Really helpful video; that's great. Answers my question, so clearly explained. Have you read the book They Ask, You answer? You've hit the nail on the head with this video.
Hi thank you having trouble with hinges not lining up on my new intergrated washing machine I thought why didn't I get a free standing you have answered my question perfectly
actually i have seen a freestanding in what was a integrated space, just make sure the machine is no wider than 595mm, and no more than about 550mm deep, also the plinth on some kitchens is pre cut, for easy removal. integrated appliances are getting much cheaper now. and there are more to chose from. but i personally find asthetics of a expensive machine from a expensive brand pleasing. siemens serie IQ or bosch serie 8 look fantastic
So the answer is yes you can. You have to alter the plinth board, no biggy. You have to make sure that the freestanding appliance dimensions are not greater than width, height and depth of the built-in appliance. The upside is usually better performance, greater choice and significant increase in capacity.
I've just moved into a new house, and the intergrated washer is terrible. I've got a 6 month old washer dryer I want to use instead. Is it easy enough to remove the old one? I'm not that bother if the kitchen gets damaged as we will begetting a new one soon.
@RuislipAppliances, is it mandatory for the integrated washing (laundry) machine to be fixed by the furniture's side walls? Or it would be fine to leave 2cm/(3/4 inches) on each side (left and right) for the vibrations/movement of the machine? I would like to install an integrated washer in the lower part (height=90cm/35 inch) of a high kitchen furniture cabinet (height=220cm/86 inch). Thank you.
Hello. I basically have no plinth or integrated door yet. But I am waiting to have the door and plinth delivered, is it possible to get the integrated washer dryer and use as normal whilst waiting?
Hi Washer Man 250 , did the plinth still run through the front ? usually the plinth is the issue and the height , oh and also door or drawers opening from either side !
Will a normal washing machine fit in a 60cm cabinet? have an IKEA kitchen and said I wanted a freestanding washer. I was sold a cabinet and a normal 60cm door, so the machine would be behind a door, not integrated. The kitchen is now assembled but as the interior width of the cabinet is less than 60cm I cannot see how a machine can fit???? I have the same problem with the dryer. They told me I could put a washing machine in as long as the depth was correct, ie with room for the door. HELP
Hi. I have a new Samsung washing in my new kitchen. It's built in behind a door with a dryer on top. The whole press shake when it's on a spin. Samsung came out to make sure its working OK. It was just not really meant to behind a press. Anyone have experience of this. I can't listen to it anymore..surely the kitchen fitter could have advised me on this??
I have just moved into a flat and the machine isn't working, plus i can see that the top machine doesn't exist!! Was told it's dangerous as it is a fire hazard. It seems that the space the work top is lower and when I asked in Currys to purchase a washing and have a metal lid put on so it will fit under the worktop they laughed and said No,, they don't do that anymore. I can't afford to have work top Raised , but I just watched your video and it seems it can be done. Please help me with how I get this done. Desperate as we can't do any washing Tracey
i had a simualr problem for the last 30 years, . Except mine was caused by the kitchen fitter not allowing for floor tiles, and once the floor was tiled the machins wouldnt fit. I found that you can modify the wheels/stands to give you some clearance. Or as you said the top can be modified or removed. I just put a peice of ply on one unit
Yes you can but you will have the bottom part of the machine where the filter is exposed and it will look unfinished. So if you’re getting an integrated machine I’d also consider getting the kick board and the door so it’s hidden away.
I’m also interested in replacing my freestanding w/m d/w and fridge with integrated appliances. Obviously the wooden shaker doors are no longer available, so I was thinking of mix matching doors with a contrasting colour like cream or grey and getting a new plinth.
I was just told that it affects it's life span i.e. it can't cool properly is this your experience? Trying to find a way to stop our son from opening it after use and putting toys in. (He doesn't turn it on) but we want to put it behind a door.
such an easy to understand vid!!! thanks! you have done in just over 3 minutes what over 48 hours on google couldn't!!!

Excellent. Thank you.
How to stabilise integrated washing machine when spinning?
Hi Washer Man 250 , did the plinth still run through the front ? usually the plinth is the issue and the height , oh and also door or drawers opening from either side !
How about the connection at the back? Don't the integrated have different connectors to the main?
No its same hoses and wires are often longer so u can attach them before sliding in the new machine into the fixture

OK so what happens when you need to clean the filter on the integrated machine, obviously the plinth is in the way for you to access it!
Take the plinth off obviously
The plinth should be easily removable, usually push on fittings
Very useful thanks.
Can you put an integrated machine where you used to have a free standing?
Yes you can but you will have the bottom part of the machine where the filter is exposed and it will look unfinished. So if you’re getting an integrated machine I’d also consider getting the kick board and the door so it’s hidden away.

Is there a difference between a built in and an integrated washing machine?
Did you not watch the video?
'integrated' means 'built-in'.
We managed to fit a freestanding in a intergrated space

Integrated machines do not go in a housing, they go in a gap.
Can you do the opposite?
WHAT!!!!!!!
