    My former trainer as I was a teenager at the beginning of the 90thies was 39 years old lefthander, played regional league and Graf‘s sparings partner. As she was No. 1, she had no chance against him. Also when they played without serve, only points!

    I love to watch WTA. And it's obvious they aren't on the same level physically, I mean you just have to watch one match of male tennis first and then female tennis to see a very noticeable difference. But it's more about the competition within their levels rather than the comparison between male and female.

      At Wimbledon they tried having men's days and women's days and the attendance wasn't so good on the women's days so they've kept them mixed together.
      There's always been a massive difference between the top 5 or so women and the rest so there's really no point in playing longer matches at least in the early rounds. That is, if the first two sets have gone 6:0, 6:1 then what is the point of playing any more? Besides, the question has been answered by the authorities who say there just isn't enough time in the slam tournaments to have everyone playing best of five.
      I think women's tennis is in better shape than it's ever been though, and it's actually more interesting than the men's game at the moment.

    People really need to understand the difference of athletic ability between different genders.
    Take 100m sprint for example:
    Female world record 10.49s by Florence Griffith
    NSW (state in Australia) high school meet record 10.29s by Matt Shirvington.
    This scaling is largely correct in terms of any professional sport. A world class female athlete’s level is usually around the level of a state/national level teenager.
    This may sound harsh, but biology has nothing to do with gender equality.

    • @earnthis1
      @earnthis1 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      People really need to understand this? Why? Also, you would lose to any of the top female players, so why does it matter so much to you if a top ranked teenage male beats a top ranked female? Either way, you are not any of those people. So, who cares? lol

    Vid shows the truth. Women’s tennis is a different game in general. But I like how WTA developed. I make the overall level 5 times higher than 30 Years ago, where only the top 20 where watchable. I have sound reason to have been a threat to a few top 20 WTA back then and on the same basis I believe my old self at peak to have no real chance against a top 100 WTA today for at least over a decade now. They are complete players and earn their pay. I can enjoy watching lower women’s pro matches now. Back then it was too easy to get quite far in women’s professional tennis for my taste. Today women need all skills for tennis at good level and still train hard to earn money with it. Respect!

      Statistics also prove the point. Big servers on the WTA would be about average on the ATP tour as they serve roughly 10% or more slower than the big ATP servers. The same would be true of groundstroke average speeds too. You can also look at speed on court and the men would be faster on average too.

There was a statement left by a deceased employee of the Vegas hotel and the employee stated he heard Riggs discussing throwing the match with the gangsters. Gardner Malloy was an ex-player and Riggs' friend and he said he thinks Riggs threw the match because Riggs wanted a rematch to make more money. Malloy said Riggs practiced hard for the match against Court but didn't practice for the King match. • @markoshun
      @markoshun 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A point for the the other view is that you need 2 weeks of 5 sets just to add the fitness drama to the men’s game. Often the player with the best fitness, by genetics, training, etc., holds out in that 5th set. The same thing happens in the women’s game in the 3rd set, whether they spend as much time training or not.
      But about using physical difficulty in level of prize money in the first place: I wonder why should winners on the golf circuit get more than tennis players?
      For me it’s about creating drama and competition, and what the most people want to watch. I like watching the women’s game as much as the men’s and prefer 3 set matches as 5 setters are often crazy long and unpredictable, could be 1 hour, could be 4. 🤷‍♂️

      Look at the end of year price money list. Women players are not paid the same as men. They on average earn less than the guys per year except for joint products like the grandslams and big 1000 events. Tennis players are not paid per game or hour so the argument on best of 3 or 5 sounds so ridiculous to me. My opinion is to look at it purely revenue standpoint. When it's a joint event. It's a single product and they should be paid the same based on the revenue share. When it's a seperate event they should be paid differently according to revenue split. On average standalone Atp events of the similar level earn more than wta events, which is why the guys earn more than the girls combined. The argument to should instead focus on getting more revenue for both tours especially lower ranked players. Instead of this

    The solution is simple really: Understand UTR.
    UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) is an algorithm based rating system that has taken all the guess work out of who would win.
    When the UTRs are within 0.25-0.75 decimals of each other, the match will almost always be a toss up. Outside of that range, the higher UTR will win 99% of the time.
    So, for example, a female player with a 7 UTR will beat a male player with a UTR of 6.25 or less 99 out of 100 times.
    If we look at the current UTRs of ALL professional tennis players, the top men are usually between 14.5 -16.0 whereas the top women are generally between 12.0-13.0.

