I know this sounds like clickbait (and I'm sure some people will comment that) but I'm genuinely serious. Realizing this after PTS made a massive difference for how I play Gilga and how well I perform with him.
I've actually been having a ton of fun playing GIlgamesh as a support. The lifesteal from his 3 goes up extremely high and can help your teammates turn a fight around very quickly. In a legitimate support build with Sentinel's Embrace, I've had it give about 50% extra lifesteal, then tested to check if it gave the same amount of physical and magical lifesteal, which it does. That paired with the movement speed can make your high damage carries turn a fight around very quickly. You can start with Benevolence then choose between Animosity or Compassion depending on the game, or go a more traditional route with Sentinel's Gift. An item to look out for when being support is Frostbound Hammer. Gilgamesh already uses slows very well, and if you can force Beads or Heavenly Agility just from your 1 and Frostbound, his ult suddenly becomes even stronger. A combo I've also been enjoying is using his ult to scatter enemies or force the shorter distance escapes, then jumping in front of my target to dropkick them back into the ult. I think he's an amazing character to play with a ton of potential. His flexibility allows for very interesting and diverse builds.
Actually very helpful at the end. It wasn't clear that the abilities can juggle enemies in the Ult and not just basic attacks. It will actually change what I will try the next time I would be able to try him out. I play mostly Arena so I don't expect to be able to try him until next week when people stop instant locking him immediately.

Yeah, I actually found Frostbound to be pretty good on him as well. Some people think it's counterintuitive because he already has so many slows, but since item and ability slows stack, it's some very solid setup and the health increases his dmg too!
That was super helpful you did recommend different builds and even starters other then animosity which is why I like your video's duke you really work hard figuring out the god's and their kits and how to build them correctly thanks Duke
Hes a blast! Literally any build works for him (tho some better than others) and despite his numbers his cc makes him more formidable than you would initially think. Hes also more disorienting than most warriors to fight against especially when he surprises the enemy with a double stun on his kick

Hmm that's odd. I know that volume can vary a bit between devices, but as Captain Eat said, my overall volume is relatively high. Not sure what I can do to help here :/
if you go JUNG: max 1 and 4 if you go SOLO: max 2 and 1 if you go SUPP: max 2 and 4 you could actually max 1 and 3 in jungle, the extra mov speed and combo with 3-1 would be cool. Remember that the 3 GIVES MOV SPEED to your allies... that in a gank is cool.
Nah solo max 1 first, his 2 wont be able to clear as fast and you'll need ur 1 for more slow after kicking them with ur 2 into a wall, his 2 is used to engage and stun enemies, for solo ur 1 will be ur slow and damage and does way more damage than ur 2 since u can spam ur 1.
@@BunnyOnASnuman gilgamesh supp is pretty good, you can bully and get an easy first blood if ur carry follows up. Downside ur not as tanky and have no sustain which means your either bullying or getting bullied. I say go tank sentinels first, protection or boots then health and multi pots for sustaining in a middle of a fight popping them together gives u 15 hps per second and gives u mana since gilgamesh uses a lot of mana.
ok, i'm going to share MY personal experience and what i learned from playing gilgamesh, first of all gilgamesh has a lot of engage options and possibilities, but i found out he is much more reliabe as a sort of reactive character than an active character. "Why?", you ask me. He doesn't have that much damage that people are crying about, and being honest, his passive is good, but does not carry to the late game, since he is focused on getting the power spike earlier than the adversary team. Besides that, he is easyly countered by witch blade, sprint and beads. He has more success in countering dives and engages because of his 2, that is much easier to hit after the other team used their cc to engage and not to stop you from engaging. Of course he has a lot of slow and is created to isolate single targets (this is why he ends up winning most of the 1v1s). I tend to go more of the "shields" build, both getting dmg, life and good defences, not that much atk speed, but hits like a truck in every basic attack. Max out the 1 first, it's more reliabe CC and damage than the drop kick, since we are counter engaging the enemy team. Besides that, baiting escapes is the basic for chases. I rest my case with the fact that if you counter engage, the enemy team uses escapes, but you haven't wasted your 3 for engaging, leaving you the option to 1.Chase 2. Retreat 3.Kill enemies running from you. The ult is more situational and team disrupting than an obligatory kill confirmation, so do not be afraid to ult to escape or ult on the enemy team to prevent them from saving an ally and starting a team fight. Try playing him more reactive than active and i think you'll have even better results. Bluestone pendant helps a lot in early too (like you said), if you're going jungle, i advise manikin scepter (boomba is good but lacks the atk speed reduction and the burning damage). AND Unpopular opinion, i don't think gilgamesh needs a nerf in his damage or slows, for it's the only thing that keeps him good, but, the smite community needs to learn how to play different gods than those that are "in the meta", and need to learn how to counter effectively other gods. in all my gilgamesh games i never saw someonse using sprint, or witch blade nor beads, eventhough the entire gilgamesh kit relies on slows and the stun in the dropkick.
For a good build that hasn't failed me, bluestone, warrior tabi, soul eater, shifters, frostbound/large physical prot item if you're dying a lot. Personal preference for upgraded bluestone
Think the large prot item I usually get is breatplate of valour. Teleport glyph, bluestone, health chalice and 3 multi pots. Stay out as long as possible after full boots. Send any changes you would make but this works wonders for me
The best build ive found is any with frostbound, animosity, and stone cutting. My favorite is a dumb build, Ninja Tabi, qin sais, frostbound, stone cutting, animosity, ody bow. Sounds weird but alot of fun, at least not in conquest

