Awesome info, thanks! I was given as a gift 5 kg bee pollen, I heard they get bad easily. Flower pollen does not keep for very long as it tends to absorb moisture. Although companies have dried the pollen, it should be used as quickly as possible. My question is how would you storage this amount to be used in the longer run without getting bad? It would be such a waste..😔
It is my pleasure and thanks for your question. If the bee pollen you got is fresh, keep it in the freezer and put it back every time you use it. If it is properly dried you can keep it at room temperature away from direct sunlight and it should be ok. Let me know if I can be of further help. Cheers.
Hii man love from India 🇮🇳 It's great that you have provided a genuine information on bee pollen, I'm having 1 kg of bee pollen probably 6-8 months old but it stayed out at room temperature due to lockdown and it has some small MAGGOTS like insects in it, I don't know what to do. As my indian gene don't allow me to simply throw a kg of pollen out of my house just because it has some 5-10 maggots( they might have lost their way and came to wrong address... 😂), I'm confused what to do.
Hi Bhupendra, thanks a lot for your question and comments. My advice without haven´t seen the product would be to discard it, it could be contaminated in some way and so not good for your health.
I've been buying refrigerated bee pollen for years. Today I purchased some fresh pollen from a bee keeper and he was adamant that it should never be put in a freezer but only stores in the fruits compartment of a refrigerator. Maybe freezing kills some of the enzymes?
There is absolutely no problem freezing your fresh bee pollen. Since it is fresh, keeping it in the fridge for too long could cause some mould issues. So my recommendation would be to freeze it.
If you get a food saver and vacuum seal it you can keep it in the fridge instead of the freezer. I triple vacuum seal mine, and have had fresh bee pollen last in the fridge for 1 year.
Hi there, excellent question. It really depends on how much moisture it had to begin with. Now, the average weight loss is around 15% if it is done at a low temperature. If the temperature is too high it might loose more but might also destroy some nutrients in the process. Let me know if I can be of further help. Cheers.
Hi, yes it can be stored in honey. Honey is excellent to store a wide variety of things due to its low pH and anaerobic environment. So pollen can be mixed with it too. Cheers.
Thank you for the great information! So I just want to get this straight in my head -- fresh pollen should be in the freezer, while dehydrated pollen can sit out at room temperature? Also, are there any differences in benefits between fresh pollen and dehydrated pollen? Does fresh pollen contain or hold more nutrients than the dehydrated form?
Hey Danny, thanks so much for your feedback. You are absolutely right. Fresh bee pollen has to be kept on the freezer. Because it has a high moisture content it can mould really fast if kept at room temperature. Dehydration removes the water so mould can’t grow on it. As for the second question, if the bee pollen was dehydrated properly, low temperature long time it keeps the same nutrient content as fresh pollen. Check out our HummingBee Bee Pollen if you want a product you can rely on. Just visit our Amazon Store. Link is on the description. Also let me know if you have more questions. Happy to help. Cheers.
Hi there Paul. Not at all. The freezer acts as a dehydrator so it would actually remove moisture. So in the freezer will preserve better if it is fresh. Cheers.
@@Letstalkaboutbeeproducts would putting pollen in the fridge (bee pollen stored in a container bought online) be ok? i even put a desiccant with the pollen. i just want it to last longer than it would if it was put in room temperature. i'll finish eating up the pollen quickly hahhaa awhile ago i also bought pollen stored in a plastic bottle from a local farmer, but it turned sour after a while since i stored it at room temperature
Hi Paul, thanks for your question. Remember that it all depends on whether the pollen is fresh or dry. Fresh pollen is the bee pollen harvested and packed without any process. Dehydrated pollen has been removed from its moisture. You have to keep fresh bee pollen in the freezer so it does not spoil. Dried pollen can be kept at room temperature. If the pollen you bought and went sour was dried, it was probably not adequately dried. Our HummingBee pollen has been dehydrated for 16 hours at a very low temperature, so all the moisture is removed and the nutrients preserved. Let me know if I can be of further help. Cheers.
@@Letstalkaboutbeeproducts i see, so according to my label it says airdried at low temperature so it can be kept in room temperature? but keeping it in the fridge does preserve it longer than at room temperature right? i'm asking because my area has high humidity so idk if my pollen will last that long even if it was dehydrated
Hi Paul, It will keep better in the freezer even if it is dried. Just keep in mind that whether it is at room temperature or in the freezer, it has to be in an airtight container. Cheers.
That is awesome. If stored under the right conditions it can keep for a very long time. Although you should consume it more often for its health benefits and also it can become stale over time. Cheers.

Fantastic, and is it dehydrated already?
@@Letstalkaboutbeeproducts yes, dried. I think I’ll put a big amount in the freezer and let the remaining in the bucket to see how long it last
