Hi, I am your host Siddhartha! I have been an entrepreneur from 2012-2017 building two products AddoDoc and Babygogo. After selling my company to SHEROES, I and my partner Nansi decided to start up again. But we felt unequipped in our skillset in 2018 to build a large company. We had known 0-1 journey from our startups but lacked the experience of building 1-10 journeys.
Hence was born The Neon Show (Earlier 100x Entrepreneur) to learn from founders and investors, the mindset to scale yourself and your company. This quest still keeps us excited even after 5 years and doing 200+ episodes.
We welcome you to our journey to understand what goes behind building a super successful company. Every episode is done with a very selfish motive, that I and Nansi should come out as a better entrepreneur and professional after absorbing the learnings.

Superb !! What an enlightened person Dr Sanjiv Sanyal is . Poverty aspiration it is a harsh reality what mr Sanyal has brought out . This podcast needs to be shown to more and more young lot . An eye opener !! We all are stuck in a situation where in we suffer from poverty inspiration !! UPSC is waste of time it is a fact youngster must carefully analyse this it is self explanatory. If you are talented and hardworking don’t join government jobs unless and until you are very very poor and no other opportunities available

200% agreed with Sanjiv Sanyal. He spoke my mind. By Elon Musk or Ambani, he did not mean that everyone must aim to be a businessman. He rather meant to aim for something out of the box, like Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam or Dr. CNR Rao or Sachin Tendulkar. Why get trapped into mediocre ambitions like becoming a babu and forwarding files, just because relatives in UP and Bihar value it. AIM FOR BIG.

If it isn't your ambition then it doesn't mean it's mediocre. The question should be asked to him as an economic advisor yo government how many opportunities, the government has created in state of Bihar, so the youth can capitalize on their skills. Has the state given the youth enough opportunities of education and employment? Probably civil services is the best way to show they capabilities. Aspiring for services is not only an aspirational phenomenon of youth but it's a failure of state to optimize their productivity.

And I have some issues with Bengal bjp too, although I support them and am gonna vote for them. They're focusing too much on the hindu-muslim issue (it is an issue, but not the most important one). After watching this interview, I can truly appreciate how and why Modi is doing what he is doing. Definitely, there is change in mindset…we are more confident, bold and aspirational and ever before. I wonder if we had this kind of government and mindset since 1947, imagine where we would have been. There is a lot of reading and understanding to be done on how India’s journey has been and how our minds were hijacked and manipulated, else history will repeat itself in an ugly way.

We as a country at this point are no more different than a mediocre individual making pennies but showing off as elite! So what if the perception has changed? Did the reality change at all? NO. But my concern is how many middle class youth will be able to find a better alternative in our socio political and economic scenario. What is the percentage of financial help extended by our financial institutions to commence a business. Do we have a level playing field here. We need authentic data to corroborate the possibility of finding a better alternatives. Merely criticising the aspiring youth isn't the solution to a problem.

    With Due Respect Sir,
Firstly I agree with the few points that you have mentioned.
"Poverty of Aspirations "- Very ingenious term
Instead of glorifying what modi govt has done, just need to focus on
What are leading to Poverty of Aspirations !!! ?.
There are many issues that need to be sorted first
    CORRUPTION
    TRANSPARENCY
    ACCOUNTABILITY
    RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE
    AND MANY MORE
Once we sorted our main issues "people don't settle for less." Else it would become a Vicious Cycle.
    Secondly, WEST's problem
I agreed most of the points that some reports were misleading and wrongly manifested. And some organizations/states are not happy with India's growth.
But few of them are very genuine.
    Thirdly, India's Rapid growth
Not one political party have had whole credits even PM spoke about it.
From Independence to till date, the policies which were implemented had good results as well as bad results.
We can say the previous government had created a ground for India's take off, it's a process not just one event.
From the Green revolution, LPG reforms and critical political decisions And so on
    Lastly, UPSC- Fav Topic
Yeah it's true "Many chasing a few seats", since the demographic dividend is more.
Say approx 100 Seats:1L Candidates, UPSC need to have some reforms especially conducting the exam twice a year.
What led to this much craze bro?
    1. To Come out of that poverty aspirations- everyone dreamed getting into service.
As you mentioned, More Competition than in any other field.
    2. Due to State PCS irregularities and Corruption, Not a single state government releases the notifications regularly and nor they conduct in a fair manner. Ironically, In India Paper leaks more efficiently and effectively than ground water into the soil. Everyone starts preparing for UPSC
    3. And with the advent of ICT, A few more folks are added.
It's good to prepare while doing a job (I Realized Lately)
So Before taking anything into our mind please think twice about what is Right or wrong. Let's build together Greater INDIA ❤

    • @harshvardhanagrawal2225
      @harshvardhanagrawal2225 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Bro that's the point this man is talking about, once you want a government who brings transperency, no corruption and other such essentials then only such governments will come in power, only when you start wanting a government who believes in developing infrastructure then only that will happen, only when you start wanting a society valueing entrepreneurs you will generate employment ( I hate the idea of it being directly government's job to produce employment).
About the previous government's job of laying groundwork I would like to say, they were really efficient only when it was a life or death situation. Green revolution arrived because India was at the brink of mass starvation ( only 2 weeks reserves were left). 1991 economics reforms were introduced because India was at the brink of bankrupsy ( around a weeks reserves left) So saying they did put in the groundwork is an overstatement, they only did what they did so that they can continue filling their pockets.
I don't want to come accross as this government is completely exceptional. You will find a lot of properties bought by relatives of current executives in the government which is simply impossible without curroption, but they did invest in infrastructure and made doing business fairly easier than before ( still miles left)

