    en.wikipedia.o...)
Nebulus is a platform game created by John M. Phillips and published by Hewson Consultants in the late 1980s for home computer systems. International releases and ports were known by various other names: Castelian, Kyorochan Land (キョロちゃんランド, Kyorochan Rando), Subline, and Tower Toppler.
The game's original 8-bit release received some critical acclaim, in particular the Commodore 64 release, which garnered a Gold Medal award from UK magazine Zzap!64.
Nebulus was followed by the lesser-known Nebulus 2 for the Amiga in the 1990s
    Gameplay
Nebulus is a platform game. The player character, a green creature called Pogo, is on a mission to destroy eight towers that have been built in the sea by planting bombs at the towers' peaks.
The actual gameplay happens at each tower in turn. Pogo starts from the bottom and finds the way to the top. The towers are cylinder-shaped and have ledges on their outside, either horizontal, forming stairs or connected by elevators. The most notable feature of the game is that when Pogo walks left or right the tower behind him turns clockwise or counterclockwise with a convincing sense of depth. This was noted favourably in reviews of the game.
During the ascent, Pogo encounters many different enemies, mostly shaped like basic geometric shapes. Pogo can shoot some of the enemies, while some are impervious to shooting. Contact with an enemy knocks Pogo down to the ledge below. If there is no ledge below, Pogo falls into the sea and drowns.
At the top of the tower, Pogo enters a door to trigger the tower's destruction mechanism. Pogo then boards his submarine and enters a bonus stage (in some versions, but not for example in the ZX Spectrum version), where he can shoot various kinds of fish to score bonus points.

Wow, the comparison starts right off with a "winner" 🤣
The C64 Port (11:13) is a thing of beauty !
    Stellar graphics & sounds !
The Archimedes version (43:24) positively surprised me.
    Thanks for the video !!

After I saw the C64 version I started thinking how awesome some other ports of classic games for C64 would have looked if done as good as possible. It is sad that often the ports for various consoles and computers were made as fast and cheap as possible.

@@Pehmokettu There was a group of folks that made a Super Mario Bros game for the C64 a few years back to match the NES as close as possible... and they succeeded. If you haven't seen it, look it up on TH-cam. It's freaking amazing what people are doing with the C64 these days.

Very impressive indeed...seemed to have more animation and 3d-like effect somehow, even if that was not the case and was rather an optical trick

had no idea it was ported on so many systems.
anyway, commodore Amiga version, the clear winner!
also, it's the version I played as a kid so there for it wins on that note.

Great video! The best about this game.
    My ranking of the versions:
    1. Commodore 64
    2. Acorn Archimedes
    3. Amiga
    4. Atari ST
    5. NES
    6. Windows
    7. Flash
    8. MS-DOS
    9. Atari 7800
    10. Amstrad
    11. ZX Spectrum
    12. Atari 800 XE
    13. Gameboy
Let's get something straight: Nebulus, Tower Toppler, and Castelian are the same games with different titles.
The game _Kyoro-chan_ _Land_ is also good, since it is *almost* the same. However, it cannot be compared to the original, because the change of the main character is too big a difference for me to ignore.
Replace Darth Vader with Iron Man! He is also a great character, but the movie will never be the same again.
The Android and Palm versions are just terrible, I don't see them as games to appreciate. Sorry Androids and Palms :)

If you're objective you'll have to admit the Atari 7800 understood the assignment. Great colors and parallax scrolling, especially in the bonus stages.

A big pro for the Amstrad version is that you get to keep the music during gameplay, and I know it really helped me keep going when I played it back in the days. It's a shame you don't get to experience that with the other versions.

Fun and challenging game. Some ports though are a bit too challenging with a lot of cheap deaths.

Ouch the Atari 8-bit version is horrible given the capabilities of the machine.

The way the tower rotates on C64 is definitely smoother and way more 3Dmensionally convincing than it is in the Amiga version where there's barely a sense of circularity of the wall, which looks oddly almost flat.
Archimedes rotation works better as well.

When are you going to do another premier, mate? This was fun (this is @TheN0odles). BTW, that console I was chatting about was a "CreatiVision". Cheers.
EDIT: NM, I'm being an idiot. Your premier is premiering soon lol. See you there!
