Actually that section is for meats and to keep stuff colder for longer and fridges are designed so much different nowadays they have sides to prevent dripping of meats you can pop a tray in there for easy clean up if anything leaks , so your instincts are correct

For future moves buy zip up mattress protectors they are inexpensive and can be thrown in the wash it’s like a duvet cover for your mattress

Love the new place! Have you considered bar stools for your kitchen counter over a table and chairs?
Thank you! ☺️ we were thinking about that but the island doesn’t have space for legs to tuck under, it isn’t suitable for bar stools unfortunately. A small table and chairs will do us perfectly ☺️

Thank you 🥰 I’m not from the UK so I’m not sure, I’m from a rural town in Ireland so it’s definitely a wayyy more expensive here!
I was puzzled about your comment that the big fan was using such a lot of electricity. What type of fan was it? Unless it was one of those portable air conditioners, it shouldn’t have used much electricity at all. Ceiling fans and floor fans really don’t use much electricity at all compared to air conditioning or heating. Perhaps something else was happening with electricity at that apartment?
It was a large portable air conditioning machine we that required ice. It used so much of the electricity we were shocked! 😅
@@nicolaboyle_ Have you tried sleeping with just a regular pedestal fan pointed at the bed while you sleep? Uses barely any electricity. We live in Sydney and find that works fine for us.

Not in particular to be honest, it just depends where you want to locate, budget, space etc.
Get a standing air conditioner!! Able to move it from room to room
If you remove their tv pop it in a cupboard or you will definitely be charged for that
