It appears that all HivePress themes share this limitation, making customization challenging, particularly for those without coding skills. I think it's easier to filter real estate with the geolocation feature (you can install the free HivePress Geolocation extension and allow users to filter properties by location). Alternatively, you can create the "Select" attribute (e.g., state) and add various options as well as build a hierarchy of options. Also, you can create listing categories for each state and add sub-categories for cities.

Yes, you need to link a billing account. Don't worry they only charge a few dollars if you reach like 100,000 ping or something like that. That means that most of the time, you don't even pay anything at all
It's probably good to mention that in order to upload or even use the theme upload section, you'll need the business plan which is a paid feature. Maybe it was free, but now it's not, so heads up about that
