    Great build my friend. I have a jk two door built to get onto any abandoned strip mine here in West Virginia. It’s my long range firearms shooting rig. Very basic, 2” lift done correctly with 32” bfg km3’s, not a rock crawler, just a Jeep specific built as a shooters rig. Thanks for the video!!!

    Wow what a nice rig. I have spent the last three years saving and putting parts and money away doing alot of the same exact things as you. I will be sitting at 10" of lift rusty's long arm setup I pieced the whole lift together myself and was almost spot on with my predictions the one thing I did different and is beyound words amazing was I bought and properly installed an exact contouring unibody stiffener kit from IRO and two other companies for a couple finishing pieces and had then welded by a welder friend of 35 years experience professionally so it is ready to take all the abuse and not blink that is the only thing I would like to see on yours is a full front to back and rear and front stiffener tie in kit and yours would be off the chain different in how it drives feels and performs I gaurentee you that.

    Do you need more bump stops in the front? Also what length travel shocks are you running? I'm building my xj very similar on 37s with round 7" of lift and 12" travel shocks up front.

    Are they rustys 8in coils up front with the JKS bumpsstop? Or a 6in spring with the bumpstop? Sweet xj I have mine on a built and trussed Dana 30 sitting on 33’s with 6in long arm lift. Thinking about 35’s 8in lift.

    Really nice rig, bud. Alot of people say that much lift is too much for an XJ, but mine is at 7.5 inches and rides fine. I don't have sway bars attached, but then again I don't drive it like a sports car either. That stance is perfect for 37s. Are the 44s junkyard swaps, or crate axles? Any steering issues? I think my ball joints or unit bearings are going out. Both outside edges on the front tires are very worn. Great XJ!

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, I been running the 8” for almost 20 years and been great, the 44 are out of a Jeep LJ Rubicon. I have my sway bars on and off many times over the years. Agreed I don’t drive it like a sports car.

    You don't see too many XJ's on 37's. Its just so hard to fit that much tire. I just moved up to 35's so i have a lot of clearancing to do. :)

    How are the 4.88s and 37s? I'm thinking about moving to 37s from 35s and I have 4.88s I'm a little worried about on road performance I really want to be able to drive around on the road we go on long trips and stuff exploring
    It sure is a hard choice to decide on 37s or 35s I have 15" hutchinson wheels and I don't want to go 17 I like my 15s they have the proper offset for my build and are lighter weight. I have a big brake kit stuffed in there and everything setup nicely for my 15s so my only radial tire options are a few tires from interco like super swamper irok, tsl, ssr, truxus, etc or pitbull rocker radials. There's a toyo mud terrain which would be great but it's only available in 14.50 wide for the 15" rim and I feel like that's too wide. I can fit 37s no problem it's just a really hard decision. I have custom built axles from ECGS they can handle 37s no problem.

      > hey man. Would you recommend 4.88s on 35s I have a 5 speed xj looking for new gearing. 🤔 thanks.

    • @forreststrong797
      @forreststrong797 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@martinricojr on an xj a manual transmission is different than an auto when it comes to gearing. An easy way to think about it is a manual with 4.88 gears would be similar to an automatic with 5.13 gears. It depends on what your doing with your cherokee. If you know for sure your never going bigger than a 35 you may want to look into 4.56 gears but I believe you would be just fine on 4.88 with 35s especially if you want to go to 37s in the future. Your top speed will be lower which means at highway speed your rpm will be higher so if you want to cruise at 75-80mph you should probably get 4.56 I have a friend that runs 4.10 on 35s with a manual and he likes it but personally I think jeeps should be geared a little lower because of the large tires and all the weight we put on them with bumpers and everything.

    How difficult was the Atlas swap? Any issues with crossmember or speedo?

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very easy install had to fab a transfer case mount to the crossmember, I changed the Speedo great to match the gearing and larger tires. By far the best single upgrade I’ve don’t to the XJ.

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      iam556 I went with the 4.3:1 2 speed, fairly easy install, pretty much bolts-in, modified the transfer case mount, The single best upgrade I’ve done on the XJ.

    • @iam5564

      @@5150MotorSports do you think a atlas 4 speed would be far more difficult?

    • @5150MotorSports
      @5150MotorSports  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The installation of an Atlas 4 speed should be nearly the same as the standard Atlas 2 speed. The Atlas 4 speed is just a bit longer.
