That's because this shit actually works. The problem with a lot of the personal development stuff is that it doesn't give you any actual *tools* to change. You're fighting your ingrained patterns and your biology, which becomes unbelievably difficult to change as you get older - and by older I mean even into your 30s. The wiring is set. Before I discovered neurofeedback and brainwave entrainment a year ago, how difficult it was to change myself was infuriating. I had all the advice, but I couldn't implement it. Great. So I'm 41 and I'm screwed. But now I have a fighting chance! And hopefully a lot more soon.
@@squamish4244 the problem with personal development is the fucking snake-oil salesmen, like Tony Robbins. Better off spending your money on a trained psychologist, and not the psuedo-intellectual, cherry picked bullshit that "PD gurus" are peddling.

@John Frylock not necessarily the difference with joe is he has become a talking head for the left, he represents them because he always tries to justify saying something truthful, but then says I'm left wing I voted for etc etc.

@John Frylock you've got the dude wrong. Joe himself isn't deep in PC culture, he recognises that in order to keep the mob off him some things he says need to be explained or clarified. It's really stupid for a comedian to be stuck in that position but it's also a necessity in his case in order to keep sponsor deals and to not fuck up his Spotify pay day before he even makes the full shift. Right now keeping the Spotify deal is the most important thing so he's doing it right tbh. I think he may losen up a bit on that shit once the move is done and behind him.
Also, I just don’t think politics are relevant to what he’s saying, it’s just the way it is, it’s biology. I think the majority of people on either side of the issue of political correctness have completely distorted the meaning.

Definitely a crazy coincidence that I needed to share.

Focused engagement or “goggins something” is what I had to do to pass my college algebra class and statistics class. I was always terrible at math in high school and middle school, because I failed to embrace the subject and focused on distractions instead. I am 27 years old now and I started college about 1 year ago and after deciding to “goggins” algebra and statistics, I was able to pass with an A and a B.
John S no hate man, just curious. Some would think that I got a useless degree (mostly translated Latin into English among other things) but the company that I work at would not have given me a 2nd look if it wasn’t for having a degree. College exposed me to a bunch of different subjects ranging from math to poetic verse and that trained my mind to be flexible and open. After college I taught myself coding and got a job as a software developer/engineer. I think just the experience of college (and not necessarily what I majored in) made this self-teaching easier than it would’ve been had I not been exposed to many different subjects in college. My useless-to-some degree helped train me to be trainable. It helped me land a job that allows me to eat good food, have nice things, give money to those in need, etc. A college degree won’t magically make shit happen for you-you still gotta take action to get what you want in life. But having one (no matter what the major is) definitely helps open doors.
It's just entirely true, we live to create and nurture. Imo it only makes sense, because in a standard human mind we find things like building, creating, and refining things around us to be extremely pleasurable. In the same way we also enjoy taking care of smaller animals we keep as pets even though it's incredibly taxing. We do stupid illogical shit that falls directly in line of this principle all the time. And if you take a step back to reflect you'll find that all of this is ENTIRELY true. We burn money on pets just for the joy we get from caring for them. And we create useless shit all the time just because we like the feeling of building something up, be it a project, relationship, or anything else. Our entire baseline for pleasure in the human brain is placed firmly on ideas directly related to creating and nurturing children.

