    Brewing an Amber Ale using the Fermzilla as a pressure fermenter today I do have a video following this one on dry hopping coming next week. I have had to learn where to place my cameras and what settings to use on this brew video. I apologize if it is a little difficult to watch. Thank you for taking the time to watch this video. Don't forget to subscribe. Cheers Pierre

      Often the flicker is caused by the shutter speed, typically you want a shutter speed thats 2x your frame rate so for 25fps frame rate your shutter should be at 1/50th of a second, but if you get flicker you can adjust your shutter up a little and it should lessen or even dissapear or even down as well just dont go below 1/25th of a second. The problem is the electricity cycles at 50hz and that can interfere with the sensor at certain frame rates. If nothing works you may just have to chamge out your lights

      @@jeffbrislane5782 Thank you I appreciate the info and your time. I believe I am on top of it. My next video should be much easier to watch. Cheers Pierre

      @@SimpleHomeBrew No worries mate! I only just found your channel and i love it especially how you show a lot of your thought processes with brewing, not many people do that

      I think the flicker here was due to shooting at a frame-rate of 30/60fps under lights powered by 50Hz mains. My camcorder can switch between 50fps (labelled as "PAL") and 60fps ("NTSC"). I usually shoot soccer in the daytime in Oz at 60fps as it works a bit better when I later slow it down for slo-mo replays. But once, when the start of a 3pm match was delayed, the match started so late that the 2nd half ended up being shot under flood-lights. I saw this kind of flickering/"beating" which got progressively worser as the the natural sunlight faded out and the proportion of artificial lighting increased. If I had of known the match was going to start so late, I would have shot it at 50fps.

      @@dosdan Thanks Dan, I have to have all my settings at 24fps and my shutter speed at 48 to make the flicker subside. I am using LED lights that seem to have two different frequencies. All my other videos are looking great unless I need to slow the video down. Thanks for the advice. Cheers Pierre

    great video. LED lights can cause camera flicker due to their frequency. Going to do a brew on my brand new fermvilla this week.

      Thanks for the info! I have set my camera up to compensate. As I have made many videos since I have had no issue. You are going to love brewing with the Fermzilla they are great. Cheers

    Why do u use a jacket on the fermzilla? Is it to keep the fluid and yeast warmer than 22 deg so it will activate? How long do u leave tha jacket on? 2-3 days? Thanks

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, @TheBossMitch I use the jacket not only to stabilize the temperature but most of all to keep UV light out of my beer. UV can adversely affect the flavour and colour of your finished product. I leave it all the way through the process.

    Did you just use the dry malt and malt extract? is that enough for a good ale or do you think making it more "personal" and trying adding some other malts and hops you choose yourself might make a better beer?

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most definitely, I did a about 5 or 6 videos on Morgans kits using their recommended methods, even though they are not to bad as a beer adding your hop additions and flavourings is a necessity.

      @@SimpleHomeBrew why not make to 21L if all you need is 19L? You'll get fuller flavour too

    Thank you very much for all the great videos. They have been very useful.
    I am using some lager extract that is meant to go through 8 days of traditional (no pressure) primary fermentation.
    How long do you think it should be with pressure? How long did you put yours for?
    Thank you

    • @SimpleHomeBrew
      @SimpleHomeBrew  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found that brewing under pressure make no difference in the fermentation period. I believe fermentation is all about the yeast, if you want a quick turn around try changing the yeast to kveik yeast I hear that kveik is awesome for this and leaves hardly any after taste.
