I have a 2024 Sportsman 450 with about one hour of driving it. I have not driven it for two weeks. I plan on taking the batter back to the dealer. This video has been a great help.
Great video. Have two Sportsman 570s (2023 & 2024) and came across this video while looking for maintenance tips. I'm sure this will be handy down the road.
Good job fellas. Not bad. Put your meter back on the old battery. Crank it over. Watch the voltage drop. If you drop under 10 it will not go. 10 is the threshold for the ecu.
This video helped me with (possibly) selling my ATV. The buyer came to pick it up and even though it started an ran for me to get it out of storage, it did not start later. The buyer shows up, pays me for it. Then starts is once and it dies, never to start again. I refunded them their money and offered to get it running and deliver it the next day. I am now waiting on the buyer to except that I fixed it. The problem was the battery was low from me starting it just long enough to move it into the yard for sale. While the buy was trying to start it I noticed on the screen it showed what looked like a low voltage reading like 10 then 9. Even though it still cranked it would not start. I removed the battery and put it on trickle charge for a while. Then bumped it to 40 amp for 5 minutes. Removed an cleaned the spark plug (could not find the new one). Reinstalled the battery and the cleaned spark plug. Starts and runs great. Thanks for your video.
Excellent video, subscribing for sure! Another easy way to see the low battery condition if you don't have a multi meter or tester is the control panel on the headlight pod. When cranking it should not cycle on and off. With your low battery it was cycling on and off during cranking, but with the new battery it stayed on. It's not foolproof, but could help to point a DIY'er in the right direction. Note, the 2021 and newer units have a battery tender port on the headlight pod, which is a great way to prolong the life of the battery (as much as possible anyway).
I have a 2014 polaris 570. The battery is a PITA to change. #1 Interstate batteries are garbage. #2 You should have put dielectric grease on the inside of the spark plug boot after you installed the new sparkplug. Just my opinion. Opinions may vary. Have a nice day 😊
Today my ATV just up and cut off on me lost all power instrument panel cut off and backfires is it my battery or is it my coil or is it a combination of both and for the record mine is a Polaris sportsman 450 ho efi 2017 and I had just changed the fuel pump spark plug and wire and the air filter
Unfortunately, not all 2021 Sportsman have the relocated battery, as stated. The touring model still has the battery underneath, still has the battery tender plug under the l/f fender, etc. All the cool changes done for 2021, none were done for the touring model.
What if it starts then shuts off after a few seconds? New battery and plug.. Only way to get it to run is if I open up the throttle a bit and go, then it runs fine.
Have a 2020 sportsman 450 that wont start and sounds like this. Brand new charged battery and sparkplug, still wont start. At first it woulf fire up, run for a few seconds and cut off, but now wont cut on at all. I tried octane boost hoping if theres a clog in the fuel pump or injector that it would clear. But still wont start. Im stuck and not sure what to try next. (And yes, mine has the battery underneath the front and it is the BIGGEST pain in the ass everrrr)
My 2017 450 Polaris is Stil not starting!! I’ve change the battery to a new one and the spark plugs ! Stil nothing what else should I do ????? Fuel pump is working also!!
Has anyone ran in to a stalling problem when at temp and running a constant 10 mph it backfires once in awhile then stalls. It starts up harder after it happens it's like it has no gas.
Guys that know what they are doing! 🎉 Maybe you can help me, my 570 ( 2018 model) just doesnt want to crank 7/10 time. When swithed on, the zzzz sound sometimes happens, sometimes not ( guess it is the normal feul pump operations) but then when turning the key to start, just nothing. A couple of on/off and the suddenly it starts. Battery is new. Could it be a dirty fuel filter or the handbrake switch that the control box just doesnt give the start command through? Thanks. From 3rd world South Africa 🥴
If you have a test light, you can make sure pull the connection to the fuel pump and see if it is consistently getting power. If it is then the fuel pump might be going bad. Also just make sure the connection to the fuel pump is good and not loose.
Can ams are just as big a pos. Your solution is go buy a pre 1990s wheeler or deal with this modern chineesium trash. I've worked on lots and lots of Polaris rigs and they are all proprietary garbage but can am is just as bad if not worse and yamaha is even getting to be trash too
Can you do a quick fix video for the new recall on the Sportsman 450. It says it’s just taping some wires but i’d like to make sure me and everyone else is doing it properly. Thanks guys.
Hey! We’re not a Polaris dealer so any recall work wouldn’t be taken to us unfortunately. Let us know if there is anything else you want to see and thanks for watching.
@@howeequipment understood and appreciate the reply, if you happen to come across the issue or look into it and post a video for entertainment only and don’t recommend anyone doing it other than dealers, I’d appreciate it.

