Thank you so much for this! I had this whole date planned out for my wife (she LOVES Fall). Pumpkin patch, apple picking (yes, they were used for this), Fall photos, etc. This was just the cherry on the top! THANK YOU! Edit: the recipe was DELICIOUS - we added way more cinnamon (we both love that stuff). DELICIOUS. You earned a sub!
this looks delicious! apple cider trumps pumpkin spice any day *-* wondering how it would taste with a shot of Fireball 😁 might actually try and see hehe
I bet u got a serious winna with that fireball! The next step is maybe half a shot of some pineapple ciroc or something along those lines & some bitters & top of with club soda, sprite or squirt.
Man, you really can do anything, girl! You're my cooking hero, you make it so simple for simple folks like me haha! No one in my life ever took the time to teach me, and so i was always very intimidated by it, but you've changed that for me. Thank you so much for taking the time to share what you know, you changed the way i cook :)
+AssaultedPeanutt I'm pretty sure you've probably just made my entire week! : ) Thanks so much love! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!
O MA GAWD!!! I just drank a glass of this but instead of apple slices I put slices of orange on top with a cinnamon stick that was in the slow cooker *DELICIOUS* I followed the recipe to a T. I did, instead, add 1/2 cup of organic maple syrup and organic coconut sugar by Bob's Red Mill (Forgot the vanilla). I'm on my second batch because my kids are going to devour it when they get home! This is officially apart of my life long recipe book! Thanks soooo much for sharing!!!! ( Also going to experiment with the cider on my slow cooker baby back ribs) 😋 ❤❤❤❤❤
looking around for a cider receipy and came across yours. What sold me was your personality and fun attitude. I have literally two full trees of apples to do wish me luck and looking forward to drinking this as well. p.s. your nice to see too. keep up the u.t.
Dude you are so much better than these other yahoo’s on TH-cam who don’t use a cheese cloth and you can totally tell they never actually make it!!!! Thank you fir being awesome and keeping it real, authentic and fabulous
I'm Dutch and tried this for the first time! I hate to peel an orange too, I have a quick tip: lay the orange with its butt on the table and cut it in 4 then you can peel the skin of very easily and quick. Thanks for explaining it so well and sharing this recipe. God bless!
Your recipes never disappoint!! I have been making your yeast roll and cinnamon roll recipes every Thanksgiving and Christmas for years now. My family love them!! Best I’ve ever found, thank you!! 😘❤️
Tried the recipe this weekend after apple picking. Easy to make and tastes good. Interesting taste, maybe a few too many tart apples. I'm not usually a fan of store bought cider, but did like your recipe. Thanks!
I usually make hard apple cider usually what I do is just cut up a bunch of apples boil them for a few hours drain the liquid put that in some jugs with some yeast add some sugar and top the jugs off with apple juice turns out pretty good I'm going to try adding cinnamon this time I bet that would be good
Thank you!!!! We just peeled a bunch of apples for apple pie filling. So what do you do with the extra apples, peels, scraps and cores. You make apple cider. We even added in some older lemons and a some cutie oranges. Not sure about the oranges and lemon…. never had citrus but sounded good to me!!! Thank you for your recipe and video. We just don’t like to waste the extras. Last time i made apple cider vinegar. But i wanted something different this time! Smells so yummy already.
Omg can I say that I LOVE your personality! You seem like a really sweet person!! I've been watching your videos for a while now and I am in LOVE! Every time I see you in my subscription box, I get so excited!
Awwww man. I wish I had seen you cut those apples 30 years ago. I’ve been using a corer this whole time. Your way looks so much easier and one less utensil to worry about washing.
Love this! My parents have an apple tree and I didn't know what to do with them... After peeling and bagging what felt like a thousand apples... I decided to juice the rest. I froze it hoping I could defrost it for Xmas to make apple cider. Would you dilute it to make apple cider? I could throw the apple juice in with the oranges. But would I add extra water to this or would that be gross?
there are lots of cider recipes that start with cartons of apple juice so I would personally not dilute it. :) but she is focused on an over-all flavor in this recipe and also adds some sugar to balance out the extra water. they are different but equally as deliciously addictive! :) your call kslice!
I have never ever thought to make homemade apple cider before but I'm going to give it a try before the holidays maybe add a shot of spiced rum lol thanks for sharing of this take care xoxo.
Im bout to make me some of that... in my kalen voice.. lol im subbing just bc of your attitude and voice, divaaaa. Dont stop, girl! You brighten peoples day up...guaranteed lol
I absolutely love your personality! Thanks for this video, I love me some apple cider, I know simmering it overnight will make the house smell delicious lol! Thank you!!
