You help so many people phil i did a bit of decorating in the 80s found my self ill with oil based/ solvent paint didnt follow on fron it Waterbased is so advanced now Anyway every film i see you make i learn something mall bits of info makes a difference Well done phil
Great video Phil, these murals are notorious for pattern run out IME, no choice but to match at eye level. Love how you measure in metric but quote overlap is in inches 😜
I didn’t watch it all. That reply was meant for the guy that said you should start from the right if you’re right handed. I’ve hung dozens of murals so I know that you just follow instruction and you’ll have no issues.
I don't consider £300 expensive. Why hang wallpaper twice? Do you charge double? When wallpaper adhesive dries it shrinks and pulls paper nonwoven vinyl or otherwise into the wall, any protrusions texture etc will transmit thru to the surface. Wallpapering twice reduces it slightly. If you want smooth skim coat the wall to level 5. Don't use a brush to smooth wallpaper on a smooth wall it will create bubbles. Use a soft plastic smoother or felt wrapped smoother. Are you right handed?Hang from right to left always easier especially for a diy. Cut and back roll the sheets and put a rubber band on each sheet after doing a dry layout on the floor. Draw a plumb line with a level. Hang 1mm off the plumb line. Paste the wall with a thin coat of paste or you will have bubbles. Hang all the sheets don't cut check the wall trend for squareness when satisfied trim top and bottom and roll seams. Wallism will shrink ever so slightly so on dark solid patterns you may notice seams. Use a urethane seam roller lightly as you go. Whatever you do don't cut a sheet until you are satisfied that the paper is trending straight and installed with the correct orientation. Usually we just hang all the sheets. 9 sheets takes about 10 min. Or 20 max. The correct paste will still be moist and tacky for at least 45 min+. Takes about an hour max to install perfectly, pack up, then go have a beer or for you another cup of tea. £500 please.
fail to prepare is to prepare to fail. If I could PM you, I'd show and explain a situation with a problem PTW wallpaper, 1st questions ask by manufacture... was it lined... what paste did you use and how was the paste applied! but each to their own. No one has a problem till the problem arises ;)
Let's agree to disagree love ,as a decorator for 30plus years I no a well prepped wall for non woven and good ready mix paste is fine,as for paste the paper wallpaper totally agree in linning the wall or walls,oh and always line in drops lol

Phil would you not normally get the lengths pre cut numbered or lettered organised ready to go then it’s just paste and go?👍🏻

Yes but I might have da bit to be fair 😂🫶🏼🤦🏼♂️
Murals will often tell you which end to start either r-l or l-r. You can’t deviate.
What did I say in the video?

Some papers specifically say NOT to line.
