Great video! I remember when we first hiked Hallett, and I felt like I had done something great..... What a feeling to be up there on the iconic mountain we always see when going into the heart of Rocky. Surprising how much snow still up there on the way to Flattop, too. Loved this! 💗

Nick, I swear, I swear I swear I swear, you hiked Hallett a day AFTER I did Flattop (which I chose as my challenge because of YOUR videos) while on my vacation which was my tallest summit to date and it took every ounce of mental and physical strength to get there so seeing every snow pile and gust of wind brings back ptsd memories, wanted to get Hallett but I know my limits were being reached already

Hey Nick! It’s Ryan from that Day. We did make it to the top of Taylor’s. It’s a fantastic trip. Great way to humble a person. They view was great but crossing the open expanse made ya feel small in a totally different way. 👍Thanks for the shout out.

Great hike, Nick! I did this in June, 2023 under nearly identical conditions - mud, snow, sun, wind, cold.
Summiting Flat Top was anticlimactic as the top is so broad one does not realize they’ve peaked were it not for the sign. Absolutely continue on to Hallett Peak as the distance is short, the ascent easy, and for the sense of accomplishment gained from bagging a peak.
    I really, really miss Colorado!

@pw2883 Those June hiking conditions can be hot or miss! But I agree the actual summit of Flattop is a little flat and anticlimactic, but it's the starting point for so many other epic peaks!

Love this hike, usually we wander over to look down the fern lake side, it has such nice views. Hiking early while the snow is solid is so much easier than by nine o’clock when it has enough sun on it to make it a slushy mess. Also most mornings you have diurnal winds, although if a front is moving through, that’s a whole other situation. Enjoyed this. Also adding there are some really friendly marmots on this hike. We had one that just hung out on the trail that we had to walk around.

Thanks for selecting this classic for a hike and hiking video. Do you take requests? May I suggest Pool of Jade for a future adventure in the same region/area? Been there once and I think you would enjoy it before the weather gets too-too winter-like. The pool itself is not grand (pretty though) but the backward looking views are tremendous and it is a fun little* bushwhacking adventure getting there above the crowds at Emerald. As a Kansan who visits the park about once a year, I watch about every RMNP video that you put out here with much joy. Thank you Nick for your time, energy, and effort that you put into creating these videos to share with us. It helps keep those of us who love this park connected to it when we cannot be there. For me, you're up there with Lisa Foster for helping to make RMNP accessible to everyone and helping people determine what adventures they'd like to have during their time in the park. That's about the highest praise I think I can give to someone in this regard. PEACE

@dustinstafford7096 Wow, thank you! To even be mentioned in the same paragraph as Lisa is a tremendous honor. She is an absolute legend. My mom and I did do Pool of Jade a few years ago (on my birthday I think), and when we finally got up there the pool was dried up! Lol. That was quite a hike to get up there and we went around some big rocks!

@brianfrancis5548 it's also fun to come up Otis from the east side. It's a little steep coming up from Lake Haiyaha but once you get up on the top it's pretty fun. Then it's easy to come down the Flattop trail. But I agree about the low wind! Makes it much more enjoyable uo there when the wind isn't knocking you over!

Fantastic video! You do such a great job of showing the beauty of the trail; and giving the trail info we need to feel comfortable on our next adventure. Thank you for all that you do. I know it's a ton time, money and work to keep your channel running. Your videos mean a lot to people. Probably more than you'll ever know. You have the people that use your videos to recon new trails for their next vacation or big weekend out; or the people that live back East that love the West. How bout the ones that used to tear the trails up in their youth, but no longer can because of life. Your videos represent so much to your fans - it represents a memory, freedom, health, summit victories, the love for Colorado, the outdoors, and soooo much more. Keep it up...happy hiking my friend.
