I read documents a lot and I am getting old. So, I have always been looking for a e-reader. However, e-readers have limited functions. Until I found Boox products. The combination of e-ink screen and android OS is powerful, allowing me to read many documents on my google drive, check emails, and take handwriting notes. It looks okay and I have one sitting in my Amazon basket but two things put me off. It looks very laggy, and I really want to see how it writes with normal size text rather than big swooshes, or large capitalised letters. Actual, normal writing. Secondly, the security issues with it pinging China all the time.
- Can the keyboard cover be used with other (german f.e.) keyboard layouts? - How do two paged pdfs (scanned books, etc) look on the (compared to Max/ Lumi) smaller device? Still readable, or rather useless?
The e-reader should have option to allow connection with HDMI through an adapter and support color screen on an external monitor. Why not? It has a GPU and runs on Android.

Have you seen the Max Lumi model?
@@wilsoncj Yes, including Lumi 2 (the newest) but aside from that tablet, i wanna know does anybody else (company) makes another 13.3'' device and If not i dont see the reason why not making...or do they wait to implement new technologies like new Mobius Cartas or color-e-ink or Sharp screen tablets for the 13.3'' models, because I think this is the only reason they are not manufacturing. The 13 inch is best for A4 size paper replacement and including music scores. And I dont mean the GVIDO solution, too expensive and not a worthy upgrade.
Does it have linkage feature similar to Supernote A5X ? I.e. possibility to insert links into the note and then export it to PDF
The one thing that is missing is a fingerprint scanner/lock, to protect our documents and data.
It actually has fingerprint scanner according to the specifications.
The e-reader should have option to allow connection with HDMI through an adapter and support color screen on an external monitor. Why not? It has a GPU and runs on Android.
I wonder if you couldn't do a USB-C to HDMI cord for that purpose.
Oh wow, this is so cool!
Hopefully they'll have a version with 300ppi in the not too distant future 🙏
They do.
The tab ultra C is 300ppi and it's been out for months
Great review. Not sure its a fit for my needs. I dont need this for productivity, Ill read plain text books on a regular ereader, and look at cool pdf scans of books with colorful pictures on my good old Galaxy Tab S2. Dumping so much cash onto b&w unit for me is kinda eh, but to each his own. I'll wait for some more innovation 😉
Feature-wise, looks like it's got it all. The price though, still out of reach for most. Even more so if you plan to get it with the keyboard case.
Engineering is always a tradeoff. You get e-ink behind the glass feel and you get 1-2 days of use out of your battery.
i am ...... sold.... just thinking about saving and getting this, i guess the logitech keyboard and mouse also works with it.... only missing the headphone jack... lol... (avid user of the Sony Xperia line.... lol )
Looks amazing! Might just upgrade from my old kindle 😁
What was the pdf reader you used at 12min? Is that built in or something downloaded from Google Play Store?
Can you write with the pen elsewhere then notes? Like into browser or apps (like Anki?)
Awesome review!
E readers are evolving so fast, that I like the simple function of the kindle lol
I'm so excited about an eink tablet with a keyboard that I actually wetted myself. Is that normal?
Yes.
I am looking to buy a Onyx boox which tablet is the ideal for my purpose. I need the maximum storage possible125 GB and also Front light and colour. Which Onyx Boox is the best option to buy? Thankyou your opinion would be much appreciated. Hope too here from you soon.
Cool. Seems like it is a great device and Boox a company that listens to consumer feedback
Here for the contest. Done all those things :)
This looks really cool!
Looks fantastic!
If Android 12+ becomes compatible with EInk would you be able to upgrade to it? Or are you basically stuck with Android 11 forever so when Google stops supporting it you're stuck? I'm baked into the Apple ecosystem and never owned an Android so not sure how they work.
Heyyyy, excited for the Kindle giveaway. :D
Props for trying to game on XD. Actually not terrible
awesome refresh rate
Hey, does tab ultra support MHL for hdmi output? Like connecting to a projector or tv with a usb c to hdmi cable?
Does Tab Ultra have a voice recorder?
CRAZY... I WANT ONE!
This is really beautiful
