You said you thought the steak would be bigger but you did only ask for a 300gm one
If I was offered Kangaroo I’d have jumped at it .
I appreciate your modesty when passing dodgy shops " i dont know what shop this is" .. lovely. 😅
Last time I was in an Australian restaurant I was in a hurry so I ordered kangaroo steak and told the waiter to hop to it!
He came back saying that they had none left and offered me camel instead. Now that really gave me hump.
So finally I settled for crocodile steak and told him to make it snappy!
😂😂😂
... I'm here all week! 🤣
Thanks Lee was great meeting you all the best for the future. Welcome back any time enjoy the rest of Australia 🇦🇺
You did well Charlie, enjoy the rest of your time in Perth, and safe travels....From a Manc ex pat.
My Dad grew up with his parents working a fish’n’chips shop every day. He was up before dawn, peeling potatoes for three hours before school, and after school, he was back at it prepping for the next day’s chips as well. With the arrival of frozen potatoes, that saved many hours of labour that can be better utilised elsewhere, so unless you are making chips at home from scratch, you’re not likely to find handmade chips at a restaurant.
Rod Hull will be turning in his grave though Michael Parkinson might be happy. 😀
No difference eating Deer (Venison) so popular in Europe and USA, to having Kangaroo, a very lean tasty healthy meat.
Lee I've noticed the pints go down well, might have something to do with our temperature.
Best to stay away from Northbridge late evening Lee
Outback jacks is like weatherspoons for steaks. Truely b grade chain.
When you cook an Emu, you put it in a massive pot with a big rock. You boil it for 12 hours and then throw the Emu out and eat the rock!!!! lol
12:30 Yep, the steak is perfect for me. I don't like steak that's practically raw inside. Neither do I like well done. When I cook a steak at home it's got to be well marbled ribeye. I take it out of the fridge 45 minutes before cooking. I lightly cover it with cling film in case of flies in the summer. To cook, I sprinkle Kucharek Polish seasoning powder on both sides of the steak and rub it in. Then I get a stainless steel pan very hot and add a small amount of sunflower oil. When the oil is also very hot I put in the steak and leave *untouched* for 30 seconds. Then I turn it over and fry also for 30 seconds. Then repeat. Flip and 30 seconds. Flip once more and 30 seconds. Total cooking time: 2 minutes. Of course, it depends on the thickness of the steak and how you like yours, but for me this method works every time. Just after I've taken the steak out to rest for a few minutes, I pour off excess oil, then drizzle a small amount of cold water into the pan, turn the heat up to maximum and scrape the bottom to produce a delicious jus from all the caramelised bits of steak. Pour the jus over the steak, grab the chips from the air fryer. Heaven!
Still English people abroad wanting food to be the same as at home, go to Spain for a Roast Dinner? We don't have a culture of using fresh potatoes for chips especially in Pubs and Restaurants but use frozen ones, it's not neccesarily wrong, just different.!
im suprised you walked past the first three shops
I once went to an Australian-themed pub/restaurant where everyone was eating kangaroo steaks- the place was jumping!😂
Let's go to the hop ..oh baby 🎵
I skipped the desert though when I went there.
Mate so are the cows in N Ireland, they're all grass fed. We have the best meat in the world.
Australia has the best beef along with Argentina. They are renowned for it.
I've never heard that Ireland has the best meat.
Alot of Australia's cattle are also open range, you can't compete with how pure and untouched the lands are in remote Australia.
When I visited Australia a generation ago, I had dinner at a bar-and-grill where I ordered a "wild game shishkabob" including kangaroo, emu, camel, & crocodile. The camel was wonderful and the crocodile was just as bad as you think it is.
