I have a DVD called,"Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe mainline memories" the DVD has a lot of shots from the Santa Fe when the railroad was at the beginning of the end. This video and that DVD kind of makes me wish the ATSF still existed today.
People associated the sante Fe with Arizona, new mexico, Colorado, etc. But it was equally at home on the south side of Chicago 22nd street ( China town) the sante Fe coach yard, diesel shop, and it's world headquarters on Michigan ave in the loop, watching the CAP (el capitan) coming from California as a boy was WONDERFUL👌👌👌👌👌
i have always heard that the merger was September 21st and 22nd 1995 and that it became offical on December 31st 1996. this is why the units already being lettered for BNSF makes sense. Also i don't think the concept of DPUs started being tested till 1998.
That is correct. This is a clip off the Wikipedia site why it was held up. The merger of the operating companies was held up by issues with unions;[23] ATSF merged on December 31, 1996 into BN, which was renamed the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company.[24]
Sorry to say Zachary. I don't. Would have loved to see it. I do have video of N&W 1218 and 611, plus some other steam on the east side of the US. Thanks for watching...
Thanks for posting the Gallup and Seligman subs! I run both and it's great to see how much they've changed since '96. At 9:31, where you standing on the giant boulder off Main 1--with a track spike nailed in at the top?
Thanks HDK. Its amazing how much has changed. It must be great running over those subs. I got the chance to ride from Prewitt to Lee Ranch, and got to opperate coming back from the loader to the power plate. That was fantastic. I might need to post that video one of these days. I do recall standing on a boulder, but I don't recall a spike nailed in the top. Thanks for watching...
Awesome video Jack, you got some great shots from Barstow, it's interesting to see how much they've changed that part of the yard since then. Thanks for posting, God bless! - Larry
Thanks Larry. I have a good many 33mm slides of Barstow, But just a hand full of video taken in the late 90's. Yah. Lots of changes over the years for sure...
Thanks Derrick. Glad you enjoyed it. I use to run I40 out there almost weekly back in the late 70's early 80's. Loved it out there. Thanks for watching...
i had to revisit this video, I just did a 3300 mile southwest road trip through there and love seeing how it looks then and now
"Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see . . . " Three yellowbonnets!
Thank you for sharing! Truly beautiful scenery!
Glad you enjoyed it William, and thanks for watching...

Forgot how sharp those Santa Fe were.

Nice catches!!! I think it would be cool to see what Santa Fe would look like today.
Lots of changes out there I bet Ed. Sure would be interesting to check it out. Especially Abo Canyon after the second track was put in.
@@1jackdk there widecab GE’s would all probably be warbonnets

Great Video! I love that SF brought back the Warbonnet Before they merged. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video Jack. Thank you for the great upload.
Thanks bud. Glad you enjoyed it...
1:30 - Why do railroad tracks make a U-turn sometimes? Isn't that a waste?
Fantastic video, Jack. Love the long shots!
Awesome video, do you have footage of Santa Fe 3751 in 1995 and 1996?
Sorry to say Zachary. I don't. Would have loved to see it. I do have video of N&W 1218 and 611, plus some other steam on the east side of the US. Thanks for watching...

@@1jackdk welcome ya maybe you will see bnsf trains
Great video, but that's one crappy camera.
This is the 1990's. What exactly were you expecting?
@TheNevadaRailfan I've seen videos from the 80s that look better than this.
@@dumdum7786 I doubt it. Pretty much all the railroading videos I've seen from the 1990's look the same quality wise.
Everything was sd quality wth.🙄
Its amazing how much cameras have advanced in the last 23 years.