The whole time watching this I'm thinking of the James Nestor podcast. Breathing, a semi-autonomous function, directly affects our perception of stress. Controlling your breathing will help manage stress
controlling your breathing also requires focusing on your breathing, which takes your focus away from the stress...so it may not be that the actual rate of breathing is what affects our perception of stress, but our focus...in actuality it's probably both, and many other things
@@nGUNNARp it depends on how long you've been doing conscious breathwork. At first yes, the focus is like a distraction. Overtime, if you're paying attention to breathing slowly and deeply all day every day, it becomes second nature. A lot of peoples normal everyday anxiety comes from shallow breathing. It's due to how your sympathetic nervous system reacts. Shallow quick breaths keep you in a heightened alert state. Of course, it differs with person and place buuuut there's a lot value to proper breathing we forget about
I agree with Jeffery. It's like any new skill breathing takes effort initially but once you learn to breath low and to think of the centre your body as low in the abdomen, it becomes second nature. Good association - lots of get real comments in JRs Nesror interview but breathing is foundational to a well-experienced life
Yes from how I understand it we breathe in consciously either way but want to exhale consciously as well if we do it subconsciously we initiate the sympathetic nervous system which induces a fight or flight response.
Nestor was an amazing guest! He is a humble guy that doesn't really speculate when Joe wanted him too. Its entertaining but unproductive to speculate and guess intent. That's a journalist with the right attitude how media should treat information.
aaron cheesbro Joes a really smart guy, and he does well to even keep up with some of these guests and keep the dialogue flowing. But he’s gotta let them finish their point, and then have the discussion afterwards, rather than stopping halfway and getting sidetracked.
We live during such great times, I’ve learned so many things I’d never have imagine learning because of this podcast. This one definitely goes into my top 3 favorite episodes. The future is exciting! What a time to be alive
Then you would probably be in disagreement with Duncan, and here is why. Studying a brain, is like studying an engine of a car to find out how and why does a car run. When eventually there is a human driving it and setting its course. In the same way Duncan feels as his fans know that brain is only a byproducts of consciousness . It's derived from consciousness and it's an illusion, to be blunt. Like Allan Watts says a knife cannot cut itself, a tooth can't bite itself that's why a brain can't investigate it self also. All we ever come across are just more confusing results and science actually is in crisis like never before, because it's discovering more and more that the world as we know it is an illusion. Just a desktop we get after it gets filtered through the brain. There is nothing but consciousness and once we unlearn everything, we will make progress.
This is helpful of course, but majority of the problems of the world would be erased by just introducing meditation in early schools and teaching us how to recognize out true nature. A lot cheaper and more effective than greedy pharma treating the physical part of us, and numbing us down!

You're very short-sighted and have no means or capacity to think beyond your narrow minded point of view and instantly allow your poorly disciplined ego to lash out and attack those you disagree with. Very trashy.
Gotta love an expert who doesn’t just have the intelligence to be at the forefront of this unfolding unknown; but also possesses the passion and empathy required to share the journey with a curious outsider. Not enough of his type in the world.

To know the brain is to say you know the universe at a exponential level and understanding. I'm not saying he doesn't know but this guys comment is 85% true. How the body reacts, how stress reacts on body and mind. These are all common fundamentals in his field of study.
yup everyone is smarter than a scientist.on TH-cam at least :D:D
This guy is like the light at the end of the a dark tunnel of personal development nonsense.
Riighhtt!!!
Absolutely! And more.....
Agreed!

This dude is insanely smart. And one of the few I can actually understand. Not because I'm smart but because he's so great at explaining it.
I get what you mean. Being an expert in the field is one thing, being able to share your knowledge in an understandable way is another skill. In college, all my professors were brilliant but sucked ass at teaching. We’re lucky Andrew has both.

When Joe says that his work isn't "politically correct" and Andy responds "I guess I never thought of it like that". This guy cares about his work.
@Trashcan Man you sure made your point ;)
@John Frylock not necessarily the difference with joe is he has become a talking head for the left, he represents them because he always tries to justify saying something truthful, but then says I'm left wing I voted for etc etc.
0 i would say that Joe Rogan leans more center even center right...he has liberal ideologies but through this pandemic it seems his conservative side and sense of discernment as to what is best for the foundation of America to remain strong and uphold the constitution ...
"the more stressed someone is, the easier it is to recruit them into delusional thinking" 🤔 sort of like brainwashing.

John S what’s useful and what isn’t?
Been hearing jamie laughing in the background a lot more lately. I like that.

- "Evolution is not about us, its about the offspring." -
Such a beautiful quote.
Jinxed - It’s about nobody and everybody.
Seems like that’s what it’s saying, anyway.

This really explains how one of the best ways to counter any kind of addiction is through exercise.
“I’ve learned to take great comfort in suffering.” -Goggins
New Joe Rogan fan here. I've been feverishly watching these for about a week now. Excited to see a current upload!
Many older episodes are not time sensitive and will provide an entertaining and informative experience. You should check them out.
Watch Matthew Walker (neuroscientist specialising in sleep) and William Von Hippel (breaks down the history of human evolution). Both are very interesting episodes. And welcome to the community.
Check out Graham Hancock, Randall Carlson, Dennis McKenna and Hamilton Morrison. Or fan favorite Alex Jones 😂
Current uploads weekly normally 3-5:podcasts a week
Slow down or you’ll burn out
I feel like many of Joe's best pod casts start off with " Hello, nice to meet you"
indeed. very few started with "i don t wanna be here today, you look like an idiot. explain why you are here and i have to suffer through this"