Reasons for downfall of Kolkata :
    1. Partition of Bengal in 1947.
Partition distanced two third of Bengal from Calcutta immediately lessening the importance of the city.
    2. Rise of the Communists: Though B.C. Roy the CM of Bengal did quite a lot for development of the truncated part of Bengal, Communists kept gaining in strength capitalising the pains of partition. And rise of the Communists was associated with declining work culture in the state, leading to a decline in industrial relations. After B.C. Roy, freefall of Bengal took place. So did Kolkata.

For having 1/6th billionaire we should also have 1/6th of global GDP not just 1/6th population. Literally in PPP terms Ambani and Adani are richer then Bezos and musk without building any globally known/exported brand or products unlike bezos and musk. Most of their business are where government intervention or contracts are needed which clearly shows the crony nature of their wealth.

      Kuch bhi logic laga de.
India's population is almost four times that of the US so, what is this import/export argument? India had four unicorns in 2014 and now it's over 100. Tu bhi bana le ek startup/unicorn and ban ja millionaire or billionaire. I hope you will create something like "Jio" that revolutionizes the digital landscape of India.
And if you know that Adani and Ambani get a contract delivered from government offices then go to court and get it cancelled.
P.S. India needs more Adani and Ambani because they not only creating infrastructures in India but now pushing out of India too in a way expanding India's sphere of influence.

@@ChadErenYeager9392 Pappu ke 14, didn't you read the whole message? I'm not opposed to anyone becoming millionaire and billionaire.
US has four percent of the total global population so, by his logic the US share should be four percent of the total global economy, 4 percent of the total millionaires, billionaires, etc., What kind of argument is that?
As exporting Indian technologies goes to the world, it's not going to be easy. It can seen in the case of China (the likes of TikTok, Huawei, etc.) but eventually, it will happen in a few decades. Is it going to be easy? No, it will not.
He talks about government intervention and contracts. Do you want entities like Air India(in government control) again? The government used to spend 20-25cr. daily to keep the airline afloat.
I'm scratching my head to make sense of these arguments but after my reply, I saw that this person watches Ravish Kumar and after that, all of his arguments started to make sense.

Influencers can be a better profession if they use it in a positive way. I think we shouldn’t see any profession as less. That’s the basic reason why there’s no dignity of labour in India. In western countries, a carpenter or a plumber gets the same respect an engineer gets. There should be no better or worse profession. It should be based on the interests of the individual, even industrialists or scientists can do negative things. It’s not jobs but attitudes of people in that jobs that should looked for

Here's an interesting question i think many would love to indulge in:
    Q. What if the the Indian Rupee (₹) (hypothetically) appreciate (rises) into the single digits, against the USD($).
I have personally tried alot to find the answer to this, but there is interestingly very little research into this, that I could find.
Some are hypothesising this as a prospective future for india, and Sanjeev ji has talked about it being harmful for our exports on twitter, in response to those.
But what you could do, is explore it more.
This is huge thing either way, good or bad, or both and nuanced.
I say this, because, while the exports will shift to more luxury stuff, our imports (which includes oil) would become cheap by a factor of 5-10 which HUGE, therefore possibly making things mad cheap, and thereby (possibly) boosting the purchasing power of any holder to by several times.
This could be an interesting question i think, and being a economicst and historian, i think he could give alot of interesting views on this.

the exchange rate is a symptom of balance in economies of the world, not the other way around i.e. economies will balance out because of the exchange rate.
if Indian rupee strengthens because the world becomes weak it will not be beneficial for India. If Indian rupee strengthens because the Indian economy performs well then obviously it will benefit India.
An unrestricted system will always move towards equilibrium, when overall world becomes volatile then India will be affected negatively too, and vice versa.
Another possibility is moving towards protectionism(a restricted world), it will be a net opportunity loss. Counties who are free and have better access to means will be better off.

    • @arhammusheer
      @arhammusheer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Exchange rates have no real meaning except converting between systems of measurement. Same as converting kilometer to miles, rupee and dollars are just ways to measure the economies of each country.
1 INR is 1.83 YEN still Japan is a larger economy due to their higher output.
Amul butter in india is 400 rupee for half kilo
Similar quantity of butter at Wholefoods or walmart is 5-7 dollar which is slightly higher but only because supply chains are more expensive in the US. This has nothing to do with dollar exchange rates.
Also China intentionally undervalues the Yuan to keep the manufacturing contract negotiations stable and also keep manufacturing cheap and competitive.
If inflation in India is identical to USA and the economic growth is higher, INR will automatically start to grow higher. (Given no external factors)
All these are just examples to justify that exchange rate has no real meaning except measurement of economies and their systems.

If India produces luxury stuff , that is very less elastic and whole world wants it , then rupee will appreciate. And this won't even hurt us, because we will be able to consume more items without losing on our exports. Whereas if we artificially appreciate rupee (in current scenario), then our trade deficit will increase sharply which will deplete our forex reserves and to artificially appreciate rupee we have to decrease supply of rupee in the market, which will lead to deflation and thus lower economic growth.
