If you’re playing in PS5 controller, when you wield the elder wand, the vibrations and sound on your controller is slightly different from your usual wand. It instantly feels powerful in your hand. The temptation the wand brings with itself was perfectly shown in this quest. ❤

This art style came out of nowhere and was such a treat, especially since I expected this mission to just be a repeat of the last two Keeper missions. Hell, I'd play an entire game with this art style

I find the story of Isidora to be a good deal more compelling than the villains you see in the Harry Potter series. Isidora's story is a classic "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions". She started out with just wanting to alleviate her father's pain and grief, and it all snowballed from there.
That's how all of the older tales in the wizarding world's lore are, and that's always been the theme, with the main example and theme surrounding escaping Death and the Deathly Hallows. It has always been about people who want to be freed from their humanity; from the shackles of Death and fear and pain. The concept of being born 'magical' is so perfect at painting this picture of toeing the line, because it's so horrifyingly easy for wizards (those with too much power) to lose their humanity.
I really recommend checking out Tales of Beedle the Bard in a library for free or online if you feel like purchasing it, because it's honestly really cool how deep and poetic the wizard universe can get. I read Tale of Three Brothers as a kid so this level in the game was really nostalgic in a way for me
Well, this game had professional writers with actual skill. Rowling was a mediocre writer who got lucky.
if you ask me, the "villains" were the most well-developed characters, between Isadora's relationship with her father and magic, then Ranrok, who, let's face it, wasn't really that awful when you view his actions in the context of a slave uprising/liberation struggle. Then there are the pretty bland protagonists, of whom Sebastian's arc was the most interesting with the struggle with trying to help his sister, which wasn't that important to the main story, Omnis's struggle with his family's dark tendencies, which was barely touched upon, Fig, who didn't really have any motivation aside from "I wonder where my wife is? Meh, I'll just chill with this student instead.". And finally, the player-character. Where are they from? Are they a muggleborn? Why are they a late transfer? What is ancient magic and how did they get it? What is their motivation in the story? It's never revealed, or even hinted at.
The writers of this game did what Rowling never did: They came up with not one, but two people whose motivations for using Dark magic were more complex and nuanced than "I want to purge all the muggle-borns and take over the world."

The complexity of Sebastian really shows how dark magic can be a path to the dark side like in star wars.

I definitely feel that in my playthrough.
I was fine with the spells I had. Then when I learned the unforgivables, I prefer using them because its easier when facing a big wave of enemies.
I wish the game had a morality system
After the first and second trials, I was worried that they'd all be pretty much the same. This was a nice change of pace.

I got stucked because I saw "Third trial" and I didn't want to fight the same boring giant knights so when I started the quest I was amazed by every single detail. I wish there was something in the settings so you could swap the graphics to that sketch design

Indeed brother! I was disappointed when we couldn't actually keep the wand but i had a lot of fun and surprised at the whole deathly hallows reference!
I wanted some special spells to use like the spell the Executioners have with the lighting and fire on Elder wand level but 🤷♂️ I'll get over it.

Three brothers, travelling along a lonely, winding road at twilight reached a deep treacherous river where anyone who attempted to swim or wade would drown. Learned in the magical arts, the brothers conjured a bridge with their wands and proceed to cross.
Halfway through the bridge, a hooded figure stood before them. The figure was the enraged spirit of Death, cheated of his due. Death cunningly pretended to congratulate them and proceeds to award them with gifts of their own choosing.
The eldest brother, a combative man, asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence. Death granted his wish by fashioning the Elder Wand from a branch of a nearby elder tree standing on the banks of the river. The second brother, an arrogant man, chose to further humiliate death, and asked for the power to recall the deceased from the grave. Death granted his wish by crafting the Resurrection Stone from a stone picked from the riverbank. The third and youngest brother, who was the most humble and wise, did not trust Death and asked for something to enable him to go forth without Death being able to follow. A reluctant Death, most unwillingly, handed over his own invisibility cloak.
The three brothers took their prizes and soon went on their separate ways.
The eldest brother travelled to a village where a wizard whom he had quarrelled lived. He sought out a duel and fought the wizard using the wand, instantly killing the latter. Leaving his enemy dead upon the floor, the eldest brother walked to an inn not far from the duelling site and spent the night there. Taken by his conscience and lust of the Elder Wand's power, the eldest brother boasted of this wand gifted by Death and his own invincibility. That very night, a murderous wizard killed the eldest brother. The unknown murderous wizard crept to the inn as the eldest brother slept, drunk from wine. The wizard slit the oldest brother’s throat for good measure and stole the wand. That was when Death took the first brother for his own.
The second brother returned to his home where he lived alone. Turning the stone thrice in his hand the figure of the girl he had once hoped to marry, before her untimely death, appeared at once before him, much to his delight. Yet she was sad and cold, separated from him as by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered. Finally, the second brother, driven mad with hopeless longing, committed suicide by hanging from his house' balcony so as truly to join her. That was when Death took the second brother for his own.
Death searched for the youngest brother as years passed but never succeeded. It was only when the third brother reached a great age, he took off the Cloak of Invisibility and gave it to his son. Greeting Death as an old friend, they departed this life as equals.

