  • “Down by the Sally Gardens” was written by Y. B. Yeats after he heard the traditional Irish song “Ye Rambling Boys of Pleasure” and couldn’t remember all the lyrics. The tune appears in “O’Neill’s Music of Ireland” under the title of “The Mourne Shore,” which is the version used here. The guitar arrangement is from “The Celtic Encyclopedia-Fingerstyle Guitar Edition,” (Mel Bay) by Glenn Weiser.
“Elizabeth McDermott Roe” was composed by the Irish harper Turlough O’ Carolan (1670-1738) for a member of the McDermott Roe family of Co. Roscommon who were his first patrons. The guitar arrangement is from “Celtic Harp Music of Carolan and Others for Solo Guitar,” (Centerstream) also by Glenn Weiser.
Performed by Glenn Weiser on a 1928 0-21 Martin guitar. Recorded at The Soundry, Soddy-Daisy, TN, June 18, 2013.
