- Here's a somewhat off the cuff type video. I was going through some boxes of computer parts, and ran across the left over parts from the PowerBook G4 Project, which I did almost a year ago. I saved a few parts, and ended up assembling a working PowerBook G4, although it does have a few issues, as I explain in the video. This video details the install process of Mac OS X 10.5, and gives a brief overview of the G4 itself.

This machine is great! I baught one last year for 20 euros. Its was in mint condition and the 17'' model. Not one scratch! Came with the box, software, charger etc. So i try selling this thing.... it was online for less than 30 min. sold it for 350 euros??? If you have one in mint condition.... Its worth money haha!!

The PowerPC thing really confused me when I was trying to upgrade my eMac from Panther to Leopard. I kept looking for a PowerPC dmg and couldn't find one. Didn't realize that the install disk was universal. My superdrive was also getting a bit weird at that last "1 minute". I think its just the install image because it works just fine still.

What i usually do in order to save the LCD of the laptop (because replacing it is usually expensive and sometimes hard to find another one, specially old models) is to connect and use another external display everytime i can. Might not seem much, but if it helps... =D

I'm trying to install the software from an original disk but when it gets to "select destination." No destination appears and I can't click continue. I don't know what to do
I recently got a PowerBook G4 A1010, unfortunately it has a Linux distro, and I want to reinstall Mac OS 10.4, somebody knows how i can install mac on it?

can you make the Harddrive a windows partion and install something like windows xp or other vertion of windows?

The G4 is not ARM, it's PowerPC which is similar to ARM. Edit: But yeah, Windows won't run because it's not x86 like the later Intel Macs.
+Timur Tripp sophistry. It's an ARM type architecture, ie. not X86
Again, very similar as both are RISC-based, but they are not the same. The fact it is not x86 is all that matters to answer the OP's question (although there are ARM versions of Windows such as Windows RT).
Not on any PowerPC Mac. Has to be the Intel platform

I got this PowerBook from another one that forgot the admin password. I’m want to install the Leopard as well but when I try to enter in the Control + S mode, firt appears the globe, after that a ? And a face and thenreturn to normal boot, opening the old macOS... do you know how to proceed on this to update the macOS?

Hi this is probably a really trivial question but I’ve just installed a new blank hdd to my g4 which of course has no OS, can I install leopard with an official cd?

Just boot from it by clicking option until the boot device chooser appears

I asked a know it all student in my robotics class what the architecture of macs were before Intel and he didn't kno lol . I guess he doesn't know it all

No. A powerbook has a powerpc artitechture and Windows 7 only support x86 and x64