Really good info, thanks
Gonna try this today. Great video fellas, good narration and explanation. Link info to the tools was awesome as well. Subscribed. Thank you.
This really worked on my 450 2021 thank you guys
Glad to hear
Great video, thank you. Ordering the topdon tester too. Subscribed.
Really excellent video, you are both really good at this. thanks bill
Your great narration and detail info convinced me to subscribe.
Awesome, thank you!

Great video! I will be trying this in a couple of hours.
Did it work?
My 2009 sportsman is doing the crank no start. Is this the same sequence you’d recommend for that year?
Hello, I have a 570 but it doesn't start when I press the top brake, only the bottom one works
Could it be a bad sensor that you suggest?
Gonna try tomorrow
Awesome
Video thanks guys
is 300 rpms to low when cranking it?
Nice video really liked the funeral music
I like classical 😂
The music certainly distracted from the video... Would have been an interesting video but did not finish it due to music noise.
@@TT-sc8kj Turn off the music if you want us to hear what you have to say, very distracting and not needed!

I don't get any crank at all.I turn it over and it makes no sound. But I could hear the starter clicking

The Polaris Sportsman, do they all make gear noise, and hard to get into reverse?
That typically happens when the idle is too high or the clutch’s have to be cleaned/sanded down to expand better
If my battery’s low, can I boost the battery to see if it starts with a new spark just to see if it starts
@@ashtonthompson8102 yes
My scrambler 2013 850xp wont start when i turn the key all i here is a tick sound my lights and everything works

Possibly a fuel pump. It would need to be properly diagnosed to know.
I have a 2022 450 sportsman I’m getting no spark I changed plug still have no spark helppppp
Yeah it’s usually the battery I have a 2014 I put one battery in per year but mine’s got 7K plus miles on it

Did you figure yours out? Mine is doing the same and I’ve done the same fixes
I have a 2018 570 sportsman. Have changed battery and plug, got a good spark and still no start. What next.
Next highest culprit is typically the fuel pump. But there is a little bit of testing needed to confirm.
Mann I have both replaced the battery and the spark plug nothings happening. My polaris trail boss 2005 sucks man.
My 2017 450 Polaris is Stil not starting!! I’ve change the battery to a new one and the spark plugs ! Stil nothing what else should I do ????? Fuel pump is working also!!
Did you get a solution? I have same
Problem and spark plug is new, battery is full, fuel is there
Thanks for the info
My Polaris is doing that it'll fire up then stall then go crank no start but can leave it for a few hrs fires right up without doing anything to it

@@howeequipment the handbrake switch seems to be the problem, disconnected it and cleaned it with Q20 and so far it is starting every time.

What would be the next step you guys would recommend if the battery is good and you replace the spark plug and still getting a crank no start?
I would check fuel pressure from the fuel pump and see if it is it supplying an adequate amount of fuel.
Easy access to the battery
They finally made it easy to get to!
Thank you
Mine ran out of gas and now it won't start at all t will turn over but I'm still thinking it's the spark plug
Did you figure out the problem!? My ranger 570 ran out of gasoline n want start now
The background music is driving me up the wall.
You didn’t have to rest the battery to tell that thing was severely discharged.
You could skip the music on the video
great video but that piano music is really annoying, Sorry.
The 2020 450 HO is a piece of junk man....CONSTANTLY breaking down, dies randomly. The engineering is dogsh#t 😑
What's with the Mr. Softee Ice Cream tune in the background. Every fuqn generation is getting worse. WHEW!.
Sounds like bull for most part.
Polaris = overpriced junk