Joe "I really enjoy your work - so it's an honour to have you here sir" Rogan
I listened to this to this podcast & came here just to say how much I enjoyed this one! It was on the level on Dr. Rhonda Patrick with the amount of information to take in. I was upset when it was over
I would say this guy is on a level above Rhonda.
100% reminded me of her!
More info than her imo
@Harrison Ford will kill someone with his plane, somebody loves Rhonda...
To put it as simply as I can... Andrew fascinates me, the guy is super cool and relaxed and helps you to understand things the best he can whilst also helping you to learn and super fucking intelligent.
Definitely one of my favourite of your guests
how many of you guys actually looked up to see if your eyelids flutter?
i wish i were more easily hypnotizable. seems like a pretty neat cheat code
I’ve never tried that but I tried being hypnotized and it didn’t work
Kryptonite right id love if it worked for me
Look up nlp, theres a good basic video with a brit guiding you. Tried it on myself. Got into a relaxed state. Was super interesting

12 minutes in, I think this could be the most interesting interview I've ever seen.
I think this guy just became my second favorite Stanford professor.
Ima hafta listen two or three more times. So much good info. Good show, Joe!
who's the fave?
@@Foneio Robert Sapolsky - John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Professor, and Professor of Biology, of Neurology & Neurological Sciences, and of Neurosurgery. His lectures on Human Behavioral Biology, available on TH-cam, fundamentally changed, deepened and broadened my understanding of everything about how we behave.
One of the most interesting conversations I have listened to in a long time. And what a nice and well spoken guy. Please get him back on asap :D
Goggins so beastly he’s the subject matter of a podcast episode with a different guest
fr lmao
As a neuroscience major, hopefully on my way to being a neurosurgeon.. this is absolutely amazing.
Same here, just finished my masters! Also going into research
@Jeff Royer all surgeons are crazy dudes, dude. Relax. Good surgeons I know make crazy dirty dark sexist, racist etc. jokes WHILE their patients are unconscious on the operating table, smoke weed and do some heavy drugs, and nevertheless they are one of the best in the field. They do that because they need to cope with the heavy stress, people sometimes die... So, let them watch Joe Rogan show at least :)
Jeff Royer as a graduated neurosurgeon myself. your perception is altered. There are many advantages that could be taken from this podcast. why would you not listen to a top neuroscientist who is pouring information into this conversation and being prompted by an articulate interviewer. these students are only gaining information and scope in their field. stop hating
Same! Working on a masters. Good luck!
Good luck to you buddy, kind regards Richard U.K
10 minutes in and THIS is the kinda content Im lovin at 10pm when I’m a few beers and 1 drag deep. I know it’s Thursday don’t judge me.

❤always enjoy Joe and his guests. Love to see Andrew here again. Keep it up. Morning rituals. Learning is fun through him. This is one of the most interesting podcasts on JRE. Thank you, and it’s free!
The military way of training makes complete sense now. Morning workouts create urgency then you learn your task for the day....
Glad you figured it out buddy... moron
@@samuelhodges3661 jeez you're an angry prick.
Can’t count the amount of times a guest has been on a really interesting point and joe has side tracked and then it’s gone.
Seriously 😑
When Joe has a very intelligent and educated guest on, his attempts to contribute can be utterly painful to watch. Joe, just let the smart man talk
aaron cheesbro Joes a really smart guy, and he does well to even keep up with some of these guests and keep the dialogue flowing. But he’s gotta let them finish their point, and then have the discussion afterwards, rather than stopping halfway and getting sidetracked.
Andrew was talking some pure gold
Usually, I feel the awkwardness in the guests mind. It’s like a silent palm slap
We live during such great times, I’ve learned so many things I’d never have imagine learning because of this podcast. This one definitely goes into my top 3 favorite episodes. The future is exciting! What a time to be alive
Hell ya Joe Rogan love when there is science on the show
don't you mean... scienTISM? 🤭😂
goddamnit eddie bravo 😂🤣😂

I'm a duncan trussel fan boy (down to like just 7 of the duncan podcasts :( .... but mannnn, this may be my favorite rogan podcast ever
Imagine if they made another one with Duncan!😯😁🤯

As someone loosing my vision I am finding this interesting. Every year eye correction becomes less and less effective left eye is almost gone and right eye is starting I hope one day it can be stopped.
I'm very sorry to hear that. I wish you well.

you also may have to start using it " like high details" it maybe difficult but not focusing on details will cause your eye to go lax and inoperable
