The "bag thief" is obviously either drunk, has mental health issues or dementia. He looks so confused and his apologies appear sincere. To assume he's not a Royal Marine is a bit harsh after meeting him for the first time. He may have been one in the past and is suffering from PTSD.
He said he was in Iraq, Afghanistan.. Very tragic all the TBI and mental health issues that came out of those deployments .

Having had a parent with dementia I recognised the expression on his face. People with dementia do things like this without realising, they also regress in to thinking they are their younger self. He may genuinely have been sorry when he was saying it. You can clearly see the confusion in his face and tbh when he was singing, you can tell their is something wrong with him.
He wasnt trying to steal your things, Brendan- he has a mental issue. Give it a break!

I get it. You don't like being stolen from. Kind of reminds me of a guy I once knew who grew up a single child , pampered for the most part and carefully guided through his adolescent years, living in a bubble of sorts, only to miss out on the basic skills it takes to understand the real world and its complexities. I believe that man was truly sorry. His actions were dead wrong but ...forgiveness and understanding are the way to rise above his shortcomings in life. Your inability to do this reflects a bad light towards you. People are very observant. Take time to reflect and view the world through others eyes. Sympathize with those who have not the privileged life but life riddled with desperate survival needs. We love your show. We will keep watching.... for now. Take a good hard look in the mirror.

I think maybe this guy has some problems mentally rather than just being your common thief, he looked quite confused when confronted. Most thiefs would have grabbed and run. Not condoning what he did, but there may be more to this guy than meets the eye, he looks like he might have some mental issues.

The bald guy isn't all there, you could see it in his face and actions. He could have easily walked away with Brendan's bag. He had had plenty of time before Brendan noticed his bag was gone. So I don't think his intention was to steal. He genuinely thought it was his. He needs help not derision.

Guy seems lost and disoriented. Seems like he genuinely wanted to join in but been out on the lash. Probably left his bag in the pub lol. I'd put the chair leg over the bag handle when playing to prevent quick theft.

That's entirely possible. I had a friend that happened to. He would start to see pieces of his own furniture in the street. That's just the way his brain would interpret things that he saw. He had both a pulmonary disorder and dementia. He was a very clever man, has books to his name and was in the middle of writing another loosely based on his life's experiences. He had been in the navy in submarines - luckily getting away with his life when there was an explosion whilst they were in dock - a company director and a theatre director and a bookseller and book search as well as a writer. It was tragic to see him go down hill like that.

I once saw a much smarter but similar looking fella take a briefcase from the side of someone having a slash in the loo at St Pancras. He spotted him and went after him, only for the bloke to say sorry he thought it had been left and was taking it to hand in to the police. Obviously lying but so crafty. If the guy had been mid flow so to speak, he would never have caught him it was so busy and even then had an excuse ready for his escape.
