- Shawn Pilot ( known as the Wheeler Dealer at Gotham Garage on the Netflix hit series Car Masters Rust to Riches ) rescues the original paint on an old classic '71 Corvette that he bought on Craigslist for $3500. He then takes it for a tire smoking test drive through a 70's Hollywood car chase movie.
Visit the Corvette Central Shawn Pilot page for a list of all the parts installed on this '71 Corvette.

Dude remembered his password! 😂😂😂
Right....guy better have 15 of these damn cars done!!!!!😂
😂facts
Lol
You know we are in for a broadcast quality video.
He’s been on TV. Contractually bound
I’m amazed you were able to bring that original paint back without burning thru more than that. The actual time you spent is seriously misrepresented here. Great looking car. Nice job.
You back on youtube is like drinking a cold beer with a good friend you haven't seen in years.
His enthusiasm is contagious and inspiring
I’m just glad it doesn’t have any stupid spider webs or god awful “Gotham touches” on it.
Agreed. To each their own, but the only cars I've ever seen Gotham make that i in any way liked were the old hot rods.
Your a dark horse mate, love your work 😂
I want there to be strong messaging about how crappy mark's ideas were on Gotham. Total hack. A moron too.
Agree, those spiders webs are stupid plain ugly
Omg yes 😂😂😂
Honestly idc how long it takes to make these videos cause it shows how much effort you’ve put into them. Keep it up shawn 👍
Great Christmas present Shawn, thank you for returning!!!
How long has it been??? I thought either fb was blocking me from his vids or I had done something to remove myself from receiving his vids!!!
Good video work😂
Love it
Stated driving in the early seventy lots of cheap mopars during the oil crises loved these vets
Love the Car. My Dad is Corvette Nerd but never did buy one. He is stuck in a nursing home with late stage parkinsons and he loves Corvettes and i can't wait to show him these videos.
I forgot this channel existed, till this popped up
So did Shawn
When I was age 17 in 1978 I got a 71 LT1 C3 this same color which I think is Ontario Orange. My dad was an engineer and had interests. + It had the big block hood labeled LT1 and hooker headers chrome side pipes (loud). I didn't know the car was rare although suspected and neither did the previous owner. I'm loving this project now at age 63. Ah memories. I'm back in time right now. Thanks Shawn.
Remember even in the 90s, car shows auto swap meets, nobody paid attention to the LT1 cars you could buy them for peanuts.
This is hands down some of the BEST automotive content on TH-cam bar none. Incredible work man, this is literally my dream build and it looks so fantastic!
It's good but you really need to watch Legit Street Cars if you think that.
I like this guy just as much as Tom's Refurb! Both amazing automotive content creators and two of my favorites!
My older brother had that EXACT color on his 71 stingray ragtop. He had that car for 15 + years from around 1977. He sold it, and years later saw it driving down some road, u-turned and bought it again. It was a thing of beauty.
Great show. I’m 62 and still dream of having this car. Keep the shows like this coming.
No way I just saw what I just saw, a man took a blade, scratched off paint which most people would cringe at doing and was able to save the original paint, plus some awesome patina…… this is Beautiful, YOU ROCK DUDE!
It was unreal and perfectly done. Such a great car.
Holy crap. I watch a lot of corvette videos. I even make my own on my channel. What you have done here is probably the most spectacular thing currently on TH-cam in dealing with c3 life. This was simply awesome. 10/10
ya he nailed it, went 11
So glad you are coming back! I have been anxiously awaiting the release of your next video. You have such high energy and are so knowledgeable about all things Corvette. It’s fascinating to watch your videos. Look forward to many more. Thanks again for the new upload coming.
I absolutely love this car. Something about the body lines of these old Vettes really do it for me. You did a great job Shawn. These Corvettes were not "perfect" from the factory, I think you restored it right where it needed to be. I hope to have something like this someday. Peace
Dude…where the heck have you been, really missed the show. Woo Hoo…and Merry Christmas !
hes been workin on this Vette! haaa!
@@gsmith207exactly what I was thinking…working on this car AND working on that neat video/movie production…
The Vette looks great! Uncovering the 50 year old paint and then rescuing it, blemishes and all, really adds character that garage queens lack.
Shawn, you are a true entertainer and you have an uncanny ability to keep me on the edge of my seat. Your talent is stellar! I've been in the automotive business for 32 Years and I've been a Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician for 25 of those years. Your classic car knowledge proves your professionalism. Keep up the good work and video editing precision!
