Is there any way to use Touchscaper to only send modulation to your hardware/vsts ? While I love that I can play chords with the app, sometimes I might have a progression going in my DAW and I just wanna add some MPE movement to it

very nice use of MPE and both synths with your wonderful app touchscaper
i am looking forward to your run-through to get a better understanding what is going on exactly
most beautiful music comes from 'Ambiotic Fluid' in my humble opinion who is using touchscaper together with Waldorf Iridium,
unfortunately he does not explain or show how to use both together
so i hope to learn as much possible from the creator itself :)
i am not an apple user so i am wondering if it is worth bying an IPad only to run this wonderful app of you
please also give some useful advise which minimum hardware is needed to run this app properly
    many thanks in advance

Hi there - many thanks for the comment! I don't know if you saw this video, but the description goes into a bit more detail about the setup, albeit with just one synth: th-cam.com/video/htT2QgYGbIY/w-d-xo.html - to be honest, I think there's lots more things to consider and perhaps a bit of online research to do before investing in an iPad, but it's very nice to hear you're thinking about it after seeing touchscaper!

Thanks! It's really simple to be honest. And for anyone else that might be interested... Both machines connected to the iPad via USB-C hub. They then show up as MIDI destinations in the app. I also ran the audio out of the COBALT into the ARGON (bypassing FX) as I was too lazy to dig out a mixer! Output of the ARGON went into the audio interface of my MacBook for the audio recording. Then I just pulled the screen recording from the iPad into Logic, lined-up the audio file and exported the combined screen recording + audio for upload to YT.

The two synths pair so well they could be sampled and made into Touchscaper instruments for a future update.

To be honest, even though I'm no stranger to making virtual instruments by sampling synths, to get anywhere close to how this sounds, you'd need to make an equivalent MPE-compatible virtual synth (not a sampler) and that's way beyond what I'm capable of and I'm not even sure an iPad could handle the CPU demands. That's why I still buy hardware :-)

Great video, as always! Been really enjoying the app. Hit a slight bump in the road with Midi out...When I attempt to send midi out to my DAW or another synth the main instrument B is locked and I can't seem to get it unlocked. I looked through tutorials but haven't seen anything regarding it. Has anyone else run across this?

    • @Mimefight
      @Mimefight 3 ปีที่แล้ว

To add to the above: there is no midi going out from channel B.

@@Mimefight- great to hear you're enjoying the app! About the padlock on B... that's a bit of confusing design on my part - sorry about that. Basically it means for the main instrument, you can use the internal sounds for A+B or external MIDI sounds for A+B - you can't mix the two, e.g. have an internal sound for A and MIDI sound for B. However, you're free to have different sounds on A / B, they just have to *both* be internal or MIDI - hope that makes sense!

@@robjacksonmusic thanks! I thought the lock had to do with the fact that midi isn’t coming out of it. Maybe the issue is on Logic’s side of things. Seems like midi is coming from everything else to their respected channels except B. Thank you so much for the reply and making a great app!

@@robjacksonmusic Found the issue for anyone who might stumble onto the same problem. There’s something going wrong when the iPad is plugged in via USB chord and enabled. Plugged it through my iConnectMidi2+ and everything worked as it should.

@@Mimefight - many thanks for the extra info. That is quite odd! I'll see if I can reproduce / diagnose the problem.
