This is seriously the most helpful video I have ever watched and the best information I have been taught via the internet or in person about electronics, cant wait to learn more through the rest of the series.
As both a Yak owner and a Boat owner, I will tell you that offshore strategies are really tough in a Yak. The sheer amount of water you need to cover in order to find stuff offshore is what makes it limited in a kayak. In this video alone we saw Tyler cover an entire point and find basically nothing...then he puts in the big motor and goes to the next structure feature and repeats. It's hard to quickly bounce from spot to spot in a Yak just to look. Can it be done? Absolutely. Just know it's really hard and requires a lot of pedaling, paddling, or trolling. Not trying to discourage, but just making sure you know the realities.
@@toddlester8063 much appreciate Todd. I thank you for the time you spent writing this. I learn from those that are more experienced than I am. In my yak I’ll have to look and find structure in a location to fish, than back shallow when those are done.
Excellent first video. By combining the two parts together, really looking into a topo map of your lake at home, you can have a good idea what you want to image and check out before you even put the boat in water. I like to have a basic route in my head of what humps, breaks and points I want to see, and add to that when I get a feel for the conditions.
This video was the best one I have seen for utilizing graphs! Which is exactly what my focus is on right now. So awesome! When can we all look forward to the other videos?
@@cra-bassint.v.5664 I've seen a few of his and he does give some really good info. For some reason I just find him hard to listen to. Thanks for the input!
Glad to see this series of vids. I’ve had some success catching suspended bass but a lot of days just can’t get them to react! You see them out there and your bait passing by but just no luck getting them to react. I hope you address these situations. Enjoy your vids, hard work and the effort it takes to produce what you do!
Great video! Remember, contours and bottom features are “structure”. Brush piles, grass, docks - basically everything that’s not part of the lake bottom - are “cover”.
Wow Tyler, Great video, I just started fishing last year, lucky enough to have bought a Tracker boat and a Lowrance Carbon graph which have yielded me no more more bass than when I first started bass fishing from the bank😂 I watch a lot of your videos, BassHq, Evers videos; Tactical Bassin, BUT I have I’m really excited about this series as you have a great way to explain things that my brain understands, so thank you for putting out this type of content as it is really helping a lot of guys like me that get frustrated with have made some investments in this sport but not seeing a return on there investments because they do not fully understand how to use there equipment. All you guys are super helpful and speak to me in a different way, but I’m really pumped about this series! Thanks dude
Good stuff Ty I was surprised you did not explain that when in side scan if you have it set at a range of 80' and are in 20' you are actually only scanning out 60' the transducer must shoot down first then out. Also surprised that when you spun around after seeing something on s.s. why not go to down scan to really get a good look at what you seen on side scan? Looking forward to the next videos Thanks Tyler
That is a good point, and one that I will bring up in the future episodes. The second point, I actually did talk about. I prefer to use forward facing to check, especially if I plan on fishing that spot right after I graph near it. I would prefer not to graph directly over something, and then try to fish it
@@TylersReelFishing I forgot you have forward facing .I will check with D.S. then come back later to fish.My next purchase will be Lowrance version of 360 that should help me also
I love fishing. Yesterday, I was cleaning off my hands in the lake, and my class ring fell into the water. It was like 12 foot deep. I kept on fishing because the show must go on. I messed the knot up on my spinnerbait, I was casting when the line snapped, and half of my rod flew into the lake also.
I know this is a year old, but just wanted to let you know it's pronounced TOP-OH-GRAPH-IC. Anyway, thanks for the video I'm considering buying a boat to get off the bank for fishing.
Really excited for this series Tyler. It’s exactly the type of instruction that can make a difference in a new anglers results. Quick question - why do I often see things on the bottom to either the left or the right of the black area on the side scan but rarely does it appear on both sides? If I’m running right over top of something shouldn’t it show up on both sides???
Hello Sir, thanks for putting out this incredible video! I live in Southern WI and fish natural lakes. I have a Humminbird with Navionics and CHIRP 2D Sonar. IS there anything you reccomend? Thanks again!
Great job! What exact Garmin unit are you using when you are sitting/cruising? Do you recommend it? As I begin to look at upgrading my old Lowrance hook 7 it is DAUNTING to figure out what unit to buy that has what I need...again THANK YOU 🇺🇸🎣
I’ll use one of two Garmin Echomap units. I also work with The Bass Tank, Who is the nations biggest online retailer of fishfinders. Give them a call and they will be super helpful, letting you know exactly what your next step should be in purchasing the fishfinder that is best for you! Let them know I sent you too
It’s funny to see the southern and central bass guys talking about off shore fishing being from 10-30 feet deep. Come to the Pacific Northwest and fish these true highland bodies of water where you are 150 feet deep 15 feet from shore lol.
@@TylersReelFishing there is a growing bass fishing scene out west. I wish there was more content available about fishing these deep western bodies of water. Idaho state record smallmouths are constantly being caught 5 mins from my house at Dworshak and that lake is literally 800 feet deep but doing anything other than hugging the shoreline seems too daunting for me and I only ever catch endless dinks. I have zero confidence in chasing schools of Kokanee hovering at 50 feet in 600 feet of water and chucking swimbaits down there into the schools….. but that must be how they are catching these 10 lbs monsters cause they are definitely NOT on the banks hahaha
Fishing is fishing either you get it or you don't. My nephew is a gamer. You might be that type, but me a hunter. Catch and release praise YAHWEH! But kendergarden nephew guess I'll show him and his whole 5 yrs old. #THISSHITSTOEAZY

The Navionics App
