Beware! There is an error in the video with the description of the required HDMI cable that links the Atmos Ninja v with a Nikon Z6. The Nikon Z6 only accepts an HDMI Mini Type C connection, not a full HDMI Type A connector. So the HDMI cable required to connect an Atmos Ninja v to Nikon Z6 is Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, A to C type.

If you Enable it, the Ninja will tell you it detects a Raw signal and will only let you record in ProRes Raw, it will not let you set for ProRes HQ or anything else.

If I want to display the camera information and record it to the Ninja V (autofocus Box. Aperture , shutter speed) what should i do?? I want to record everything for when I’m doing tutorials. I can record the image but not seeing camera info on the Ninja V.
One thing that I would like in a future update is to be able to shorten the time I need to hold my finger on the off button to shut down the Ninja V. I do a lot of run and gun filming and to save battery I turn of the monitor and camera between filmimg situations and it is bothersome to have to hold my finger on the off button for four seconds every time. There could be an alternative in the settings to change the time to 2 seconds or 1.5 seconds.
@@AtomosChannel even better would be if it was possible to control the state of on and off on the ninja v with only the cameras on and off switch. So when you turn on the camera you automatically turn on the screen. That would be very nice.
Unable to enable "Use Drop Frame" in Timecode on Atomos even though it is set to on in camera. Also timecode does not appear as 00:00:00:00 as in video.
Z6 hooked to Ninja V - I have two problems I can't seem to resolve. 1 - Z6 set at 2160 30fps I cannot get an ISO lower than 800. 2 - No matter what lighting control I try (camera f stop or ISO) the camera screen will show me the live real time changes but the Ninja V screen always stays the same it does not reflect the live real time lighting changes. Convoluted set-up for the Nikon Z6, thank goodness I have a Panasonic GH5. Nikon need to re-design their menus for working with HDMI out using the Atomos Ninja V!

Hi, I have an external microphone connected to the Z6 ii. I head audio but after I finish recording in the atomos ninja v, I don't hear the audio, I only see the video. The microphone is connected to the Z6 ii, but see the atomos ninja v picks up the levels.
I did this with my Z6, and was worried. the audio was in the file, but didnt play it when I hooked the Ninja v to a TV for playback. all of the audio data was there.
Yup, me either. Bought my camera 18 months ago in the filmmakers kit, and last week was the first time I used the ninja. I was glad I did an audio backup otherwise. Got home and realized it was there, I just hadn't learned the ninja yet.
Maybe a stupid Question. First time setting up my Z6 with the Atomos Ninja V. If after setting the Z6 and Atomos up as directed here, should I needed to go back to recording without the Atomos and just use the Z6 as it is set up now, do I need to #1, revert back to my original settings? #2 Can I save current setting to for instance, User 2 and Atomas setting to User 3? Thanks for any insight. I have a game to record tonight and if for some reason things don't go well or I screw something up with the settings on the Z and Ninja, I would need to finish recording with little down time as possible. Hey Douglas, I Hope your game went well. And you might have figured this out by now, but once you plug the HDMI cable off the Z6, any settings you have in the HDMI menu, will not affect your internal recording settings. You might want to turn Timecode off because it's unnecessary without an Atomos, but otherwise I don't think you'll have a problem. Cheers!

I had this problem as well. Make sure your clock on the camera is set. If the camera has been without a charge in a while, your clock needs to be reset. then Timecode will function.
having major headache setting mine up. the input displayed on the Ninja V is HD59.94 Linear despite in camera settings of 2160p24....weird thing is when I am in menu mode the input changes to UHD 29.97 N-Log!?! Atomos says it's not their issue, awaiting Nikon support answer. Anyone have same issues? Pro Res upgrade perfomed by Nikon prior to setup and using Atomos hdmi cable.

At this stage we are only testing/developing for the Ninja V for ProRes RAW over HDMI (as the Shogun can do ProRes RAW right now via SDI) however as they are a similar platform that would be the next model we look at and the implementation would be much faster as it would mostly be testing and adjustments rather than pure development. Everything this is nice, but I can't understand one thing with Nikon. How they can mean it seriously with video, if their superb S lenses can't be used for serious video work due to their non-linear manual focus? The focus plane distance is never same on the concrete position of focus ring. You just can't focus between point A and point B, which is the base of serious video work. And if You turn off and turn on the camera again, it will change focus as well. OMG why??? This is just huge fail, which forces me to look for another system and brand for video (I already have Z7)
@@khanhhuynh387 Of course You can. But you will never know in advance, how, so you need make the manual focus according the monitoring, you cant be ready in advance. Try one very common thing in taking video. If you change two focusing planes (you move, or your subject moves), usualy first you make a try to set focus point A, where you begin and the second one, where you end - point B. You will mark those positions of both on your focus ring (or you just memorize position of your hand). And then you take your final shot, using these positions of focus. But not with Z lenses, they will never repeat it same way, until you will not have exactly same speed of focusing. And this you will never have. Z lenses work like this: If you focus fast, you need lower angle of rotation of the focus ring. If you do the same slow, you will need much wider angle of rotation. And this is the problem. Even if you will focus spontanneously with monitoring, you will never "get it in your hands" with practice, becauce it will focus always different.
In the beginning I had a problem with not having a lut but now that I know how to extract the colors out of the 10 bit and n-log it's the only log I like I use DaVinci Resolve and colorize Aces for Nikon n-log lut (which I paid for) The trick to using the atomos v and Z 6 is to overexpose your footage and bring it back and post There is a tutorial that atomos made, it's the one that the owner does himself He talked about the importance of over exposing and he's right

The XT-3 shoots 4k 60p on this monitor with 10 bit 4.2.2. I just hope that fuji surprises and gives out a firmware allowing prores raw recording.

I like these AtomOs recorders. I'm still working wit ha little Ninja 2 on my GH4. Works like a dream. ProRez is so much easier to work with in post.

Why are the example shots in 60fps if you can't shoot in 60fps 10 bit?

How do you enable timecode? That is the one thing that I am unable to figure out. On my Z6, it is greyed out and I am unsure of how to fix it.