Outback Jack is really nothing special, it's a franchise like Hog's Breath Cafe. Fillet steak is a mater of personal taste, I prefer a lovely 30mm thick porterhouse maybe
with a buttery mushroom sauce. We eat Kangaroo quite a bit in winter and I prepare it like I would make a deer goulash, with juniper berries, bay leaf, cloves etc. with
red wine and other goodies. I really enjoy watching your videos and I like you showing restaurant menus with the prices. Vert interesting. Carl QLD
I lived in Northbidge 34 years ago. Still see its most exiting part of Perth.
It's twice as big now
All those dead streets around the main part of northbridge are now lively streets as well. You would be shocked if you haven't seen northbridge since 1990 ..Perth in general actually .it was 1 million population then and now it's just hit 2.3 million..totally different city now
Good Evening Lee. Lots of Unique eateries to choose what Interesting Food and Drink to have for ones meal. Lee, You have chosen spot on. Straight away Excellent and very Friendly Customer Service and that really lovely person touch and appreciation towards the Customer. Charlie, what a Lovely young man. Politeness and Courteousy costs nothing. Proper Customer Service. Your steak Lee was absolutely the Best i have ever seen. Chips were Good and a nice salad garnish, not to much. A lovely chilled pint to wash it all down with. Yes Lee, You should go back there and do the Special Meats Platter. I look forward to seeing the film Lee. Hope you are Enjoying your Australian Adventure Lee. Where has the MacMaster gone my Friend??
Go back for the jacks game sampler plate, wont get a second chance, so go for it....
I loved watching the pedestrians as you walked passed the shops. Great video as always. They do bungie jumping in Australia. I think you would enjoy that Lee, well we certainly would 😂.
I've been watching since you landed Lee & glad to see you've experienced the heat of a Perth Summer..but hopefully you can appreciate it at a cooler temp too before taking off.
Yes, it's a more laid back state here thankfully. Clean too like most of Oz.
$48 is too rich for my blood for a steak. Plus I much prefer a Scotch Fillet ..aka boneless Rib Eye.
Get yourself an Akubra or something similar for sun protection mate 👍👍
The beaches are the best in Australia too.
Cape Le Grande in Esperance is on another level though! Lucky Bay voted the world's best beach in 2023. Whitest sand in Australia also...with Kangaroo's 🦘🦘 that visit it daily.
It's a 7hr drive or direct flight is 1hr 35. Your drone would absolutely love it!!🤯 🚁📹
Hard to see everything hey!
Mmmm, nice 10oz fillet Lee!
Personally as a master butcher, I like a T-Bone steak so you get best of both, the tenderness of the fillet & the flavour of the sirloin! Nice one!👍👏👏👏❤️
Well at least you didn’t have fish and chips or tikka masala for once.
Surprised he didn’t say anything was dry for once although said the chips were hard. Everything always dry according to MM. Even the water is dry 🤷🏻, mind blowing.
Great video! I enjoyed seeing the sights there and I liked the food hall as well. The steak dinner at Outback Jacks looked enjoyable and young Charlie's chat was a nice addition. I believe he will do well in his TH-cam channel too.
Fair score that mate and looked a lovely steak. It coukd have been bigger for the price. I'll go 8.5/10 on this one buddy. I've had kangaroo burgers in the past and they are nice, but nithing spectacular. Similar to pork i found. Great video Lee and thanks as always for sharing👍
That steak looked tasty Lee cooked to perfection 😋😋😋
Thanks
Nice vibes.
That's a Knife. 🤣
Look forward to seeing if Charlie makes a channel.
Have a great weekend. x
If you reenacted the Paul Hogan scene, I know you won't have been the first one who's done it.😂🇬🇧
That steak looked really good, perfectly cooked too. Great video as always mate
Great video again Lee, 🥩 looked spot on.
Two weeks have gone already, time goes so quickly.
It depends on the cut for Kangaroo, I've had some that's been as nice and tender as fillet steak, must give the others a try when I'm next there, for fish & chips I've found the best to be in Rockingham down by the sea front.
That was Aladdins cave for cuisines what a choice on offer at the buffet. That steak looked really juicy. 👍
Years ago the local pub had a down under night sponcered by fosters and we had kangroo sandwitch that was quite nice
I see you've caught the sun a bit Lee, be careful.
