I was listening to a talk on modern particle physics today. This was a purely scientific talk. The physicist said "the fundamental building blocks of nature are not particles but something much more nebulous and abstract. The fundamental building blocks of nature are fluid like substances which are spread throughout the universe and ripple in strange and interesting ways. We call them fields. The electron is actually mass-less, but by interacting with the cosmic energy field, it acquires the properties of mass. The relationship between particles and fields is that particles are what you see; fields are what the world is made of." This sounds a like like what Swami Sarvapriyananda is saying.

Exactly. I also had the same feeling whenever I heard the talks on particle physics by Sir Brian Greene. Both have the same style to emphasize the concept.
अहम् ब्रम्हास्मि! Is realized when I hear Brian Greene and get the concept of string theory when I heard Swami Sarvapriyand ji.
Lynda, so nice to know someone thinking alike.

I think that this is not what Swami talks about. It maybe "a like", like you express it.
I understand the fields, also the Nullpoint-field, are still objects to be aware of. Therefore they cannot be the pure Subject, the witness consciousness.
      I love commentary to that.
      Shanti

    Swamiji, Ananta Pranaam! Namste!
Swamiji’s talks always inspire me to think deep about life, experiences, sukham, dukkham etc. My current thought after listening to this talk:
My happiness (sukham) is when the glass exists as a glass tumbler so that I can use it for drinking water. Once it is broken, even though the broken glass exists as pieces I am unhappy (dukkham) because it is of no use to me and more over it may break my flesh. So, knowing that timeless existence is Brahma and existence will never become non-existent, how will it solve my dukham? My sukham and dukkham depends on the existence in a particular form, not in mere existence. This talk motivates me to think of how to go beyond these names and forms even while "normally" living in this world. Thank you Swamiji.

"The ultimate reality of life, the Universe, and everything..." What an endeavor... I envy people that can achieve such level of knowledge. In my case, I must admit that my mind is limited in time and space, that my knowledge is also limited -and so I must refrain to believe I can perceive the "ultimate reality of everything"; but it is great to know that some people can achieve such endeavor. To me (almost) all is a mystery; however one can see the effects of the mystery: here we are, in a world in a Universe, needing each other and in need to solve the problems of humanity (hunger, torture, war, injustice, etc.) -so the mystery is a parcial one since we can experience the consequences of whatever "that" is. Personally I like simplicity; too much talk acts like a laberint; it is like turning in a carrussel -and we can get dizy. And once "the ultimate reality" is discovered, I guess you must move on to avoid repeating and listening the same words on and on -one should discard the boat once you get to the other shore. SO, I wonder, once you discover the "Ultimate Reality", what's next?

It's always easy to explain 'What is NOT God' rather than 'What is God'. The negation philosophy helps us understand this complex concept of God by narrowing down the perspectives and dissecting the common misconceptions about God.