    There's really nothing to debate about here. It's only a debate when someone decides to change the definition of some term. If women who want to be like a man and compete like a man they should be welcome to do so. Why even call this era the 'Open" era if we are not opening up the draw to all tennis players regardless of gender or mental state? To say that Serena Williams is the best tennis player, male or female is saying if both tours merged into one, she would be the best player on that tour. An obviously false statement. It only becomes true when you decide to change the definition of "tennis player" to something only you know and nobody else knows. You might as well invent your own language at that point.

Women are excellent against each other. It’s a game of chess. Against the men, they would only be defending themselves and redlining. We used to have top male juniors train with Hingis and Capriati. The #1 15 year old in the country was beating them both. The power of the male forearm begins to dominate that of females once the testosterone kicks in. That’s also why the larger framed women dominate the smaller framed women much of the time in clashes. If they would kill the racquet and string power in the game, tennis would get really exciting again. People of all sizes and different games would be able to get involved in the game. I'm all in favor of equal pay for both women and men if they play the same amount of games and sets in a match. I find it very strange that the women play at a grand slam event a match of the best of three sets and men the best of five. But they both receive the same amount of prize money. That doesn't sound that equal to me, does it. Seems like favoritism or compensation for all the years of inequality. I would think that the women would comment on this questionable equal playing field. But I haven't heard any women tennis players bring this up. I heard many years ago the reason why women play the best of three and the men the best of five is that it was too strenuous for the women to play all those sets certainly at a two week event. Which are the rules at the grand slams. Strange. Is that true equality? Hmmm.

      As a woman, I agree. I would like to see the man’s matches be 2 out of 3 since some 5 set matches go on way too long. Those who promote women getting equal prize money say it has to do with the amount of revenue brought in. It does seem unfair that men should not get more pay when they are on the court longer.

    i hate the argument about equal pay bc it’s not for us to decide. how much a player gets paid doesn’t impact our viewing experience, and also equal pay isn’t even really for the top players on the men’s and women’s side (most of their revenue comes from sponsorships), it’s mainly about the players ranked around 150-200 that need the higher wages to afford to play as a career. to say “men deserve more money bc xyz” does nothing but limit the opportunity for wta players outside the top 100.

    we have to reason for categories. Also inside men´s sports there are categories. Boxe for example, a middle weight Canelo Alavarez or Floyd Mayweather despite they are puound for pound among the greatest they would have never competed against a heavy weight. Women and Men are two categories in Sports full stop. And there is not exclusion of talents in these assumptions.

I believe that, the moment that you start advocating for equal pay without economic justification, you are a just making a political argument. Even female players like Pegula have said that they need to grow the female audience, so equal pay can be justify. Just remember that female players play less sets in Grand slams and bring less audiences but get equal pay.

    I never understood why people in the tennis game were so hell bent on trying to get women’s to beat men. It’s just not biologically possible, if you look at statistics, men’s serve on average is 10-15 mph faster then the women, and ground strokes also about 5-10 mph faster on average. The men also hit much more RPMs: it’s not fair to compare the 2. Their isn’t another sport where men ever face off against women so why would tennis be any different. Ofc Serena is a GOAT of tennis but everyone knows that Rafa or Federer would likely beat her 6-0. Doesn’t mean she’s not great. The sports are separate for a reason.

They are like challenger events. The ATP vs WTA tours are a lot like the NBA vs WNBA leagues. The revenues and interests are so far apart that giving women equal pay is like charity. And it's not fair to the men and it's not fair to the women cos many will never feel like they are deserving. The fairest thing to do is to separate all of the events like the PGA and LPGA and let the WTA see what they can really pay their players.
