I hate how they turned down Finn’s vocals because in the actual performance he was singing the harmony pretty loudly and it was a beautiful blend but the broadcast turned it down and you can’t hear it as much.
The Grammys has terrible audio engineering which makes no sense
@@indiefairy09 not really, the event is mixed for live performance primarily before broadcast
They had problems … for every perfomance
They had problems … with every performance
@@runicknight1151magazines wrote this too they also have problems there
She didn't change the lyrics. Which is great.... the song ends hopeful!
you should watch a video of this performance videoed by someone in the audience. finneas’ backing vocals are way more heard and are SO PRETTY with bil’s voice ❤
Do you have a link? My youtube search isn't cooperating and it's showing me other vocal coach videos.
Do you have a channel name? I can't find anything recorded by the audience.
Also hoping for link
Link? Channel name?
Billie has developed into such a mature artist in a short period of time. Their writing (Finneas included) is so good without relying on a roomful of industry "Professionals" trying to guide them into the perfect pop song. They have a long career ahead of them, together or separately.
Hannah try to find a clip where you can hear Finneas because his harmony wasn't really picked up on tv. But there are clips from the audience and you can hear it very clearly
Up!!
I’ve seen this song live.everyone was crying.i can’t explain the feeling and energy of that crowd it was amazing and so so sad
little correction: Billie didn't change the lyrics for this performance, the last part of the song is exactly like the studio version :)
thank you, i thought i was going crazy
Thank you! I just went back to listening to the original on spotify and wondered - I really thought I was going crazy XD
@@cetaceous_rexsame
i was so confused 😭
already anticipate that u will correct yourself on this. eitherway, it's really heartfelt. I love BE and Fin to the core 🤍
I love that everything Billie and Finneas do comes straight out from their souls. The emotion, honesty, humility, and vulnerability that they exude is impossible to ignore. Some of the greatest artists of our lifetime, and possibly ever 🥹
The first time I heard it, the lyric that made me go “whoa!” was “…just something you paid for.” In the context of the layers of meaning, it’s powerful.
"I don't know how to feel, but someday I might"
That hits me, as someone who struggles to feel anything until the bottled up feelings overwhelm me. I'm working on it, but this line just hits hard.
AMEN Maggie you are not alone
I always cry with this song, no matter where I am or what I'm feeling...
Oh no! That's so sad that you've thought the song ended on that low of a note this whole time!😭 The lyrics in the original studio version are:
Think I forgot how to be happy
Something I'm not, but something I can be
Something I wait for
Something I'm made for
Something I'm made for
They didnt change the lyrics like she seems to keep.saying i dunno why she missed it but yeah its very very hopeful and beautiful
Lyrics were never changed
Fascinating that you thought the song ended differently initially. She did change the lyrics because she added an “and” but that’s all. The song ends on a hopeful note and that’s the whole point. They do that rarely, there’s “everybody dies”, and “everything I wanted” also. Off the top of my head.
Iam a 70 yr old guy and the first time i heard this song just pierce my inner being.I had to watch again because i did not realize the clothes she was putting out made even more Incredible She can sing,Finneas is incredible.ITS a big winner
I love this comment. I recently lost my dad and he was one of the only people of his/your generation that I could share music with because he was so open-minded about it. He LOVED Billie. He was proud of her for "landing" the Barbie movie, and would have been so proud of her for this performance - like a true dad.
okay but hannah looks s o beautiful in this video
Hannah looks so pretty in all of her videos 🥰
Well deserved award winners.
Billie and Renee Rapp are two current artists I feel are absolutely haunting in their live performances; both Billie here and Renee when she performed Snow Angel on SNL. Devastating.
More reactions from Billie please ❤❤
thank you - I like your first reaction and I like this one, too! I've truly have watched virtually everything Billie - I'm not obsessed - I'm a 70 yr. old believer and I'm so happy when vocal coaches like you and Tristan (Paredes) and others - unreservedly - affirm Billie's gifts, and Fineas's, too. Billie would always be the first to say she doesn't have Adele's voice or Ariana's or that of many other women, but I think especially today - she embraces the instrument she has and has grown with it immensely. I also heard the change in Lyrics, but the only change I heard, and it is a lovely one is the "AND" in "Something I wait for" AND "something I'm made for" - is that change you are thinking of also, or is there another I've missed? P.S. I heard Billie live in St. Paul, MN on March15, 2022, my first concert in over 40 yrs and it was truly a phenomenal experience for me.
