The details about wrist movement and timing were super helpful. Can't wait to try this in my next match! Thanks for the pro tips. 🙌

Very nice, thank you. It could have been interesting to add a final point about the footwork to get in position for the third ball after this serve, when it's done short to the forehand (I guess you would go somewhere in the middle of the table), and when it's done long to the backhand (I guess you would stay a bit more in your backhand side).

Thats one way to do it. I prefer doing it the chinese way with an open racket, but this is much more tricky and maybe you need a tacky forehand rubber for it to work precisely this way. I can do this with both upspin and downspin, long and short. The sidespin is usually always there, but I sometimes do a nospin with the same movement for variation, but its not that effective. When you get efficient with this, you can do a short sidespin to your opponents forehand, which is quite effective since the body movement disguises the amount of upspin/downspin. The point of doing it with open racket every time is that its hard to see the contact point when you move your racket in four directions and always fully open facing your opponent. The downspin is produced by hitting at the point where the racket moves downwards, which means hitting it into about one quarter to a half distance between the backline and the net of the table, which create a long bounce, but short landing point for the ball on the other side of the net. Be really careful though, while training this serve, I have split a blade (the wood) in two by hitting the edge of the table! Be ready to do thousands upon thousands of repetitions to master this serve.

Thank you, this is very informative. Also can you do more slow motion as it is very good to enable visualization of the shot

Good point, for now you can slow down the speed also in the youtube player 👍

    Hi,
Could we send some video during which we perform the reverse pendulum backspin serve

I wonder if ITTF will do something that effectively remove this serve. As you state yourself the toss when performing this serve needs to be a bit inwards and almost every player using this serve has a rather long arc in the toss.
The other factor is that the boll is often hidden in some stage which is also against the rules.
So if the umpires would start to implement the rules more strict this serve would lose a lot of its advantages. With a straight up toss it is much more difficult to disguise the spin.
And what does the ITTF want? They probably prefer rallies rather than to see top-players mis-read serve after serve.

all nice! Unfortunately there is no single book for table tennis, or a single bible. One coach / pro- player advises to lean against the table, the other not to lean, to allow free movement where the table isn't in the way. But his video😀 is worth the view for sure....!

Nice video, but you shouldn't encourage viewers to serve illegally, and by that I mean the throwing towards you part.
