This was a very helpful video! As a masters student who has never lived in London I’m nervous about being able to afford everything after having lives in a much cheaper city during my undergraduate years but watching this video has made me feel a little easier about it all and I know now that it can be done!
I agree about Lidl!!! It is a saviour. I lived round the corner from the Tottenham Court Rd one too. I am still deciding where to live next year but hope to be near Regents Park again. It has been a strange first year at university in London. x
No way!! We must be nearby 🥰 this area is so perfect for students - near the park and shops and walkable to campus!! Good luck flat hunting but I know next year will definitely be better than this one ☺️❤️
💜 it was my pleasure to share!! I found these videos so helpful for planning my costs when I moved to London/ anytime I’m planning to go and visit anywhere for a while 🥰 I hope you have a lovely day!!
This is so helpful! Thanks for making this video! Knowing that u have also been allocating the expenses for Donation truly is amazing and motivating myself to do so! Thanks!
Hello Mei-Ying! I recently discovered your channel, just want to say a huge thank you for your videos. As an overseas student who will soon move to London to study for a masters degree, your content has helped me tremendously to prepare myself to live in such a big city! I find your content about student life to be especially helpful~ It feels like I have already made my first friend in this country who is willing to share her knowledge and guide me when I embark on this journey :) Would you consider making a general video about student accommodations? For example, comparing university halls, student accommodation owned by private companies and renting your own flat? Thank you again!
that’s so exciting Sara 🥳 I hope you have a wonderful time here - luckily by then things should be on their way back to normal so make the most of everything 💜
Really helpful video. I'm currently going to start postgraduate studies in september and im from Lebanon! Was great to hear you donating thanks for all your efforts.
Would save a lot more money if you’d live with parents. Assuming your family live far away from London. Only issue with living with family is distraction🤕
Unfortunately my family are an hour train journey away and also I wanted to live out to experience more independence at uni. It definitely does cost more that way but for me it’s been 100% worth it and made my uni experience so much more fun - a lot more personal growth happened than I thought possible!!
Hi Mei-Ying, Your well presented cost of living information is interesting to someone on the other side of the world. Just one small item to mention - your monthly rent is 52×200÷12. Richard
Thank you smm for uploading this. I needed this video soo much and its soo informative. What is ur fav food shop lololll. Love ur videoss. Stay safee. Xx💕💖
You’re more than welcome yasmin- I’m so glad you found the video helpful ☺️ I looove a good lidl or Aldi but M&S is for a treat day 💜 stay safe too and take care xoxo
That’s so lovely to hear - thank you so much for watching and commenting. I’m so glad you find my videos helpful and best of luck for your love in august!! I’d happily grab a coffee with you when you’re around ☕️
Really insightful! Loved it lots 💕 Are you planing on making a video about what your plans are after you're done with uni? Do you want to stay in London, or are you moving back with your family?
Yess I definitely will make a video - atm it’s all up in the air. I’ve got some interviews for jobs in London and Edinburgh so might move back or might have to move up north. Luckily I have my flat till September so will get to enjoy the student life a little bit longer 🙌🏼
Holy guacamole! Rent is EXPEEEENSIVE in London! And i thought Madrid was! Wow, rents should be more restricted or more aids for young people... Sending love honey! Hope to see you here in Spain soon! =^.^=
I am not sure if you ever mentioned that in your videos but I was wondering if you took a student loan to pay for your degree! I did for my undergrad and I am still paying it off! Also I used to live in Dublin which surprisingly can be even more expensive! Going to live somewhere rural and working remotely has a lot more appeal to me recently haha!
Haha yess we did!! I have the second to top shelf and second to bottom shelf in the fridge and the top two draws in the freezer but if things get full after a Saturday weekly shop we might slightly overspill onto the other persons for a day or two but not a problem 🥰 we both love cooking thankfully so the kitchen is always full
groceries: £90-95 month travel home: £22 return to home probably 6 times a academic year =£135 a year =13.5 a month £45 every 2 months on transport for my gf=£22 a month going out: £100 a month shops/gifts: £20 a month accom (bills included): £800 month books for uni: £40? one off payment travel in london: £40 a month utilities: £10 that’s £1250 a month, pretty okay i’ll have my maintainance loan, family support, i have £6K saved of my own money, and a £5000 grant each year. will i be okay😬😬😬😬
Hey Mei! Idk which video this was but you spoke of an app where there's awesome student discount for concerts theatre etc. I'm trying SOOO hard to track it back but I can't seem to find it. Could you help me with this plss
Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Iceland and Asda are the cheaper shopping stores but M&S and Waitrose and sainsburys and tescos have some great discounted deals! 🧡
Hey - I feel it’s super normal to feel nervous about uni. I remember being really anxious about making friends and london being too big and getting lost all the time. Within the first year I felt so at home and knew where everything was (everything I needed anyway) and made lovely friends!!
Hahaha sadly they didn’t even give refunds for our online tuition this term... dont think there’ll be much compensation 🤣 regardless, the business school and the student union are especially very good
@@meiyingchow thank you! 🥰 I hope you have a pleasant weekend as well! 🥳 It is so lovely that you ve been to my Hanoi, and hopefully the pandemic could be over then we can see more places, we all are so ready for the long trips ^^.
