    I have about 16 panda cats, unheated aquarium; their tankmates are white cloud mountain minnows.. I'm fairly sure the pandas eat the mms eggs. And, no one tells you, the panda cats breed like bunnies; cute little wet bunnies. They are full of life and personality, fun fish for sure. Thanks for the video on these cuties.

      I bet that many swimming together looks pretty cool. What size tank is it? I was thinking of getting between 8-10 for my 29g planted tank. I used to have white clouds and I loved them. Super hardy and super active fish. I loved watching them play in the current of my HoB filter.

      Yikes! I plan on getting 6 for my 20 long, it already has quite a few other fish in it and their my last additions to the tank. I don’t know if my tank could handle so many babies! Any recommendations on how to get them to not breed?

    • @gigi3242
      @gigi3242 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joyrice1350 I have no clue how to get them to not breed, lol If you could manage to get all of one sex? An option is to sell them or trade them at a local fish club, or fish store? Give them to friends? Get a different cory that isn't quite as bunny like? Sorry, I'm not much help.

    • @Mattdirk59
      @Mattdirk59 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Breed like bunnies, sure do! Started with two and now have aprox a dozen, not sure, never see them all at once. They're so cool! Have them in a 36 gal bow front aquarium. Other tank members consists of otocinclus cats, cherry barbs, neon and black tetra, with hatchet fish at the top. Also a black kuhli loach. They all get along fine👍

  • @Fathernsonadventures

    I have a 10g with 4 panda corydoras and a male betta. And they get along so well. No aggression at all. And I've actually seen them eating together. I feed once a week some catfish pellets and the betta will go at it first and break it up and the pandas will join in and eat with him.

    • @voluntaryismistheanswer
      @voluntaryismistheanswer ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Be careful, I hid some frozen shrimp cube in my gravel to give my laser corys a treat, and one of the betta sisters found the trove and gorged herself until I was afraid of dropsy (she's fine). Remember their stomachs are the size of their eye! I love them together but feeding really is something to watch. It's fun to throw the cory gang some bloodworms, but really will eat themselves to death in a community tank if they can.

    Years ago, I used to breed them and Panda babies would survive in the aquarium if enough bottom cover existed. One thing that helped was a plastic "fake grass" mat (purchased at a large craft center); I would weigh it down with a few rocks. The female cories would lay their eggs in it and the fry would continue to hide in it. I will soon be setting up a 22-gallon bookshelf aquarium for Pandas. They are cute, like puppies! 😊

    I've always loved these guys along with my bettas.. I love that they're not just a bottom dweller (although they are) but it's really interesting when there's a group of them and they swim all up and down the tank and create a lot of activity!

      @Prime Time Aquatics I've heard that about Paradise fish, so hopefully, he'll remain nice. I noticed two of them going after each other and avoided buying them. He's very inquisitive and checks out the whole tank after I re-arrange things. He's definitely a male, and I've never seen any aggressive behavior towards his tank mates.

    I have a 29H tank with a honey gourami, some harlequin rasboras and cherry barbs. They all get on famously and so I was considering some panda corys. The tank doesn't have much going on at the bottom level (though the barbs visit there a bit). This video is really selling me on them. The only thing really holding me back is I have black gravel and don't see myself switching the substrate any time soon. Also, our store wanted $15 per fish. I wouldn't be able to get the whole group at once.

And later this year I'm going to upgrade there tank to a 20 high. If I'm in able to convince my wife to do so then I can move some to my outdoor pond. Its heated so it wont get to cold. It does get cold here in southern oregon. The tank they are in is a planted tank I have carabsea planted tank sub and I have capped it will black sand. An okay amount of plants. I have a water lily plant a good bit of guppy grass and I have a bunch of rotala. And a good number of hiding spots. I will be going and getting 2 more pandas probably tuesday. And I will also get some special food for them. I've been feeding tropical fish food and frozen foods. For filtration I have a corner sponge Filter and a Hang on back. I also have lava rock on top of the sand and man they love the tank so far.