This song changed me. Truly. I would get in the shower and this song would be on repeat. I would be driving to work and this song was on repeat. It helped me during a difficult time
It makes me sad that the videos posted by the Grammys doesn’t show finneas and billie harmony’s they are so beautiful 😊❤❤
Billie has perfect pitch….. it adds so much…..
Love this, but I was confused when you said she changed the lyrics? It’s the same lyrics from the original
Yep exactly the same!
i recommend you also watch the hollywood reporter roundtable with billie, she also talks a lot about how she wrote the song in that interview
I am so proud of Billie and Finneas! their souls are so visible in their artwork and this song specifically ALWAYS makes me cry.
This recording sadly didn't pick up Finneas's harmonies very well at all. There's some videos from audience members and his vocals and harmonic choices are IMMACULATE!! Hopefully you get to hear them!!
I absolutely CANNOT handle how beautiful it was to change the lyrics. It really encompassed the entire way these Grammys made me feel. Between falling in love with Miley’s pure joy and watching, specifically the women, support each other and hype each other up, and Trevor Noah not bashing the artists but also hyping them up….it was purely a gift to experience. Even JayZ’s little rant that was in support of Queen B was all out of love and admiration. I also love Billie and Finneus so much I can’t even handle it. 💗💗💗
I much prefer listening to this voice than a big loud ordinary gospel voice i've heard a million times before. Its otherworldly and she's amazing!🥰
That vanity fair interview was SO GOOD.
Yay new Hannah video ! It’s always a good day when Hannah posts a new video 😁💜💜
Hannah you nailed just exactly why and how this song cuts right to a persons soul. At times we ALL feel this way and it simply connected in a way few music ever does.
I really like your reactions to Billie's music. I like to check out interviews with Billie also. Recently Billie and Finneas were part of the panel of songwriters with the "Songwriters Hall of Fame -A Conversation with the 2024 Oscar Noms" hosted by Paul Williams and Nile Rodgers. The entire thing is interesting but her and Finneas' part starts at 32:08 - 44:50. She speaks of her influences at 53:58 - 56:28. A lot of it is parts they have talked about before but she shares more I haven't heard.
Hannah, I got so many chills watching this. I don’t know how you didn’t!
So excited to see your reaction.
just discovering your channel and feel supported by the uncontrollable crying that happens in the last verse because I LOST IT on both the original and this performance
Her voice is beautiful.
This fricking SLAYED ME and continues to do so. :)
I think it’s beautiful how you thought she changed the lyrics. It shows that the you then that reacted to it and the you now reacting to it has different interpretations of the music. Everyone does.
PLEASE react to her brother's videos. Especially the "Break my heart again" song.
you should watch the more live vocal of this! finneas' harmonies are unreal
I think you would also like I.U. - love wins all, but careful, the music video has great potential to make you cry
I also having all that air makes it sound more emotional
Your reaction is how I feel listening 💜
Billie will make you cry with that song it’s so good
I know she didn’t actually change the lyrics, but she did add the word “and” and I feel like it adds something
Didn't they get this song done relatively early in production? I remember another interview (with one of the late night talk show hosts i think) where Billie talked about how they managed to work the hook into various parts of the score once they sent it in.
Happy Valentine’s Day Hannah 🩷🩷🩷
love you beautiful !! xox .. and thanks for reviewing that song
Everyone always explains how this song feels so heartbreaking for them. But for myself, the entirety feels so hopeful and earnest. In a way that uplifts me in a way so.many songs cant
🤗Well done, Hannah! I appreciate this song on so many levels and you hit nails on their heads with why this was hard for me to cover (besides not being Billie myself lol) 💜👍
This song came out right after my mom died unexpectedly. The feels I get when listening to this song... 😢
hannah, sucker punch is the perfect way to describe it. a gut punch of, "oh, i didn't realize that i was feeling this way until it was put in front of me." i think i try to ignore this feeling, or push it down, or something. and every once in a while, i take it out, brush it off, and carefully hold it in front of me like you would with a childhood barbie. and then other times, it's a gut punch of emotion disguised as nausea.
that feeling that connects with me about this song- i truly think it's an internalized sense of objectification. i feel it so deeply because the way women in america have grown up in a society that has very clear rules for how women are supposed to act, think, express ourselves, and generally just be. we are shaped and taught that we are made for certain things, and not made for other things. it's heartbreaking and billie and finneas express this feeling so beautifully with the music, lyrics, vocals, and performance.
