Hi, I've seen a majority of the videos in the Speed Training playlist but I still haven't grasped how to periodize different parts of training. For example, over time you want to go from shorter distances and heavier loads to farther distances with lighter loads when performing resisted sprints. Would you do this throughout a week or mesocycle? I'm questioning this because I noticed that looking through the mesocycle plan (8:57) the sled pull's exercise distance increased with the load/speed staying the same but in the further to closer to peak schedule (12:14) there was the heavier load/shorter distance to lighter load/ farther distance concept. Should I stick to traditional overload for all exercises or the different progressions specific for each type of training (strength, power, plyometrics, etc) throuhout the whole training plan?
There are many different ways to program and periodize training. The week-to-week progression is not as important as the general-to-specific application of the long-term plan. These are some examples, but you can come up with different ways to implement each training variable 👍
Hi ..I am competing in the European Masters Championships a 100m / 200m in September 2019. From here ( March ) how do I reach maximum power / speed by September and what drills / exercises can I employ in the gym to optimise ? In addition, what exercises would you prescribe during recovery days between high intensity days? Thankyou in advance.God bless.
Good question. I prefer to use a 'short-to-long' approach for max speed as opposed to a 'long-to-short'. This is because (the way I see it) max speed is purely anaerobic with no endurance component. You could argue that 'speed endurance' is a thing - which I agree with - but I don't think this is influenced by aerobic capacity anyway. Therefore, I dont really see the point in doing extra long sprint training for max speed 👍
No, you would usually increase the distance slightly in the next mesocycle. At 12:03 you can see how each mesocycle changes based on how far/close you are to when you need to peak 👍
@@FlowHighPerformance1 8:44 timestamp Coach, is it benifical to put speed emdurance day before maximal velocity day? Or does it depends on the atheletes weakness?

Great work!!!!
The BEST !
Is there any chance you will be able to share the excel table for individual modification?
sorry, I dont have this excel file anympre
This was great, just wanted to ask if you were to actually make a program, you would more exercise variability right?
Yes, this is just an example to demonstrate the principles 👍

Do you repeat the cycle after completing all three weeks
You would perform each phase for 4-8 weeks before moving on the the next. Then you would repeat the entire cycle 👍
Thanks 👍 but when repeating the mesocycle do u go back to the original low reps or maintain the highest reps?
@@FlowHighPerformance1thanks for the video. It was very informative. Just one question
Do you do speed workout before a power workout or vice?
Speed first 👍
@@FlowHighPerformance1 thank you so much. 😊🙏🏾
Is there anyway to send this template out so it can be edited?
this template was lost years ago
@ it’s fine. I just recreated it
@@JAMESAPETEET Is there any way that you could share that with me?
Any reason youre using reverse linear periodizations for the speed work, but regular linear periodization for everything else?

hi, where can we find this powerpoint and spreadsheet?
It is not available
New coach here just trying to understand some things. After the reload week in the acceleration blocks do I start over back at 20m again?

I figured anything pass 40m would be considered max v that’s why I’m asking.
I’m just trying to figure it all out as far as having a 26 week season with acceleration being from 0-40m
When you mean by saying the time you need to peak is just saying by the time your next competition is?
yes exactly
How many rep we will in speed work like 3 set of 120m
How many reps we must do in one set?
1 set = 1 sprint