67 here and the C3 still has the lines I like. Every time I see one (not much here in snow country Maine) I still say "dang, thats over 50 years old".
I bought a ‘71 Vette in the early ‘80’s and it didn’t look nearly as good as yours! Had the same paint job (but gold) and side pipes. What you did is nothing short of amazing. Absolutely beautiful and best part is, it’s a driver. Well done!!!
Smoking car. Congratulations on an amazing revival. Good to have you back. Keep em coming please! 🇨🇦
YES! Glad the channel is alive again!
Great Video!!! Thanks for the memories Shawn... My old 76 was not a hot rod, but I did dream of making it one... once upon a time.
Three days up and already nearly a thousand comments!!!
Yes, I have bought from Corvette Central too… great build and great videography.
You have earned your corvette-chops:)))
You’ve done this car justice. I love the orange and love that you cleared to keep the patina. Incredible.
31:32 also that is the most perfect corvette I’ve ever seen brother. No honestly, I love original. And there’s nothing more original than your God given vision of bringing that stingray back to life.
It's my dream car, what a rescue! I live in Manchester UK, it's not lotus, it's not Ferrari, Jaguar or Lamborghini, it's always been the seventies Corvette for me and you just nailed it! AWESOME Man! Thank you.
Man, I kept checking and checking and checking. I hope you give us a reason for the wait. Awsome!!!!
Watching from the Philippines 🌴 Happy to see your back ! So entertaining.
Hell yeah!!! I thought that you faded away. Super glad you are back !
Perfect restoration type for me. No trailer queen and replaced all the rubber and gaskets. Most guys spend everything on motor and paint and leave the rest to rattle and whistle. Great project, anticipating the next one!
Dude no way my boy Shawn is back 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is my first time seeing this channel I'm hooked just on the effort this guy puts in these videos
love your energy man great videos i find comfort in your videos
Glad to see more new content. That distressed hood to match the body was phenomenal, that is not easy to pull off and it looks perfect.
So glad your back dude. Love your enthusiasm. Dying breed man!
I was 2+ years old when I saw my first orange corvette in the early 70's. THIS IS THE COLOR that made me drive my mom and dad crazy, because from that moment on, EVERY orange car was an "Orange Corvette". That's why I still love orange TicTacs...it all started with this color. You totally nailed it, so happy you kept the original paint. She's a genuine beauty. Congrats!
To the Corvette Prophet, thank you for getting me hooked on Vette's. Glad you're back making content brother!
Corvette Ben would like a word.
Bout time you shared some more TH-cam content, I start watching you 2 years ago. Have not seen anything new so I am glad you are back, That corvette looks proper now. Great work!
I was like, ”dude, Is he back?!”
(The car is perfect!!!)
Shawn, where have you been, mate? It's good to see you back doing what makes you smile 😃. Oh, the Vette's a beauty.
I discovered this channel like a month ago so it’s like he never left 😂
Shawn!!!! Long time no uploads. Wonderful build. Thanks for laying it down right again!!!!
I love what you done with the 1971 Corvette. It's a beautiful Surviver. Perfect in my opinion and your work is absolutely amazing and beautiful...
I only have TH-cam because of your channel please keep uploading. Thank you
2:31 You are a young man after my 79 year young Corvette bodyman/painter's heart ! ❤ . . . . . . Keep up the great work ! . . . . . . .😊
Dude!!! Finally another Video, it’s been like a year.. hahah my wife and I were just talking about you. Love seeing you back
Hi Shawn👋 I'm from germany and want tell you, I'm really happy with you about this beautiful corvette 🙏 she 's awesome
Yes!, Yes!, Yes! Finally back. Love your channel!
Great build. Love the 68 through 72 corvettes. Color turned out great with the black stripes!😄
That intro: "By and large the most expensive shot of the movie."
Welcome back! This is amazing - don’t ghost us again…. Love your work, humour and approach. Much love from Ontario Canada ❤
Awesome car. You brought it back to life and looks great. And your videos are one of a kind. Thanks for posting
I've been waiting for Shawn to post for SO long. Thanks for the amazing present.
I am not a huge fan of the 70's era corvettes but this one has got me hooked!! Very nice job Shawn.
It’s been so loooooong Shawn!
And now you tease us with long hours of waiting… can’t wait…
That 💩 sure is a thing of beauty now. Hard work pays off and the editing was BRAWWWWWW!!!.