The older brother just defeat every "goon" death send, the younger just used the invisibility cape to scape, and the middle brother probably just used the stone so he couldnt die...meanwhile the village was obliterated
The stone can only call someone back from death not keep them alive

No the piece of Voldemort’s soul that had turned him into a horcrux died instead of him if you know of him surviving the killing curse in that instance then you should already know that Harry was a living horcrux
@@digishade7583 I'm afraid you are both wrong. Harry survived, literally, because Voldemort took his blood to revive, reactivating Lily's enchantment and enabling Harry to be protected against him. Any other explanation, such as the stone or the horcrux, isn't canon or mentioned in the books, movies or anywhere else.

This was such a unique mission.
The visuals were unique, like a storybook come to life. Unfortunately for you, it's a Grimm fairy tale, with all the trappings.
The first part with the stealth was nerve-wracking, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I got the cloak.
The game then truly rewards your patience by making you a magical GOD. You can see (and feel) why one of this wand's epithets was the Deathstick.
After all that, the Resurrection Stone segment was a nice breather and a chance to calm down, good way to end things.
Just, great work all around, Avalanche.
I love how Niahm's Lullaby sounds a bit like Lily's Theme 13:41

One of the best missions in the game you can actually feel the power of the elder wand on your controller and see it on your screen not only that but you can hear how powerful it is too. If only we could have kept it decendo does 6k damage too wtf

Loved these enemy swarm moments in the game where you can just cut loose and go beserk with spell casting.
Lol I hate the chaos. I wouldn't mind alot of spells but that death wolf that keeps coming up was annoying.
I sincerely hope we all get a dlc or extra content? Well, I just started few days ago with deluxe edition and this game feels overwhelming in a good way. Great video upload.

Combat gameplay in Hogwarts Legacy reminds me a lot of Devil May Cry. From the combat scene cut (not cut scene), camera angle, focus sequence, attack mechanic.

Was playing on hard mode. Elder wand fight was lowkey hard for me😂

I did it with no estus too, took me an 1 hour, it was so out of place cause I steamrolled the rest of the game

I'm only level 28. Do you suggest I go back a saved game before starting this quest to get more levels? I'm really struggling to beat death lol
That troll battle was so hard. I eventually did it. Just finished it now. Highest difficulty. Hard enough to time the counters, but when the counters doesn't always appear, and the enemy red hits you while you got knocked over, and now it's in black and white made it much harder. Was hard enough to catch the timing of the dodge and parry thing when it appears. And on top of that only 4 wiggenwield potions, and no other spells or abilities :(
It's a shame the deathly hallows weren't a side quest as way to help a classmate accept death that would have been interesting to see someone learn that there's no point in being afraid of death because he eventually comes for us all

Did anybody spells for this mission disappear on them after a certain point. Like Half way through the boss fight and your left up rivers without a paddle to die slowly.
Had same problem, just reloaded save file. Also maybe it is somehow triggered by the secondary objective of getting 30 combos in a fight (just don’t reach it, but I’m not sure)

I think you're playing on easy. This challenge was really difficult. Also your trolls aren't moving. So this has to be easy

Wielding elder wand is such amazing experience, such a treat, it sucks you can't use it on main storyline (makes sense storywise tho, there's no way random hogwarts student would wield it). fighting death itself is fun
Now im totally buying this game!!

There are talents that speed up cool down as well. Also Potentency talent and drinking focus potion, then spamming a few lumos will uncool all spells.

The story already tells us the right answer. The cloak is the right choice. The stone is the worst option for sure, the wand could maybe be fine if used by someone strong enough not to get corrupted by its power but I wouldn't take the chance.

@@rousod I don't know where you see that. The third brother was smart because the cloak is the only deathly hallow that isn't flawed. I don't know how you could possibly argue that the stone is something positive. It doesn't even revive the dead it just summons sad echoes of them. And the Elder Wand is just power and the story shows us how this kind of power corrupts and leads to envy from others.
@@Eo-ms3kw dumbledore showed that he can handle the elder wand just fine. Also, when harry was in the forest ready to die, the spirits of his people conjured where like patronuses to him so that he walked by the dementors without being affected. Its not all bad.

@@tsu177 maybe your levels are higher. I struggled with this trial and then realized that the troll's level is higher than the required level to do the trial. So I abandoned it and decided to level up and unlock all the magic on the map first.
yeah, playing patiently and defensively is the best option in situations like this. If you focus on dodging/using protego every single time the circle pops up above you head you'll not take any damage and have plenty of opportunity to deal out damage against the enemies. Just have to focus on protecting yourself from every attack and you'll be set.

I thought this was plague related, it just seems like the artstyle they used in books to illustrate the plague like the black death etc.. didnt know about the 3 brothers thing so im educating myself with the comments whats really going on🤣