Oh, my goodness! Oh, my goodness! I couldn’t wait to make this for my family, during the holidays. Though, I did start the first of 2021 and completed the process the day after. So, I was mildly delayed. But, Good God! So we’ll worth it b/c That.Was.Delicious!!! Allowing the cinnamon water to shimmer overnight, is definitely key and the house smell beautifully sweet, as a result. Bonus, cinnamon water pairs well, w/sweet potatoes too. 😉👍🏾
Love the video, the directions are easy to follow and your calm manner is such a pleasure. I was looking for a video to make apple cider, but I noticed that there is no fermentation in your method? DO you ferment it after cooking? Otherwise you just have apple juice?
We have a large fruit press. We take the Apple goo from the bottom of the press to make ours. It's so sweet it doesn't need sugar added to it. We d cook it for four to six hours in a giant pot and then we add cinnamon and lemon juice. Done.
yay! So excited to find this! I just ran out of my mulling spices blend, and I have a fridge full of those annoying tiny crab apples! lol perfect for our gathering tonight!!
Loooove apple cider and looked longlingly at the gallon size pitcher of it in the store the other day, deciding I didn't want to spend that much - so I WILL be making it homemade now, thanks to you! Thanks for sharing! You are making great cooks out of a lot of people, LOL:):)
I was waiting for the yeast pitching, although I did not get disappointed as it gave me a lot if inspiration to make a nice alcoholic beverage out of this. Btw I love your energy; keep those vids coming! Much love from The Netherlands
I love your channel. I didn't learn how to cook when I was younger and your videos saved me. Can you do some crockpot recipes?? Cream of Chicken and rice or potato soup would be awesome! Thank you!
here's a whole list of counterpoints to the video to ensure your cider tastes right while also making this a lot easier for you. TL;DR you don't need 3 hours to make bland apple water. you need about 45 minutes and way more apples to make actual cider. the main problem is that this video gives you an inefficient way of using an already inefficient tool. if you have one leftover bag of apples, you're gonna make 1 or 2 glasses of drinkable liquid. if you want to really try this at home, you need to have a lot of apples. good ones. and it's gonna cost you like $20. you're not as efficient as a whole damn specialized factory backed by acres and acres of orchards. you'll never beat a gallon for $5.99. now, you "could" watch a video about the factory process of mass producing cider to understand how you can do it on a smaller scale at home. but i'll save you the trouble and tell you they don't add water to make cider. first rule of beverage making. adding water to anything obviously dilutes the flavor. and you have to work to make that water disappear while not screwing up the flavor. you don't want to dilute apple juice by adding apples into a vat of water and boiling it and hoping it tastes good. it just won't. that's science. you're not brewing. that's why these videos depend on cooking lemons and oranges in water for 3 hours to make up for what's missing. the flavor in the apple has literally been destroyed by cooking. anyway. in a factory, machines literally extract all the liquid out of the apple to get cider. it takes a lot of machine power. 1st, by mechanically pulverizing the pure fruit, then filtering the leftover pulp from the juice, quickly heating the pure juice to a boil, and finally bottling it. and the only reason they even cook it is to give it shelf-life. fresh-pressed cider is a whole different experience. they do not give you apples boiled in a gallon of water, which is what you'll find on many youtube videos like this one. now, we don't exactly have the tools or time to make 100% apple cider. so how do we make our apple extract less watery? chopping up a dozen leftover apples of a mishmash variety and boiling it for 3 hours is just sad. again, take 10+ pounds of the tartest and juiciest varieties you can find. remove only the stem. chop it, put it all into the blender with minimal water. pulverize it. similar to the first step in the factory process. now you add a minimal amount of water to that and quickly boil in a heavy pot. maximum heat, short duration. you can taste test it after 15 or 30 mins. take a spoonful of the mash. if the pulp is basically tasteless, you're done cooking. you don't need 2 more hours. the remaining liquid is your homemade cider. filter and toss the mush. now gently add your flavorings in a low boil until you build the flavor profile you want in mulled cider. you need to cook a lot of very juicy, tart apples to get the right acidity in your cider. dry tart apples will turn it astringent, like tannins in wine. alternatively, if your batch tastes too sweet or flat, try adding acidifiers. citric acid is the obvious choice.
Your family and recipes are the best. It's really always makes my day when I see one of you videos appear. Please try family vlogging your personality its to amazing not to.

you need to cook a lot of very juicy, tart apples to get the right acidity in your cider. dry tart apples will turn it astringent, like tannins in wine.
alternatively, if your batch tastes too sweet or flat, try adding acidifiers. citric acid is the obvious choice.
