These Barber coins are my favorite type as well Rick. I had the 12 or so dimes in a blank H.E. Harris (Roosevelt) dime album with pictures of Barber dimes all over the front of it. My only worry is that with them being so thin from being so well "used " that they would slip out. I wish we could go back to making beautiful images on coins like we as a country used to and the way other countries do today. I appreciate the video.
A nice start on the album fill! As far as silver value, have you attempted to quantify the cost per ounce? The traditional .715 x Per dollar Face = ounces of silver doesn't really work with coins this worn. In a stack of 17 Barber dimes vs 17 Merc's I recently acquired, it would have taken 5 more Barbers to equal the height of the Merc's, about 22% less silver in the average Barber vs the average Merc. As I sold them with out weighing, I'll have to do that next time I get some. I do like your approach with the dealer, I'll have to try that with my Merc and Washington quarter collections.
I generally don't look at it in ounces. I would say I stack silver. But probably not the way most do. I don't rally get too excited by rounds & bars. I am a coin guy through and through. I mostly collect those. So I gravitate towards constitutional silver. I buy most of that at some number Times face value. Depending on what it is I am buying.
Coming along nicely. Thanks for sharing!
