Hi Christina, thanks for this video! I've never cooked buckwheat before, but I have made quinoa, which seems to be similar in preparation. I like how you complimented the buckwheat with the veggies. Great stuff!
I ate buckwheat for the first time in a Russian restaurant. It makes a fine substitute for rice because the texture is very similar. And, as you said, low in sugars.
I bought buckwheat a long time ago because I am gluten free but I had no idea how to prepare it. So, this is a great video. And it's nice to see you back on TH-cam after a break.
Thanks for the video! My mother made buckwheat regularly when I was growing up and gives me giant bags of buckwheat every few months. I cook twice a week for breakfast, sometimes sweet with oat milk, with berries, sliced almonds, and hemp seeds, and sometimes savory with olive oil, vegetables and tofu.
Am a Nigerian living in Poland I brought Buckwheat thinking it was like the ones an used to back home. After cooking it I realized it was different. But your video has helped to appreciate it the more....
I have not tried as I am not very talented in the kitchen but it is an amazing source of fiber so thanks for putting this video out there, will give it a try!
Great video. Wasn't aware buckwheat is classified as a seed. Some great and delicious-looking ideas. Like the health aspect you've included i.e. blood sugar, diabetes etc. Never cooked buckwheat before.
Buckwheat's delicious so long as it's roasted and this recipe sounds really good, but for some of us, getting hold of buckwheat is more difficult and quite costly. Where it's a staple food and widely grown it quite naturally becomes a staple food, but not so much here I think.
It’s name is weird being that it’s a seed. I can remember the water/seed ratio. 1 cup of and 2 cups of water...similar to when cooking rice. 👍🏼 I want to try this one day. It looks tasty + adding the vegetables...✨
I have tried to make buckwheat several times now.........I don't get it. I tried without the vegies and with the vagies.......as you are showing After I put in the water and cover it for about 5 Minutes it looks great - fluffy. I cover it and go back later (maybe 10 minutes) And it it mush...... The grains are interspersed with this clear filmy type of gluie stuff.......After it cools - it isn't as bad but it is still mush.......I have tries it now about 3 times and no matter whose recipe I try it is the same....
Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like either the heat is set at too high or you leave it to cook for too long. Give my recipe a go if you have the ingredients. It will work :)
I mix this with my oatmeal, banana nut butter granola which have (organic hemp, chia and coconut flakes) sugar and chopped dates. Doesn’t look appealing at all but that’s over 100 gram of carbs I use for 🚴🏽 ride
I love Buckwheat, but I am apprehensive about it containing Glyphosate. Roundup's active ingredient and carcinogenic to humans. How and where is yours grown and do you think it safe for your family to eat?
my mom is a sephardic turkish jew my late dad family were all polish jews and i grew up eating buckwheat frpm my dads side in a dish calle kasha varnishkas my mom taught me how to prepare all the turkish foods
why everybody feels the need to ...show themselves on you tube? Another nothing video, you rinse the buckwheat and the boil for a few minutes on a 1 buckwheat 2, 1/2 water ratio. You're welcome!

Nice recipe but why would you recommend a meal high in carbohydrates to a person who has Type 2 diabetes?
Buckwheat does have a low glycemic index
Yes I have it like this ingredient
So happy to hear!
Wow, this looked so delicious! Especially that yogurt at the end! 🙌🏻
But I don’t think I’ve ever eaten buckwheat.
Is it similar to quinoa at all?
It is becoming more and more popular because of its benefits. So I am sure you will end up giving this a go :)
Perfect. We are a gluten free family 👍
Then this is perfect!
I’m never had buckwheat but I’m sure I’d find a way to screw it up. It’s worth a shot though 😅
