I was so fortunate to visit Afghanistan as part of an "Overlander Bus" that left London and then traveled overland to Katmandu in 1977. Best experience of my life. @@matin1411 I am so sad that you had to leave your native country. Afghanistan is a spectacularly unique and unforgettable place but what occurred was so unfortunate right after I traveled through. When I was there women were well educated, or could be, and were not covered from head to toe in the "chadris" which is what I was told they were called. The place was thriving and so many people travelled through it from the West to the East and from Australia and New Zealand to the UK. I am glad you are safe in England and hope that you are able to one day see your home country again receiving visitors in a safe way.

I can't believe how prosperous it now appears compared to back then. Bamian was just a collection of small dwellings perhaps 20/30 (hard to remember) and we stayed in a big room in an eating place. No tables or chairs and we just slept on the floor but being able to wander around the Buddhas at night was something I never forget. Tried to make it to Bandi Amir twice but the snow was too heavy and so so cold I had no clothes left in my bag even wearing all my underwear !!

Afghanistan is a beautiful country and the people of Afghanistan are kind, generous, and hospitable. Afghanistan is a multiethnic and mostly tribal society. The population of the country consists of numerous ethnolinguistic groups: Pashtun, Tajik, Hazara, Uzbek, Aimaq, Turkmen, Baloch, Pashai, Nuristani, Gujjar, Arab, Brahui, Qizilbash, Pamiri, Kyrgyz, Sadat, and others. You are really a trailblazer Eva and your so brave to bring us this travel show. You really should host a show on a network too! Lonely planet has nothing on some of your adventures.
I was so lucky. I travelled through Afghanistan 3 times at the end of the 1970s. Obviously after the Russians invaded this wasn't possible any more. My memory is mostly the people. Afghans that I met were proud, handsome and honest people. Unlike most of Asia a price was a price, there was little bartering. The scenery was unbelievably beautiful. And at the end of a long road trip there was always Afghan green tea and bread, often for free as a welcome. In those days Afghan hash was everywhere, in fact when I entered the country from Iran the border guard gave me a large lump "welcome to Afghanistan, sir". You are lucky, Eva but be safe.
As our grandfather's Rumi says the world is changing every period of time but we don't know. Afghan also changed a little we not getting education we deserve and more .

What a beautiful place! I've just been reading Dervla Murphy's book Full Tilt where she travels from Ireland to India with her bike back in 1963. She fell deeply in love with Afghanistan and it's people and her stories from her travels remind me of Eva. She was fearless and immersed herself in the communities she visited completely. Worth a read to understand how different things were back in the 60's (not so long ago).
Afghan people just don't deserve what they've been trough. I really hope that this situation ends soon ,so people from all over the world can travel and enjoy this beautiful place!
What a gorgeous country. I made friends with an Afghani 30 years ago in the US and Afghanistan has always intrigued me yet so heart breaking for those living there and all the so many other families who had to leave their country like my friend and his family.
I have been in Afghanistan in 2005 and it is an amazing place... Bamyan is like a time capsule taking you back centuries and has a great history as it is one of the few places where the Greek culture came into contact with eastern philosophies producing the Indo-Greek civilisation... Kabul is also very historic... Mazar-e-sarif has a great mosque... Very friendly people... It is sad what is happening now in Afghanistan
The dancing on the ice part made me so happy. But it breaks my heart that Afghanistan remains so unsafe and inaccessible. There seems to be so much beauty if only it could also be made safe for its citizens and tourists again 😔