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN YOUNG MAN? WE'VE BEEN WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!
But seriously thanks for coming back. You're so much better than a network program! Merry Christmas 🎄 from Australia 🦘
Probably recording that Netflix show
I love the paint job! Sounds great too! Thanks for coming back man.
He’s back baby
This is down right bad ass! I would love to have a Corvette. Still waiting to finally buy one.
Glad to see you back Shawn!
I remember finding this channel subscribing, and binging the whole video library--- then I forgot all about it, I thought I dreamed it or something...
The quality of these videos is off the chart.
Love that model Vette. The checkerboard Louvers are the best. Sean you really did an amazing job. Putting in all knew weatherstripping. The high end interior really made the car outstanding. Only thing I didn’t like was the side pipes oh and the tail wrap stripe. I’ve seen that before on a really nice paint job and didn’t like it then either. Oh and if Chevy wanted side pipes on those checkerboard louvered year cars, they would have offered them. Otherwise a beautiful restoration of the first car I ever drove when I was 14.
Outstanding and awesome content. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.
So excited to see another upload! Keep it up.
That was a blast! And not just the soda kind…
Great humor and fun while bringing back the orange. Makes me want to go looking for a ‘vette!
Thanks for some Christmas cheer!
what a beautiful build! i love the paintwork ;-)
love the car! first time seeing you and what you do. real good work and drive you have! at 61, i still love to mess with old chevys. peace
Happy to see you post videos again
Great restoration Shawn! All your hard work really paid off. That car is totally awesome!!!!!
Good to see you back
Yay! You're videos are like mini movies. So much fun! Thanks and jealous of your find.
Welcome back Shawn, lets not wait a whole year for another episode, they are great, as good if not better then Gotham Garage.
Shawn should dive right in on his You Tube and gain more subscribers and views. Maybe thats why the content isnt flowing. Hes obviously doing GG but i know if this channel had 5million viewers and subscribers then i know we would be seeing a lot more content
Better than Gotham Garage because Shawn is not being worked like a peon and hell driven by bloodsuckers who want to work you 18 hours a day like the Crab Catcher show owners on other videos who work their workers till they kill themselves in accidents due to fatigue and careless supervision and Crab boats that are not safe!.
@@StevenGardner. If he keeps going it'll have them
This car turned out awesome, and the side pipes made it perfect. Wonderful job Shawn.
Thats the right Mood here....,
right before CHristmas...
yeeh, Thanks
😀😅😇
This here is awesome. It's exactly what I hope to eventually own one day. Great work.
Excellent! More please!!
Shawn! Thanks for coming back dude!
bro i didnt know you got youtube , i alway watched you in gotham garage
You did a great job.I had a '72 as my first Vette. I also had an '05 and currently have a 2013 GS Z16 Coupe 60th Anniversary
Was thinking about you the other day.
Shawn I absolutely love what you did with the ‘71! Especially the paint. You truly have a great passion for corvettes and the talent to bring your dreams to reality! Love what you do!
Do you want your $3500.00 back ?😉
Awesome video, thanks for sharing 👍👍
A few months ago I looked up your channel to see if you released anything.
I’m glad to see your back at em’
It's about frigg'en time
Never seen anyone bring some old buried paint back to life like that. Thanks for showing us how! Now I’m not afraid to take a razor to my 1980 Corvette one day either. Merry Christmas Shawn!
No earbud or microwave meal sponsors 😂🎉
I’m so glad I discovered this channel. Just great vibes.
He back let’s gooo
I love orange on a car. Great job bringing out the old paint and show casing it again. Great job on getting this car back to being a beautiful driver.
Oh Ya! Quite the ride!!!
How does he do that?
Oh boy! What a restoration. I thought keeping that old color is not a good idea but boy that clear coat did the magic and final product is suberb❤. Also loved the way you walked us through the complete restoration along with some great editing skills. Great work brother ❤️
The car is sick Shawn...I was born in 70 so I can appreciate it! I'm eventually gonna get one.....I hope!! Love the video's brother!!
Color job is absolutely perfect and what the car needed. Good job sir!!
Fantastic work from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 my old man was a body man as well I miss the smell of the shop 😊
Excellent show Shawn, I am impressed that you did all the work yourself.
Shawn, at first I thought you were crazy to not paint it and make it look new. After the work you put into it, I much prefer the paint your way. Very nice work!
Im glad that i came across this channel, amazing craftsman work, attention to details, big respect boss!
