It's so refreshing to see Jesus's love reflected here in the comments... Instead of worrying about which band member "ruined" the song or the person who was moved by the Spirit to sing along, listen to the message of the song - you know love and tolerance and unity.
"These Are They" is definately David P's song. He pronounces all the words more clearly than anyone else, through out the whole song....just listen to him on the Rocky Mountain Homecoming video. Top Dawg!.
Years ago I spent a lot of time with Davi and Mike both. David is really clear if you ask that Michael was a huge HUGE influence in his life and music. Mike in the 90s was the greatest lead the gvb ever had.
I think Bill like to change things up to give all the guys a chance to shine in different songs. No one can argue David's talent thats for sure! He is my mom's favorite too. I love Michael's voice because even after all he has been through he still sounds amazing!!
For starters, no one can match the vocal quality and range of Phelps...That being said, God Bless Bill for bringing back two classic former members of the Gaither vocal group; remember that each in his own day was the lead, so I am sure Bill is spreading it out to keep the audiences happy...
David Phelps is a freak of a vocalist but I have never heard a better, more moving verison of the song than when Michael would sing it live back in the 90s. The version of this song as the final cut on the Few Good Men album is amazing to say the least. David is a classically trained tenor with high notes to make most Sopranos say wow but no one out sings Michael at his best. Michael is a baritone/second tenor but he also has the magic as a communicator and that is what it's all about to me. If you've never heard David live, try to do so. He is more incredible in person.
Mike was in the 90s all but doing both lead and tenor because he had to! Changing it up is just about age and that David did it after him in the early 2000s.
ITA!! That's my fav to date, besides Anthony's homegoing, he was much younger then and didn't use falsetto and runs as much as in recent years. It's a difficult song to sing and to perform it perfectly every night wears out any norm person's vocal chords but he ain't normal..hahahaha! Praise God for the VOICE..
I love it that you sang so loud at the end...I wouldn't want to be sitting NEXT to you (he he...), but..it's almost impossible to not join in with these guys :)
I LOVED hearing you sing brother. You followed the harmonies well. I've heard GVB sing this song a thousand times, it's delightful to hear a different voice applied. Keep on singing

i heard michael when he was you he was greattttttt but david still is better no offense to michael i don't think anyone can take affense for not singing as good as david but much more importantly is the message of the music that is all that really matter.
What was Bill thinking when he gave this song to Michael. It is so owned by David and I think that Michael ruins it. He sings a lot of stuff really good, but not this.