beautiful! lived in Kabul in the late '60's early 70's. Amazing experience for an American family. I stood in the face of one of the buddhas, something a 6 year old boy will never forget! Love the Afghan people, food and culture, thanks for sharing!
I was so fortunate to visit Afghanistan as part of an "Overlander Bus" that left London and then traveled overland to Katmandu in 1977. Best experience of my life. I always said that Afghanistan was the most unusual place I have ever visited in my life. This was 1977 so just before the major issues that followed. I think you are extremely brave and have really shown how unique and lovely and kind the people are....something travelers see always and those who are not fortunate to travel, miss out on and develop ideas not based in what is very true....people are people the world over are innately good inside. Thank you!
I'm an Afghan was born in 1977 while you been travelling around the world and i was struggling to get out of the war zone Ever since I got to know myself. and then i have been immigranted in England now i read your comments about Afghanistan. What a sad and interesting is this life
@@matin1411 I am so sad that you had to leave your native country.
@@marilynstahl6365 Hi Marilyn, I am an Aussie who was heading in the opposite direction the same year. Enjoying revisiting Afghanistan through Eva.
Would love to hear some good stories from your trip to Afghansitan
I long to visit Afghanistan as it was before the Soviet invasion and follow the hippy trail.
Afghan people are the most humble and down to earth people you’ll ever meet, the country has so much history and such beautiful places. It’s sad not many people know about the good side.
With the sad present situation in Afghanistan happening now, i was drawn to your interesting videos. Thank you for showing us the beauty inside Afghanistan. I hope your friends there are safe and hope soon things will become better 🙏🙏🙏
Hello Afghan people, i am from Pakistan. I just wanted to say how glad I am to see Afghanistan getting the love it deserves because Afghan people have truly suffered a lot (I'm sorry for our contribution in it). Afghan culture is beautiful and I'm sure the hearts of Afghan people are made of gold. I wish for your country to see a brighter future and I hope that we are able to mend our ties. Say no to terrorism. Pakistani people have immense love for Afghans and I wish you all the best. Love you guys from Pakistan! :)

@Zazai king Yep guys I am from Pak too and I would even go as far as to say, you guys are not Carbon copy but absolutely like us and I can recognize everything from food, furniture, clothes to even local culture and that's coming from Punjabi.
We are same people and everybody deserve to live in peace which can only be achieved once everybody is kicked-out of Afghanistan and you guys rule yourself......F@k Afghan Gov and Taliban reach-out to your kin and start the peace process and once that is achieved.

@@UsmanSiddiq1 Nah, we aren't the same people. I think you should give Afghan people their space. Let them appreciate the uniqueness of their culture and heritage. We have similarities with them, but we also have our differences.

I would love to visit Afghanistan. It is such a Beautiful country, beautiful people, traditions, culture, textile, designs, handmade items, music, dance, food, the breath taking beautiful landscape, poetry, etc. Afghanistan is special 🌟 ❤.
Watching this video from America in October 2021 my heart breaks for the people of Afghanistan the smiles and warmth they show in this episode is so heartwarming. I hope this wonderful family is still ok and I hope that someday our worlds will find peace and the Afghan people can share the beauty of there country with the whole world.
Thank you very much #Eva zu Beck for this Vlog that you made it about my lovely country Afghanistan. Love you guys from Eu,SE!
Afghanistan is truly Asia
You were there just in time to collect and share with us the beauty of this tormented country and its people.
A big thank you for that.
Today my heart is broken by seeing what is happening there.
I pray for peace in Afghanistan.
It almost feels like being one of the only tourists in a place, you would be a celebrity, with people really supporting you.
We Afghans are rich from all perspective but the problem is that some western countries and our neighbors don't want our progression
Very interesting wish you have some video to upload on TH-cam

This is just brilliant viewing. 😊 A big hello to all the friendly people of Afghanistan from here in Ireland.

Dear Eva, I am sincerely and wholeheartedly thankful to you for showing a bright side of Afghanistan which isn’t showed to the world and for being so mindful and respectful of the history, people, culture and religion, love you girly thanks ❤️💞
Too bad that it is Afghanistan, because Afghanistan is the least peaceful country in the entire world.
Why do they don't deserve what they have been through and going through?
Right and it’s their own kind harming themselves
Thanks for the US trillion dollar invasion and bombing with drones that mess up the Afghanis who just like everyone else wants to live peacefully
Thank you! As an Afghan living as an immigrant all my life, I appreciate your support.
What a gorgeous country. I made friends with an Afghani 30 years ago in the US and Afghanistan has always intrigued me yet so heart breaking for those living there and all the so many other families who had to leave their country like my friend and his family.
😍😊😁
You’ve made my mind. I’m going to seriously consider the possibility of visiting Afghanistan 🇦🇫
specially in summer
Please don't go there anytime soon. It is not save.

Yes. know the difference between an individual and political entity. A beautiful scenery and a horrible situation. A visitor and. a resident. Then you will understand what real Afghanistan is. And be thankful that majority of us need not experience that reality.