Definitely should have tried the game platter! I visited a jungle restaurant in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and had a similar experience but I ordered the seafood platter which had frog legs, octopus and other oddities. I remember that meal above several five star meals I’ve had including one at a very exclusive London restaurant! Go Back! By the by, if you truly want the best steak in the world, the best I’ve ever experienced wasn’t even from a cow but rather an American Bison. I had Bison fillet mignon in Deadwood South Dakota. My good lord that was the best steak I’ve ever encountered! Btw, Australia looks beautiful!
Puerto Vallarta - great place and excellent food.
Most of us don't eat Roo, Emu, Croc and Camel. It's for the tourists.
Whenever I watch your food videos my mouth is always watering Lee. 👍
I visit England every few years and had English grass-fed beef on a 2015 visit with a group from various parts of the USA and Canada. The Englishman (by then a U. S. resident) in our group warned me that I’d be disappointed and that eating beef in Stratford-upon-Avon is ridiculous for an American. He was right.
My last visit I ate a lot of fish and chips, sometimes not bothering with chips. Lots of fish roes - hard to get here in Florida (fish here in Florida is surprisingly hard to get fresh, and more expensive than steak).
lee you have travelled all that way just to eat the same foods you eat at home come on mate try some new things should have went for that platter
Why are you surprised!!?
English abroad don’t think so 😂
Where's the 40 plus minute video Lee😮 I was getting use to the longer format 😂keep them coming Mac loving this series. Onwards 😎👉
Not skippy the Bush kangaroo
Kangaroo is not the best but it's cheap 😂. Give it a go Lee. When in Rome?
Hahahaha, you poor bastard. It must have been so hard to really enjoy that Steak, no matter how good it was, when all your heart really wanted was to be back over the road smashing down some of that awesomeness ........ but there's always next time lol :)
Go for the platter..but the centre across the street looked fabulous too😊
Steak looked perfect. Shame about the chips and garnish. For that price you needed more on the plate. Please go back and try the mixed meat platter.
Loved a bit of Kangaroo, Ostrich and Crocodile when I was in Aus. Haven't had Emu though Lee.
Kangaroo is lean red meat that is rich in iron. It’s eaten widely throughout Australia and is bought at all supermarkets. I like it but I don’t love it, so it’s not on the menu at our place. Probably best cooked on the BBQ. Lamb, pork, chicken and beef is a more popular choice of meat. 15:28
Marinate kangaroo over night in a container off Port it's beautiful and dosnt taste gamey at all its sweet and beautiful
Emu ....just an overgrown turkey
Yes, the steak looked great and very tender to cut, it made me fancy one, NOW! The price was about the norm for fillet steak, but I thought the plate looked a bit sparse, I'd personally would have liked some extra touches like onion rings and an egg or a mushroom or something. I'd have to give the steak itself a 10, loved it, but the whole meal was a bit lacking and very disappointing.
This area certainly looks more lively than anywhere else you've been so far and an evening video from there would be nice.
Surely you have to at least sample the croc, emu and kangaroo whilst you're there though. 😀
you ever been to Bang Bang in London, Edgeware road? awesome food place, I need to do a food review of Bang Bang, used to go 2 or 3 times a week, loads of different Asian street foods, their Vietnamese Pho soup is amazing! Another good food run from yourself, wondered when you were going for a steak dinner, love it, keep up the good tours! Well done!
Mr Mac, you should really go back and have the tasting platter, apart from being an experience, it is also something that you won't be able to get back home. Go for it mate, we all want to see what you think.
Title made me think he'd been to the cafe at the zoo 🤣
That looks a nice place Lee, and another great video.
Probably similar to 🐊crocodile,I tried alligator in Florida & did not like it.
I’ve heard people describe it as tasting “too gamey”(American term)?
