As a kid I would have killed to be able to reach an arcade on foot or bicycle from home or school... Maybe just once a month I could get a ride to the nearest mall to go to the arcade... Now living in Japan it's hard not to stumble upon any number of arcades including retro ones with these games, and I admit I go more than monthly!
@@80sClassicArcade That one isn't bad, but the big glitzy ones are kind of the same as everywhere in Japan. You need to hit the small gritty ones in the side alleys run by crusty old guys who have been there for decades 😂
Those sound like the good ones! Even here in the USA, back in the 80s, even the small little shops had great titles that you would see in the larger arcades.
Indeed, those were the days! I used to get a slice a pizza and a drink and have .25 left for a game. Hardest choice was what should I play? Ms Pac, Centipede, Popeye, DK Jr., Mario Bros.,. Challenge was if I wanted to play Dragon's Lair it's .50
We had it great. The music the movies. Most of all the games. A lot of great memories. I used to stop by 7-11 on the way home from school. Have about 2 bucks. Get a big gulp or a slurpee and use what I had left to play games. Man those were great times. We’d play basketball at day time or ride bikes and video games at night. All night.
My best friend in elementary school and I walked down to the local bar after school and played Shinobi for hours on end. The cops were called a couple of times because our parents didn't know where we were. Then, in the early 90s, my high school got a Shinobi cabinet. Needless to say, the older kids got first crack and I learned by watching them until eventually, I was able to beat it. One of the older kids I learned from actually went on to win an Oscar several years ago, for behind the scene work. He's not an actor.
Elevator Action, Shinobi, Gyruss were among my favorites. Super Thunder Blade for a flying game. But. One of the games I had the most fun with on Saturday mornings at a place called Herbs Arcade was Tecmo Bowl arcade game. So much fun.
Red Clash, Cosmic Alien, Fire Fox on Laser Disc,Mad Alien, Super Cobra, Scramble, Space Dual ,Asteroids in all its versions, Super Bug , Red Baron ,Sheriff. There was also a driving game in 1980 in Australia that was the precursor to TURBO that I played .Also a futuristic Motor cycle game in 1985 that I can't remember the name of but it resembled wipe out I think. Also Speed Race but that was mid 70's on a green monitor/ screen.
I was about 30/35 and had (wasted) multiple quarters playing some game where you shoot at stuff dropping bombs at you. Some kid (a kid, a real kid) beat some game and it was playing some ending tune and I asked him.... how did you do that. Seriously, he said.... your too old to understand. I gave the last of my quarters to the kid and left. That is the sad truth.
Quite a few games I've never even heard of such as Satan's Hallow, Kangaroo and Front Line, but the classic stuff like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and the Galaxian types are familiar. Other ones that I remember from holidays in Spain are Kung-Fu Master, Track & Field and especially Pengo. The correct spelling is '80s or 80s BTW, not 80's.
Actually, I played Satan's Hallow after school at a local candy shop. At this place we always had a choice of 4 games. They used to rotate the selection based on the latest releases as well was whatever was the most money maker out there.
I definitely played arcades when I was younger, but it's rare that I find any 1980s ones like Ms. Pac Man or Galaga.

Wow, would love to someday be able to visit some of Japanese arcades. I did see a video once about Taito Station out in the Akihabara district.

I spent all my lunch money in 7 Eleven playing these games. Then go home battle friends on the Atari 2600. Man life was great back then.

Golden Axe, NARC, Operation Wolf, Shinobi were probably my favorite arcade games growing up.

Dragon's Lair, Tron and Star Wars were my jams..
I love the 80’s so glad I grew up in that time.
Dig Dug, Bubble Bobble, Spy Hunter & Time Pilot were my go to games.
But I was also good at Black Tiger, Rush 'N Attack, Missile Command & Mario Bros.

I remember annoying my family for quarters😂
Forgot Defender, Space Ace, Track and Field, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Gauntlet.
I could never win at Track and Field. Game was so hard for me as a kid.

Saved the best for last! #dug
I've never seen a Satan's Hallow cabinet anywhere even in all the arcades I've been too back then. Has any actually played on one and where?
Atari salonuna
Alright, who the HELL played Satan's Hallow after school? And also, Bubble Bobble would have only been played by kindergarteners or some shit.

@@80sClassicArcade Alright, that's weird, but at LEAST you have a reason to put Satan's Hallow in there.
