TOSHIBA No bootable device - please restart FIX!

- Update 12.2020: Try this if the Toshiba video does not help you: • No Legacy Boot Options...
Sometimes on new TOSHIBA laptops there will be found this problem. You will not be able to install Windows... Here is the FIX.
Steps:
1. Restart with CTRL+ALT+DELETE after the message No bootable device... appears;
2. Access laptop's BIOS Setup menu (F2 od Delete button);
3. In Security tab disable Secure boot if it is enabled;
4. In Advanced tab, in System Configuration change the boot mode from UEFI Boot to CSM Boot;
5. Press F10 and YES to save new settings and your laptop is ready to install WIndows.

Let's be at least grateful for the phones. 15yrs ago we would have to find another computer to put next to us to access info on how to find a solution!
I must say that your solution REALLY WORKED. I messed around and tried the disabled SECURE BOOT, but had no clue about the CSM boot.
This computer belongs to a customer and it gave me a harder time than any other portable I had toyed around with.

Thanks a bunch man, was considering getting a new laptop! For the first time in my life, a camera-phone-recorded youtube tutorial has actually worked.
After doing this it says "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"

For people who do this step and it comes up with "no bootable device -- please insert boot disk".
Turn the PC completely off, turn it back on holding F2 - go to Advanced - System Config - Boot Mode again and revert back to UEFI Boot from CSM Boot - hold F10 - save and exit.
Should work fine.

Thank you so much. Been routing through the settings for ages. Never even thought of this. After running the Toshiba Disk Management software in UEFI it wiped everything as expected but I never expected that it wouldn't auto boot from disc.

So I had this problem today. I'm on this channel after watching three videos but none worked. I was able to fix it with just a simple step. Care to guess?
I removed my Laptop battery (it was kinda dusty and I cleaned it. Not sure if it contributes to fixing the problem) put it back in and then waited few seconds before booting. It worked like Magic. I used this solution to fix most problems on my laptop (Toshiba) anyway.

was playing with partitions tool, restart required and could't do anything since .. created bootable USB using PowerISO but it didn't work until I tried the above .. so the combination of the two things solved my problem, many thanks and kudos to Bojan

Derp Squad1782 It turns out my hard drive got corrupted since I dropped my computer, if that is your case, then you will need a new hard drive, a new ssd, or a new computer, those are some of the only options if yours is like mine, in the end, it will cost you money
it won't cost you much. You can either buy a bootable Windows drive online for $5 - $15 and format your drive. Or if you have a friend with Windows 10 you can make a bootable drive of their computer/laptop.
Turtle Eater in some cases, but with mine, I had to buy a whole new ssd, replacing my harddrive, it cost about 200$
Flip your laptop open it
Disconnect the hard disk
And connect it again

I did all of this and it loaded up a black screen with some text on it. And at the bottlm it says no bootable device - - insert boot disk and press any key. What should i do thanks

You were fortunate. My Toshiba HD went bad so I installed a new one. No matter what settings were used, it would not boot from USB or the internal DVD drive. Tried everything from genuine Windows 7 Pro install disc to various linux usbs. NOTHING worked. The same media worked elsewhere. Finally took it in. The repair quote was more than the POS cost in the first place. I donated it to Goodwill and got an HP instead. Three years later and still not a single problem. Toshiba sucks.

Got a slightly different error message. Turning off "sleep and charge" allowed me to get windows running again. Weird, but hell yes and a big thank you!

Following these steps works...once. Then if I shut down my laptop completely, I run into the same issue and have to switch to UEFI, reboot, then go back to CSM to get back into the OS. If I restart windows (not shutdown) there are no issues.

If your life is a Toshiba laptop, you've got issues
i do it, but, after it the screen remains all in black, it doesn't start working, and if i turn it off and on, the problem re appear.
From those who can't change the bootmode. On UEFI go to 'Security' and disable the 'secure boot' option, now press F10 and restart on UEFI. This Will allows you to change the bootmode ;)

If after you follow all steps and it still has not worked i suggest checking your RAM cards, this happened to me for quite a while until I realized it was a bad RAM card which caused the error.