You have to get a “Crocodile Dundee” hat for a souvenir before you leave & maybe one for Geoff buys cars too.
I could sit in that little Asian food court all night and try everything, that’s a bit of me that!
Kangaroo is lovely. It is best to have lighting cooked. Kangaroo is the healthiest and most environmentally friendly protein available.
Guy from Watford - not far from North London where am currently - not been there perhaps only once though known of it for years
Enjoy Lee 😊🇬🇧
The grass fed Steak looked cooked to perfection ( but it has to be got to be Bleu or Rare) but the frozen chips are a fail for me. £22 +/- for the meal was OK and £6 for a beer is a bit pricey. So it's a 8 for the service and just for the Geoff steak. Lost 2 for the frozen chips.
I think Lee needs to stop in there again and at least try the crocodile.
I would have to find out what it tastes like.
It tastes between fish and chicken...
Yeah. very true. People expect it to have a strong taste but it's quite mild. I usually grab a Croc Pie or two for Sunday brunch myself :) @@pietjemol3420
Strewth! 40+ degrees! That’s over a 100 in old money!
Great video Lee. Enjoyed it.
That steak looked absolutely perfect cooked just right melt in the mouth. Nice guy from Watford soon to be on his travels. That Northbridge area looked super busy nightlife, bars, cafes etc. I wonder if it’s the place to be at night.
Lee can thoroughly recommend Kangaroo. (It's a bit gamey but a very lean meat and wonderful for your heart!). Emu is good and crocodile is alright. Australian cuisine has come a long long way especially the last 20 years has really stepped up.
roo is delicious though over cooked like boot leather - still good they sell it in packs in supermarkets with a sauce - definitely better with a fruit type sauce but meat is often better with such pork and apple, lamb and mint (well not fruit but am sure some have something with it) - roo with some bush berry sauce would be great! super lean meat too and highly sustainable there are more roos in Australia than humans and often need culling to keep level under control in the past was just pet food until someone realised its actually very bloody good!
Northbridge is the place to go for dim sum/yum cha.
We call them Food Halls Lee, and The Old Shanghai is one of the oldest and best ones around. Great food and a great vibe. Sadly, due to ever increasing rents, they are few and far between nowadays.
I'm so glad you made it to our beautiful country. Loving your videos. I've never gotten to WA. I wish we had a chance to meet you, but we don't live anywhere near Sydney. Enjoy your time over here! Watch out for the drop bears!
Thanks Karen. 😂 DropBears. 😂
Really loving the Australia vlogs Lee, you've got to try the platter
Got offered local food WOW
The Asian street food place looks amazing. I'd love to see what Australia's take on a curry is like compared to the UK's. Your mission Lee, should you choose to accept it...
Yea... Kangeroo is a giant rat :/ I have had Camel and I would not reccomend! But Crocodile, for sure.... and as the young bloke said, he liked the Emu, which I'm sure is fine :) Steak looked OK but a bit overcooked for my taste. You didn't mention the salad, but it looked quite nice and better than usual UK offerings. Chips is chips - you said they are frozen ones, but looked good on the plate. Yes, the other place with a huge variety of Asian stalls looked interesting - can't wait to see you visit that. You'd need a mate or two though to do it justice (mix and compare different dishes.). Great vid Lee.
Had kangaroo steak in Victor Harbor, SA in 2020 and was the best piece of food in a very long time.
The centre you showed reminds me of the hawker centres in Singapore.
Kangaroo is great with a nice taste, l have had it many times, if you like liver you will like kangaroo, you must have it cooked rare... Peter Northampton UK.
Very funny, Think kangaroo tastes a bit like swan.Lol.
i have had Kangaroo curry in a Chinese restaurant in Sydney and it was really tasty and a bit spicy, i would definitely have it again
Interesting research.
