    Thanks for the review. Been wondering why no one has put these head to head before! I've had a full set of HMBs (3-PW) for 6 months now and absolutely love them. The 919 Forged was what I was seriously considering before the HMB came out. In my testing I thought the feel with the HMBs was a lot better that the 919F which I found too clicky for a Mizuno forged club. Its incredible how good the HMB feel for a hollow iron! On the performance stakes the HMB also launched higher, carried slightly further, with a steeper decent angle and more spin. I thought the Forged were a good looking iron, but the HMB looks miles better. You really can't ask for a better combo than all of that! And the 3-4 irons are incredible. As someone else mentioned they blend perfectly in look and distance into the T20 wedges as well. Forgiveness is very good and distance consistency is top notch, again rare for a hollow iron. Mizuno really hit it out of the park with these.

    I changed from MB-716 to HMB this season and it’s clearly more forgiving and also noted as your data friendly on heel shots and they do fly higher. If I am being picky then I’d like to see less offset and a slightly thinner top line. Positively they blend very well into the T20 wedges.

      @AskGolfNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Max, yep its the classic situation that lefties face. I myself am a left hander however learned to play right handed from an early age. Mizuno do offer a certain number of irons in their range in left handed option, however due to the small amount sold, Mizuno actually make no profit at all from the left handed market as the cost of production is covered just by the money they make from the sales, hence why they have to be careful which heads they make available.

      Did the switch...Stock shafts compared to half inch longer on my MMCs. Though I cant say that these hurt less on a miss strike I can say that my distances are much more consistent. At the range a pure strike with the MMC 8 iron would go 150 and on the course i seem to loose 10 yards. the HMB I am 150 all across the board and hitting all my irons the dame distance as the range and its amazing. When i get better i will go back to blades or do a mix bag but golf is already hard enough.

    When I changed my irons last year it came down to choice between 919 Forged and i210s. The 919 Forged is really easy to hit, one of the straightest hitting iron I have ever tried and a nice feel (although I prefer the feel of i210s). There were, for me, 2 flaws with the 919 Forged: it is a little too long from heel to toe to be pretty; and they are too straight hitting, I found it very difficult to put any shape on the ball.
    In the end I bought i210s and they are fantastic, they were a little better in dispersion and consistency but the MP20 HMB was not available then. On balance I prefer the HMB to the 919 Forged - I would love to combo them with the 919 Tours which I absolutely love but anything longer than a 7i is way too small for me to hit consistently (the 5i actually scares me!)

    Hi, I’ve got the HMBs from 2-PW I don’t use the two iron unless it’s windy to be fair but I don’t notice the sound you said you get from them.
    Maybe because your inside I’m not sure and they do feel soft as anything I’ve hit, I love the feel and performance from these irons and I would recommend any modern Mizuno irons to anyone but there are so many good irons out these days, and depending on what your looking for from your irons the choice is endless.
    The one thing I do like is that the irons are not strong lofted compared to some 7irons coming in around 28 degrees!!!! But like I said it’s a game for everyone and if strong lofts help you go for it.
    Nice comparison 👍👍👍

      Thanks Geordie, the HMB's are a Forged MP at the end of the day so they feel nice to fit as did the 919 Forged. Pipped by the HMB's on feel front and looks also. Apart from the higher price tag on the HMB's for me they are a clear winner.

    I had the 919 Forged in 2017,, played about 15 rounds with them , yes they’re very forgiving ! I can remember plenty of toe shots that barely lost any distance.. Couple of issues I encountered >>. The grooves on the 8 iron collapsed, by the time i reached out to Mizuno the following year, the 1 yr. warranty was missed by literally about a week and they wouldn’t honor it .. I had to purchase a replacement 8 iron. 2nd, the satin finish really got ugly over time... it looked stained and spotty all over... i wasnt a fan.. I sold them shortly after i got the replacement 8 iron. 3rd: the Boron made it feel too hard ... combination of all 3 left me a bad taste in my mouth ...

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Julien, in reference to my spin, I used to be a nominal spin player but suffered somewhat from control into greens especially on the longer shots, so over the past few seasons I've been working on hitting the ball higher and increasing my descent angle into greens. This has had a double advantage of gaining control and usable spin.

      I feel like a sinner but the fitting went great.
      I wasn’t a fan of the JPX forged looks at address and wasn’t feeling the love from the tour. The HMB was okay but wasnt what I expected after all the hype. But the MMC, my god, it was amazing. Looks, feel/sound trajectory, has the whole package. I was in love. I was about to reach for my wallet to buy the MMCs when my pro handed me the P770. I don’t care much about distance as I do trajectory but, Holy s***! I’m 45 and haven’t hit a 7i over 200yds since I was in my 20s. P770 was carrying 208 yds avg (I know the lofts are a few degrees different in the P770 than my mp62s, but c’mon). They had everything I liked about the MMC except the mishits were shockingly longer and straighter in the 770s. Great feel with a little more smack sound that let me know I nuked it every time. I like the weight better than the MMCs and could feel the club head better throughout my swing. The MMCs are a bit prettier but the 770s are sexy as hell.
      I purchased 5-pw with the Gold S300 shafts.

      Jamie alnaimi yes it was unexpected to love a Taylormade. The JPX Forged strikes really well and was long, but I’ve been so used to looking down at my 62s for the past 10 years that I had to have a similar topline. I don’t think my pro gave me a Callaway to try now that I’m thinking about it. Good luck in your search.

    from what I understand, the JPX919 Forged have more offset than the MP 20 HMB. Could that explain why the 919 Forged were fractionally left?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John. Just how I reacted to the club in that instance. Possibly because of the CG being slightly more toe side, striking it with a slightly closed face to counter the potential twisting from off centre strike.
      I wouldn't get too much out of dispersion left and right, that is much more down to the individual at that time. More so front to back dispersion is a better indicator.
      Also offset doesn't necessarily have the impact that most believe as its a bit of a golf myth..... One of many unfortunately.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Peter, all depends on strike/dynamic loft delivered. Toe strikes seem to favour the 919 Forged whilst people that heel may find the HMB more helpful. Tough to give an accurate opinion, obviously I would say test both, but possibly for future proofing again depending on your point in your golfing life, I'd choose the HMB's. They may give you a touch more launch and spin to help peak heights. Slower swingers tend to have issues with peak heights and therefore descent angles into greens so I would always chose the option that gives you the best height and spin.

For what it's worth, I didn't have a red Made in China bag over my clubs. MP-20 HMB, right on the box, says "Head made in Japan, shaft made in Japan, assembled in USA". But you know... Every time I asked in writing (email), all I got was that they are "forged in Japan". So if they're playing a game of semantics, that could mean they are actually made in China but yes of course sir they are forged right here in Japan! Time to shop for Srixon? They were forthright and said exactly where each component was made and where it was assembled.

      Ok, Mizuno confirmed the club heads are made in Japan (forged/created), then sent to China for the finish/protective coating, then to USA/wherever you live for final assembly. At least they were transparent with their answer when I asked directly.

    I thought the 919 looked okay until I seen the topline, then I almost threw up in my mouth a little bit.
