Shoji Meguro did, in fact, direct the PSP remake of Persona 2. I don't think he had anything to do with the original PS1 game, but this does make him more than just a musician.

The visuals you saw in the beginning was the original opening to the game which was a lot shorter than the full version, which is why they had to add in those other visuals.
There was the original PS1 version, then they ported it to PSP with updated features and music including this song.
Also, this version came out almost 5-6 years after persona 3 , so Lotus was older in this song than when he sang Burn my Dread.
Well, ALL Persona games have to do with people have 2 sides to them, in both subtle and obvious ways. This particular song is more about the 2 main characters of P2.
Meguro was the creative director for the ports and localization versions of Persona 2 (innocent sin and eternal punishment) for the PSP.
This is the intro from the PSP remaster, but originally Meguro didn't have anything to do with P2
I love Lotus Juice alot and this theme is pretty catchy but I really dislike the shift in tone from the original, more somber opening theme which sets the atmosphere of Innocent Sin. I know the idea is to sync it like a modern Persona game but 1 and 2's duology are so unique I dont like the change.

P1&2 (and I guess old SMT in general) had an intentionally clashing aesthetics with then modern young adult culture being contrasted with classical epic elements. Its trying to be the kitchen sink of art and tone, and changing that to contemporary music goes againsg what the original was trying to convey
Persona 1 and 2 are much closer to smt than the newer ones.
the smt on the title in was added only by Atlus West because smt 3 was kinda popular, they stopped it in persona 4 golden.
Persona the series is a pseudo sequel to a snes title call Shin megami tensei if. IF is an alternative universe where tokyo doesn't get destroyed in SMT 1. SMT and persona are connected because they use the same monsters.
Persona was called a "SPIN OFF" to the SMT franchise and they didn't like that and splitted away from SMT. I guess thats the biggest mistake SMT made if you asked me. these days Persona has more fanbase than the SMT title.

The first trilogy wasn't like smt all that much and when Hashno took over the series actually leaned more to it.
Persona 5 is possibly the closest to smt as they get lol with the setting being tokyo, the negotiation return and yaldabaoth (smt nine final boss)
Persona will always be a megami tensei spin off because they use the same demons and systems so trying to disconnected them apart is way more harmful
@@masstrash4609 the only reason Persona had a "SMT" infront of their name back then was when they introduced it in the WEST. Persona was never a SMT in Japan. if it wasn't noticable the first 2 Persona games wasn't called a SMT.
Persona more belong to the "MegaTen" (or Megami Tensei the Franchise itself) name formerly known as "Revelations" thus why the first Persona game was called "Revelations: Persona" Persona was never meant to be a Shin Megami Tensei but at the time SMT was more known of a title. it was in the West is why Persona was labeled the way they were back then.
if you check out the Japanese version of all Persona games they never had the SMT label on their names and if you check the US covers they included the SMT name. (up until recently)

Shin megami tensei is the continuation of dds megami tensei, they called it shin because it was planned to be remake of mt2 and it was on stronger hardware.
Mt and Smt are basically the same series, even Smt imagine and smt 1 has the digital devil story in their intro.
Persona is part of megami tensei is true but also its part of shin megami tensei :/

Lotus juice has actually been involved with all the persona games ( except for persona 1 I think)
The original games i believe were on ps1 then ported to psp,
To explain a little of the context, persona 2 is a Duology, and innocent sin could be seen as the 2nd chapter, but you can play it first and then play the other one.
The song is talking about 2 characters yes, one is main character in the first persona 2, and the other is MC in the 2nd one.
Innocent Sin is the first game and Eternal Punishment is the second so it's the other way around, IS is the first chapter.