Hey that steak look fantastic and so did the chips . the servers were nice and friendly . my score is a 10 that little street looks lovely with all the little shops and restaurants . glad to see that you are enjoying every single minute of your time there . it's so clean. Even the parks . and not va scrap of paper on the floor not many people around xxx
Hey Lee, steak looked great, looks like a nice place with a good vibe which I like and Charlie seems like a sound young man. Defo loving that food hall over the road too!! Perth is now on my bucket list.
Nice one lee food looked great plenty of food places to try!!
Weve been commenting all week to get a wide brimmed hat... Akubra or similar.
You spend $48 on a steak(screw that), yet you won't buy a proper hat for your pohmie bonce! 😯 🤦♂️
That cap is crap for sun protection here.... how's your ears & neck doing? Lol
Only 30°c today, but back to the 39°c by tomorrow (Sat) & 43°c on Sunday.
Try the roo,croc & emu👍👍
All great if done properly.
Haven't had wild boar since I was in Romania in '92.
Lee, I've had a Kangaroo Burger and it was the best burger I've ever had. Mmmmm that's a tasty burger. Onwards!!
If I had ordered Jack’s Game Sampler Plate I would feel like I was a contestant on I’m A Celebrity,lol 🐗 🦘 🐊 🐪
Looks fantastic Lee!
Steak looked lovely tbh I’ve had kangaroo and crocodile burgers and both meats where superb you should try it love these Aussie vlogs lee too
Kangaroo is bloody great mate, it's the leanest red meat you can eat
Steak looked great
The Asian food place looks wonderful. No wonder you were tempted to steak did look beautiful though.
Finally joined you in WA, arriving after 25 hours flying from Reno.
Keep getting your excellent content out showing folks what a stunning place WA is.
Lee forget that James Street food hall rubbish, take a short walk down William Street Northbridge the main road just off James Street and see all the proper Asian restaurants or come for a longer walk to the Beaufort street cafe strip! The CBD is dead for tourists in the evening or early evening.
Thanks Mate.
You said rather small steak Lee. To be fair, it was quite a thick wedge so i guess it would have been ok for me. Excellent to look at and just on seeing it, i gave it a 9 .. Another great video but you simply have to get up close and personal to some wildlife. It`s going pretty well this trip you are on and though i have never been to Australia i reckon you are going to have a bit of a culture shock when you get to Sydney. Totally different i believe.. Thank you!
The steak looked banging nicely cooked the salad 🥗 looked good to me the place itself looked really nice
Go on Lee getting up the hill well done great video onwards my friends👍😀
Impressive they have the massage shop right next to the peep show shop!
Perth's answer to Soho it looks like.
There is lots of brothels and peep shows and sex shops in that part of Perth
You should try Hood Burger in the food court you went to!! Also Sauma used to be nice not so sure now. The great British Chippy in Currambine is nice and also can get cups of tea 😂
Go to leederville Lee , its full of restaurants and shops and it gets busy every night
Are you coming to Sydney? Happy to give you a tour of Manly!
Oz is a place only a few of us will get to and all you are doing is an eating tour! We would like to see more places of interest and less of you staring at menus then something with a mound of chips that you can get at home! 🍟🍟🍟
I guess you missed today's video of Rottnest Island.
@@TheMacMaster No saw you, great but a little too long in places.
By the way have to tell you of one eateries you recommended, we made a beeline for in Benelmadana. The Drunken Sailor, it was fabulous. Thanks for the recommendation, food was amazing, we made the trip from Málaga and a tipsy trip back thanks to the huge jug of sangria.
Love The Drunken Sailor! :0)
The cost of living in this country is ridiculous now. Can you let us know how our prices compare to the UK please?
Good day - I thought my eyes deceived me but ASAHI 3.5% at 08:03 ? why not Zero alcohol % as in UK - What I love and appreciate is the diversity and multi culturalism of Perth. I just love Mick Croc Dundee quips - How do you like your goanna? Medium? Well done?
EV behind you lmao well an electric scooter 😂😂
You should try some of the vietnamese restaraunts in northbridge the food is lovely
