The Pre Bond is what I am known for and I love them all. I have one now with the 1441 quartz movement. Its my daily. I also just purchased the new Seamaster 300m blue wave ceramic. Love it. And YES, you can replace that clasp. There are ways to add the adjustable clasps to pretty much all of the older Omega divers. A bit of a pain, but doable.

I too just bought an automatic Pierce Brosnan “bond watch” circa 1999! I was fortunate to have gotten all original authentication card, booklets , leather box and cardboard box at a remarkable value. Mine too has not been Omega serviced and the twenty year fade is evident. The watch is in fantastic condition and I think I’m “ALMOST” as wound up about mine as you are about yours!! I love this watch and will be wearing it through the end of the year, then sent it off for its first full Omega service. This is my first luxury brand watch and I couldn’t be happier. Much luck to you with yours.

I also have the pre Bond 1992. I was given it by a friend who had replaced it with the 300m Seamaster you have now. It just sat in his drawer for years and he said he would rather give it to me instead of it doing nothing.... years later I always wear it when I go to visit him (Spain) and he always comments on it saying 'maybe he had made the wrong decision and how he loved it'. I also love it, very accurate, lovely patina now and a sentimental piece for me.

A stunning watch with that Bond connection. The Omega was my very first genuine luxury watch back in 2000 and then as part of a growing collection I enjoyed it for over 10 years before selling it due to buying a house. I regret it to this day, as mint conditioned 2531.80s are going for £2500- £3000 in late 2021. A recently bought Tudor Black Bay 58 navy blue has satisfied my lingering nostalgia for the Omega and for a cracking quality blue dial diver, with its superb, modern in house COSC movement, 70 hrs reserve and staggering lume, not to mention the sheer wearability.

Have the same watch but earlier. Also impulse buy. Saw it in Jewelry store window last week in a ski town in Vermont. Store owner was first to suggest a discounted price. The watch was perfect. Looked on chrono24 and Hodinkee. One was $100 less, and other $100 more. Both with no box or papers like this one. Did buyers 30 years ago keep track of such things, especially when boxes were very plain back in the 90’s. Couldn’t argue with jeweler. Love it.

I have that seasmaster from year 1999. I had to get it serviced 3 times since then; each time getting serviced was due to it breaking (age, not trauma). Each time the restoration is made by Omega, the watch looks and acts like brand new.
-a great design for looks, as it doesn’t stand out like a Rolex as a ‘look at me, I have an expensive watch’, which I like.
I like the design much more than the new models.
Omega tried to get me to change my bracelet the Spring of 2020, stating, ‘the pins were not meant to last this long, and you need a new bracelet, which are screws’. I said, ‘no thank you’. It looks fine, and the cost was bout 400-500$.
As for the lumination... to get them replaced requires the dial replaced, which costs about 400-500$. I said ‘do not replace it’, for cost reasons... It was never very bright when I first bought it anyways... the lumination back then was radioactive lumination (very minimal, not dangerous levels). Now they use different technology.
I do not like how easy the bracelet scratches; just touching a desk scratches it; not just light scratches, but deep scratches. And I also do not like how the watch breaks after about 5 years. But Omega has a standard price for repairs; however, if yo want it polished, they do not polish the bezel, so will require a replacement bezel if polished. New bezels, ‘about 400-500$....

I have the mid-size auto version of this and it is my daily watch, I love it so much. I bought it second-hand some years ago and the bezel insert has faded to a soft pale denim blue which looks nice with the grey blue guilloche dial. One question, the tip of my seconds hand is white, not red. Is it faded, or did they make some early ones with white pointers?

I snagged one of these in about 2007 when they were still going for decent prices on Ebay. It's a great watch. I must've saved for a year and agonized over whether I should go beyond the $400 watch threshold. I wouldn't pay thousands for one today, but I like that I can claim "I have a Swiss watch!" (even though sometimes I forget that I even have it because it's stashed away). I should get it out to wear now that I'm watching this.

I wish the newer ones had that small Helium Valve 😅😅 but I love the new models so much aside from that!

I guess it's the Essential Mirror Gent | Silver Mesh. The seamaster was my first proper watch. Loved it to bits! Great buy!

Congratulations on the new Omega! No need to justify that kind of purchase.
And I think you went with the Essential Two Gent Silver mesh with blue dial, since you seems to like blue :)

This is THE hero watch for me. I love the 300’s SO much. I even bought the Seiko Knock off for my 21st birthday present, that I still have today. It’s relatively similar, including the 5 link bracelet. I was actually thinking of sending it to you to review prior to this video. Maybe I might to see how it looks right beside a proper 300.

I also own a knock off 300....I hate calling it that when it's a 150 UK pounds clone version black market. But it has never been spotted as a not real omega so happy days. Enjoy your one fella

My first 'proper' watch. I bought it in 2004, 2nd hand but never worn. £800 quid. There are not enough words to describe the love I have for this watch. (Needs a service right now, so is in it's box at the mo'!)

Great choice! Can't go wrong with a Seamaster! Those are some nice watches Inthe essential collection! I reckon it's the Essential Mirror Gent with the Black Crocodile strap! It's got such an interesting dial!

Would be interested to know if this is still in your collection? Did the honeymoon period end? Or did it find a permanent place with you?

You don’t need justification for buying that Seamaster, Jodi. Great purchase, though I am particularly jealous of your ‘90 Seamaster.
For my guess, I think Essential Mirror Gent Black Smooth. Just a shot in the dark, really.
