As a photographer I really liked your comparison.
On the same topic: when a photog uploads his pictures online, he’s usually taken great care to size them correctly and use the correct amount of compression, to avoid having the hosting site compress and resize them.
My point is: if you’re mastering your track at -10 LUFS and the site you’re uploading to has loudness normalization to -14 LUFS, aren’t you running the risk of them compressing your track in a way you no longer have control of ?

That's awesome!!! That's why the results of 2 different studios mixing my song didn't go well especially when collapsing in mono! No more clarity, contrast, vocals spitting out the device and all the rest super flat, yet burried. As haven't given up on mastering it properly, I found your tutorial and this is a gem to me! Thank you very much. Happy ending of the year celebrations to you

So glad to hear!! I am a huge advocate for dynamic range, it helps the song live and breathe!

Nice information. I got a new headset and turning up DRC improved the sound quality and made it less annoying to listen to. I wanted to know what DRC was.

Given that compressed version can always be derived from dynamic one, offering listeners uncompressed version, in fact, creates flexibility.

I think you may be confusing HDR with Contrast. They are different things.

So why does audio interfaces between two different models, where one have more "dynamic range" than the other? It does not make any sense, does it mean that the audio interface can detect more "loudness" than the other audio interface? BTW the photo analogy is a good explanation, shows that music needs to have dynamics.

In that case it's usually the dynamic range of the device, whether it's capture or playback. So if it has a smaller range, it'll have a higher noise floor and or it'll clip before something with bigger dynamic range

It depends on the format and what you're delivering to