His dropkick honestly needs half the stun duration, or if it's gonna have a 1.5 second stun reduce the damage massively. Because from my experience being on the receiving end and seeing people get shat on, unless you have a good amount of defenses once you get dropkicked you're dead. From the jump to the kick you have such a small amount of time to react to that shit.
IMO, every ability for every god (except for maybe janus portal) should be on instant cast. Once you play enough of a god, at least, because eventually you will know the radius and range of your abilities without having to see the targeter. At that point, it'll just cause you to hesitate and waste time aiming when you would have a higher chance of hitting if you casted it instantly and just used your reticle.
Disagree. In abilities where landing the very edge the ability matters (such as Gilga ult), it can make a massive difference. I doubt people have 100% perfect muscle memory for all abilities. I use a lot of things on instant cast, but especially as support, certain relics feel bad on instant cast. Nothing worse than barely missing an ally with shell/sprint.
I'd like to start instant casting but I'm scared. Diamond herc and I want to make sure I hit the edge of my 2. Diamond kuku and I want to make sure my whirlwind hits melee minions AND archers. Any tips for beginning instant cast? I do have a decent Arthur so it's not like totally foreign to me.
Hi duke, do you think they’re bloating new characters too much? Some friends and I were talking about Gilgamesh and Tiamat and their abilities and comparing them to stuff like Vamana 2 and Hun Batz 2. It really feels like they’re trying to push these characters out of the game almost. For example, everything Gilgamesh does has multiple benefits whereas Hun Batz slams his banana staff and does some damage, and that’s literally it.
I feel like Gilgamesh has been one of the more simpler characters to come out with just a bit more detailed descriptions and interactions with his kit. The two examples you gave are very early characters and will always feel a bit dated after some point. If the numbers are competitive though, they will always still hang. He Bo is one of the most simple mages and his damage can be insane still lol
You didn't cover any item builds for assault. Watched a gilgamesh with the 40ias bow and war flag crush a team ftw. Gilga had 40k dmg when no one else was over 15k.
Its good on any tank. Bluestone can give you a little more utility. He doesn't really need the damage. Animosity of course is cheese that people like (obvious synergy).
Been seeing a lot of annoying Gilgamesh players that spam the drop kick in matches that lead to easy kills getting away and ults missing. When I ask them to stop spamming the ability willy nilly I sometimes get responses along the line of chill, trying to learn the god or no response and a continuation of spamming drop kicks. Even though it's obvious unless your new to the game or whatever but one tip would be strategically using drop kicks to help a team and not the enemy.
I do feel you but he did just come out. People gotta learn lol and sometimes I'm definitely aiming for a wall stun that just barely misses and then what you described happens lol
@@ZappyZ21 Well trying to properly use the dropkick is one thing, using the ability simply cause it's off cool down without a purpose is another. The people I saw using it were not even aiming at the wall, they were just going unga bunga on their keyboard and hoping for the best.
Problem I find is that I play on console and you end up missing alot when you instant cast with console controls. You just cant get the immediate accuracy you do with pc
I got a guide aswell,it's called not pick him gilgamesh has to be the worst warrior to date. He can get stomped by every other warrior with ease even the trashy ones yeah his abilities do ok damage but thats it nothing else his kit is underwhelming.

Also the aoe from his 1 and his jump inside the ult helps to keep them inside if your only goal is cc and they are getting away, its super useful.
I actually really like corrupted bluestone on him late game, you just go INSANE after the attack cancel with the 1.
Or just pop your ult into the enemy team for up to 75% attack speed haha

As solo you can do the 3 behind the other solo or if they close enough you can easily kick them in tower and a good 9/10 is a easy first blood or kill

Really any god that has a cc immune can counter him. Its just timing your ability to counter either the ult or kick.

Nah, Batz's kit has always been more simple than most. It's to offset his insane ult.

I've found him to work pretty good with Spartan's Flag, but that's just me.
I almost always go Animosity and I get yelled at by my teamamtes for not going BS, but late game Animosity is so much better.

The god unplugs your input device while near him. Beads is nice to use before you get kick. Try to flame your teammate will he leaps and ults you.
