@@KeshavKus Earth magnetic field must be perpendicular to the magnetic field of coil. Therefore we place it in magnetic meridian.

@@KeshavKus needle is always pointed to north- south directions. Coil magnetic field is perpendicular to it. Please read tangent law of magnetism.
