Nom nom nom, so easy even I could do this. I have to tell you a little story, Rik. Yesterday I had a steroid back injection, sedated. In my little 10 min recovery room, my nurse was a Brit. Elizabeth was her name. In my post sedation giddiness, all I could talk about was you, The Backyard Chef! I told her how you "chuck" things and "wiz" things and how you are my gentle therapy. And I learn something new everyday! What a blessing that lovely British angel was for me!
@@BackyardChef I did watch your show yesterday, poutine, but I was still loopy, snoozy. Also, i turned on your shows to run while I was gone for my 2 Chihuahuas and let it run to keep them company while I was gone.
I actually make banana bread all the time, but never with oats, which I will try this time,I have 4 extremely ripe bananas in the fridge right now, think this with a corn chowder will be this afternoons job.I like raisins, and walnuts in mine,I bake it in a 8x8 aluminum pan in my toaster oven, which has a convection setting,I feel there is no need to turn on my gas stove.I usually have one or two over ripe bananas as I only eat bananas with a lot of brown spots on them,so before I can finish the bunch some are too ripe,so I freeze those till I get 4 then I make the bread.😊
A friend of mine puts walnuts and cranberries in her banana bread and it's delicious. A little on the sweet side so I think the oats would balance that out. I'm giving it a go in the next few days.

Hello mate new subscriber here. I was just saying to the wife this morning we should make a banana bread and then look what turns up in my notifications! Looking forward to making this one. Cheers Rik!
I made this and I’ll do it again. Oxidizing the banana seemed to really bring the banana flavour forward. Thanks for the tip and the foolproof recipe Rik.
A few raisins or chocolate chips in there and it would be beyond perfection. Oats are good in everything, sweet or savoury, and bananas are the bees knees. I love my banana tea bread recipe but that might just surpass my recipe. Will definitely try it Rik. Thanks xxx
Will be great with tomorrow's morning coffee. Here in Western Canada hemp seeds are available in the fall season and considered very healthy. I know we grow walnuts and hazelnuts and apples are plentiful in orchards nearby. To eat more regionally I plan to use the oat loaf as a base for Canadian centered produce. Okay I will also use bananas when I score a bunch of ripe and discounted price fruit. I appreciate recipes that inspire substitutions and happenstance. Even oats can be sourced from local flour mills that range in size from small batch artisanal mills to province wide gold standard mills. We do not lack options and are very fortunate.