This is so beautiful. Have you seen the girll do it for her audition on American Idol. If not,you really need to.
3:30 on that topic, it’s so interesting watching Mariah Carey doing similar vocals on My All and Butterfly from back in the 90’s and you realise how hard that sort of vocal is, even for someone like Mariah.
I don’t think she changed the lyrics. You may have accidentally misheard but she had always sang those lyrics
As others have said the lyrics are unchanged. I loved the hopeful ending.
so beautiful
as sad as it sounds, there’s hope in the end. first the sorrow then the bit of hopefulness from herself. if you like this song the vanity fair piece is so interesting. how everything sounds alone and different versions. her brother is a genius too, they work incredibly well together.
Not related Hannah did you see the wicked trailer that came out during the Super Bowl yesterday? What was your reaction ?
You should watch the songwriters roundtable. Billie talks about how exactly they came up with this song and all the songwriters there are amazing. There's Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo and others I can't rememeber all the names but its was realy wholesome. All the women suporting each other.
I heard you say this would have been an easy song for Billie to sing. I heard her say in an interview that this was actually the hardest song she has ever had to sing, because it was so in her head. She was intentionally trying to recreate the kind of voice one would have after crying.
hannah, it would be awesome if you reacted to lucy dacus, especifically her vocals on night shift and boygenius as well, they sound so good together and make great harmonies
If you haven't already planned to, you should do some reactions to Hazbin Hotel songs! So many Broadway singers in the cast and every song is a bop!
Also, if it sweetens the deal, Jeremy Jordan is in the cast 😆
Billie reminds me a lot of early Birdy 🥲 so pretty and so sad
I love watching ur videos
I didn't think this song could be anymore beautiful. I was wrong. So very wrong. Hearing it and knowing it's live is just... 🤯 I'm shook
Do a vocal evaluation of billie eilish
I am crying at the breakfast table
Hanna, love you!!!! Please, where is my Mamma mia 2 video? ;p
I love this song much and yes i got a little bit effect by the dolls and moving a different house. But then i love What i made for.
And love your videos Hannah 💗💗💗💗💗💗
She looks so much like the actress in ”now you see me”
I have heard through the grapevine that Finneas was in glee too, if you can spot him! ❤ Can you review some of Dodie's music as she has progressed over time? I feel like seeing her growth is such a great example of how someone's voice grows into their own wirh age and practice. It sounds even stronger with each album ❤
Thank you for this
It’s a bit different to what i normally see on the channel, but i’d love to see you react to some metal/ rock artists as some of those vocalist have some amazing voices
Please listen to "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" by Grace VanderWaal that was written by her when she was 13. She is now 20. She won AGT when she was 12 with 4 of her own songs.
'Cause I, I
I don't know how to feel
But I wanna try
I don't know how to feel
But someday, I might
Someday, I might
When did it end? All the enjoyment
This part always gets me ❤
I think this song has equal value and connection for men as it does women, though perhaps in different ways. For me, as a male with depression, it's about the transition from a young, sheltered, naive, and responsibility-free childhood to adulthood, where everything you grew up knowing and believing is suddenly stripped away. You're left wondering how you got to be where you are, not knowing _what_ you are, why you're no longer happy, and if you'll ever find your way back to some measure of happiness and knowing what you were "made for". Sadly, this is really only true if you've been fortunate (?) enough in your childhood to know that transition from good to the constant uncertainty.
We need dua lipa's performance reaction ❤❤
As a singer, I find it much easier to belt. I have such a hard time singing Billie's songs, especially this one. She's so light and this song is even lighter. It's just hard to control my voice at lower levels compared to belting.
I also want to mention that this is the first song to give me chills in a WHILE. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. It's just so wonderful