      Do you mind filling us in on your pond heater set-up? I was researching for my 100 gallon and got lost quickly - the technical aspects of fishkeeping are the biggest challenges for me, I get biology and natural processes, but it took so long to figure out things like 'but what is an impeller?!' It must be nice to be part of a fishy couple for those times!

    In the begining I had "one of each", sort of speak, but after watching a footage from the Amazon with thousands of the same species moving in unison, I saw the light:P From then on, every "representative" of a cory species in my tanks, have at least 10 "colleagues" :D
    Also, always remember to provide soft substrate (I recommend Manado), they always enjoy "diving" in to it.:)

      When I started our 55gal planted a year and a half ago tank we started out with 7 Pandas and some neons in 76F water. Since then the tank has been through a lot of change including 9 discus and a temp that was very slowly increased to 85F before the discus were added. Our pandas have done well, which has since included 7 other corys of different species (green laser, swartzi, false juli, sterbai, flagtail and concolour - all of which handle 85-86F temps consistently. Pretty sure all but one of our pandas are female. We have ours in a gravel tank. The discus and all the corys get along well. I have a few videos on my channel that include them if you would like to see them. We are planning a move to a larger tank soon and couldn't imagine not having corys!

      Unfortunately, when starting back up into the fish hobby I bought like 4 panda corys and they were doing fine for a month or two… until a bad disease got three of them.
      I have one panda cory left, but he has been quite the trooper. Going for almost 1.5 years now. I tried getting more buddies for it, but didn’t have luck with them during their quarantine. Hopefully later down the line I can get my panda cory some friends.
      My water is at an 8.2 ph btw lol

    .
    I just miss that touch of orange that the first have.. Besides that all cory are super cute and lovable.. For some it maybe Guppy, Betta, Cichlids, Oscars or Arowana.. But for me Cory are the reason, I entered this hobby..

    Hey there! Im looking for a help from someone experienced! I have male betta fish and after some reading and digging i decided to get him "friends" that will help me maintain the aquarium little bit. I decided to get cory panda's at my local pet store and I got 2 with possible to start with. I let them aclimate to the water, did some testing of the water, added CO2 plus, added Algumin plus and they were fine for few days. Sometimes hiding, but usually together on same spot. Last few days i noticed that they kinda separated and one of them was hiding and the other one was more active. Im usually a lot at home so i was watching them quite often watching how the betta reacts to them and he was ignoring them. But just now few moments ago I found one of the cory's dead in between plant leaves head facing up and I can't find the other one - i'll look more when during day its really early for me now. But honestly I have no idea how that happend. Both of them were quite small so not an adults. But I keep wondering why they separated, where is the other one and why the first one die? The betta was ignoring his corpse, but do you think its possible he did that? They have a lot of hiding spots in the aquarium and a lot of plants as well. Also I wasnt at home as much today but I 100% saw him alive few times during day when i was passing by and he was swimming arround and also "rubbing" or how should i call it his whiskers on the glass also with his head up... Is it possibly some kind of desease that makes them swimming like that? Is that why he died? It makes me sad :/ I had many fish in past when I was child, and then little bit older, but now I have these after long time and I also never had cory catfishes...

      @PrimeTimeAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry that happened. :-( Sometimes young fish can have a hard time acclimating to new environments. It might not be anything you did and I doubt the betta had anything to do with it given he was ignoring them when you were watching them.

    I've thinking about getting 6 to 18 panda corys for my 90 gallon heavily planted tank. I'm wondering if my school of 6 full size roseline sharks and 3 adult size SAE will be intimidating to the panda corys. The SAE school with the sharks and they all do dig into the gravel after feedings. I do have some open areas in between some if the plants, and there are shady plces for them to hide. Also have live-bearers and tetras. Thanks

      Not really - they do it so infrequently it doesn't play a huge role. I might not go much over a 3ft tall tank, but most tanks are fine.
