Hello how are you doing today
As a very little girl I watched my dad and brothers build on a bedroom to our home,and then in my teens I got to help with a familyroom addition that was finished just a few days before my high school graduation. Many years later my hubby and I had 18x20 room added on to our house. The rough work was done and we did all the inside stuff. We learned so much. Your right no reason to fear,make mistakes and learn from them. The lessons are priceless!
How can you be so wise Melissa? The words of wisdom you utter have to be from someone who has lived a thousand lives. I just love to watch your families videos, and thank you so much for sharing. I am 73 and currently remodelling a bathroom for my husband who has mobility issues. Yes, we have to put our fears aside, and just do it!

Thanks for allowing me into your lives----was married 53 yrs before my wife passed and I miss the private personal conversations----it warms my heart to see you two remind each other that you still love each other and always will. As older couples near the end of their life cycle, we fail to remember and remind each other why we got married. Grumpy comments and unhappy speech has no place in our lives, we are on this earth for such a short time before we will stand before Jesus and revisit our entire lives-----For those that are reading this----this couple and family have the utmost respect for each other and we could all take a lesson from them on how to treat each other. My Mom and Dad started building our home in 1946. Because it was right after the war there wasn’t any lumber or windows for many years. We moved in in 1952. My Dad also owned his own business and ran that full time. I remember many aspects of the build. We had four kids in our family when we started and by the time we moved n we had 5 kids. Two years later my baby sister was born. It was always exciting. We had a big garden too!!!!
Wow, the cement guys did a really good job. That was definitely a better choice to change the plan, that view will be lovely. Great times. You have really done such a great job, it is rocking along nicely. Your confidence is so cool to see. Love the vlog :)

When I was in high school I had the opportunity to take a class called building trades. Took the class 2 years in a row. I use that everyday, rather I’m at home or work. Best class ever.
I love watching your projects being completed. My husband built our 900 square feet lake house cabin. It’s so satisfying knowing you did it all yourself. He and I now are in the process of building a 650 square ft she shed/craft room/ storage shed. We are doing it all by ourselves. I can’t wait until it’s completed. I don’t ever want to do it again! Lol.

Hi There, I have to say here in the UK the cost of buying land is hard due to the lack of availability etc. I'm 61 years old now and have had and lost my dream home! It is such a pleasure to see how hard you have both worked in the beginning. And now it's all paying off for you both and your family. I don't have much to look forwards to nowadays since we live in rented accommodation! But watching your dreams come alive makes me very happy and for the time I watch you all wether it's on my mobile or my laptop I'm there with you just living the American dream!! I am a baby in the heat, this is the best way to cool down: have a big spray bottle set to mist, spray on all exposed skin (increased evaporation = great cooling)… but the secret, best place to spray yourself to cool down (besides your face)? Into your ears!!

I still remember the smell of the wood/sawdust in the home my Grandfather built for us. That was in 1959!!! Next time I am in my hometown, I plan on stopping by to see if my handprints are still in the driveway.

Looks great! Thinking of my 3bdrm 800sq ft home I owned this looks so big and spacious for a single person to live in they're truly blessed to have this space to start getting used to independence before leaving home. Great way to have them close yet transition into adulthood while learning. It's so great to see your kids learning life skills and not only sitting around but active and doing things with helping while they learn.
With each project in building comes new future adventures. I really can't wait when you start teaching your preserving foods and other adventures together. I think you are both amazing. Amazing parents.

We have a finished room above our 2 car garage that is 600 square feet plus a full bathroom and a walk in closet. Our teen son wanted to move in. We said yes, until he could keep it clean. He had to move downstairs and that was that.
It's all looking good. A luxurious 1000 sqft with beautiful forest views. Very clever to have laundry next to the entryway. It all flows together.
One of the assistant pastors from my church has accepted a job in Meridian, Idaho is moving this coming week. We're going to miss him and his family.. Hopefully I might go and visit soon. :)
