You two are the best at presenting Korean traditional culture. What a blessing Jawon is, and the joy she feels sharing her art and encouraing others shows what a national treasure she truly is. Watching her breezily write in calligraphy made tears come to my eyes. So beautiful! Thanks for enlightening me today. 🖌🎨🏮
This is so beautiful! Thank you for taking the time to interview her and showcase this beautiful piece of Korean cultural history! ❤ It's so nice to see these pieces of culture that sometimes go unnoticed in the modern age.
It felt like such a privilege to be shown such beautiful and culturally significant works by Jun’s incredibly talented aunt. She veritably glows speaking of her art, and watching her brushwork was mesmerizing. Thank you so much Kyuho and Sarah for filming this encounter. Once again, I was reminded of how lucky I am to be a subscriber to your lovely channel. The love and work you put into it shows in each and every video! Happy Sunday!
One of Korea's national treasures! I enjoyed this so much, it reminded me of my grandmother. Her house had many lovely pieces reminiscent of these when I was growing up. I wish I would have appreciated them more. My uncle was in the military and he sent several beautiful things to her. Thank you for highlighting this sweet, talented lady.
The patience to work on that intricate painting for 7 months is just mind blowing! Haha, we had a lot of fun wearing hanbok and walking around the palace 😊
She was genuinely happy to be interviewed and to talk about her art! What a great video guys. thank you for taking us along!! Painting is very relaxing!
This truly feels like a good example of how someone stays young when they create things they're passionate about. I also totally understand why she decided to start painting with colours. These colours are just marvelous!! I'm a painter myself even though I just started compared to her, but I just looooved the colour combinations and compositions she made. What a talented artist!!
I loved this video! Her work is beyond gorgeous, I can only imagine how it looks in real life. I would love to have one of her pieces, all of her work is so beautiful. It sounds like you guys had a really great time, what a gift to spend time with someone who is so skilled and dedicated to their craft, but also so willing to impart knowledge. I speak a little Mandarin and can read simplified characters but knew immediately which character she was drawing because I learned radicals first which helps a lot when reading. Which, if anyone reading this comment has always been intimidated by Chinese, don't be--it's so much fun to learn! Chinese calligraphy is a beautiful art form and takes a tremendous amount of skill--I can't imagine sitting and creating calligraphy for four hours, she's amazing!
She’s such an incredibly talented artist and a wonderful teacher 🥹 And yes! It’s difficult enough to do calligraphy at that level and skill, but the amount of Chinese characters you also have to know by heart it another skill in itself!
loved this so much! i love her art, especially those symbol-like paintings like the ones you colored in. being an artist myself, i would love to see her actually draw those! and i am fascinated by those korean powder paints. if she offers classes on those, i would take them next time i can come to seoul. :)
Absolutely fascinating! I don't even want to know how long it took her to paint all the pictures behind her! The Calligraphy was fantastic too! Her Korean "sa rang" literally looked like the font you'd see on computers! So perfect!
This video was so relaxing. I felt like you were showing me a treasure you found. These paintings are magnificent. I saved this video. Thanks too the painter Jawon, a beautiful gift you were bless with. Sarah and Kyuho I appreciate you sharing your Blessings.❤
What a beautiful, therapeutic, and overall enriching experience. 😮 Her passion is so evident. ❤ I hope that she makes her work available online so that I can have her beautiful craftsmanship on display in my home. 😊
I've been watching your videos since almost the beginning of your channel and this has to be one of my favorite videos you've done. I resonate with it a lot as an artist and find her to be both relatable and inspiring. I really think artists and other creative types are some of the best parts of humanity. So I'm glad she's able to do what she loves -- as she said, it's hard for artists to make a living and a lot of us have to do something else. I think every artist dreams of being able to dedicate more of their life to their art.
Ohhhh... this video is the perfect thing for today! (as I try to battle pre-election anxiety) Jun's aunt is so very talented, and those colors look great on you guys! Thanks again. Be safe and well!
Wow! The traditional Korean paintings she has painted look so beautiful and amazing! The calligraphy looks really amazing too! It was really interesting to see powered paint! I would love to experience a traditional Korean painting/calligraphy workshop too (if I get the chance to visit Korea in the future).
Her voice is so soothing🥲 this video made me appreciate art so much, you can tell she’s so passionate about her work. Those paintings are out of this world
What a delightful video! Juwon's art and calligraphy are captivating, and it was lovely getting to watch your time with her. Thanks for sharing this with us!
I was at all these places that you went to just yesterday ! I actually am staying at a hanok hotel just directly opposite the main entrance of Changdeokgung (400 steps away from my hotel) and I was thinking how nice it would be it I could bump into both of you; not knowing that you were there maybe 2 weeks earlier. When I was at the palce, the ginko trees were yellow and the auburns are starting to appear. I also went to Deoksugung Palace near City Hall. What a treat this video is !
LOVED how you featured more traditional arts and the artist herself! Jun's aunt must've felt so special. You two are truly a blessing. I do calligraphy as well and would love to try my hand at Hangul calligraphy one day.
This was so beautiful! Sharing this wonderful talented artist is a gift for us all. Thank you for showcasing her talent and her beautiful pieces of art and her wonderful spirit. ❤
This video and the hanbok one with Jun and Maria are among my favourites. I really appreciate the videos with guests that explore their experience specializing in an aspect of Korean culture. Auntie Jawon, Jun, and Maria are not only preserving Korean culture, but helping to develop it; This is even more important with Korea's low birth rate. Thank you Sarah and Kyuho. I am interested in possibly buying Auntie Jawon's book for my Mom for Christmas.
So happy you guys were able to wear Jun’s lovely creations again and get to experience his aunt’s talents in such an intimate setting. It’s mesmerizing to watch her do calligraphy. I don’t know what it is about watching the strokes of the brush hit the paper … it’s calming 😊 they should create a channel of asmr vids. Love the cultural outings. Thanks for sharing.
First, the Hanbok you chose was just stunning on you both. Thank you for sharing this incredible experience with us. I didn’t want it to end. Your videos are so peaceful. Informative and enjoyable. Thank you so much ❤
This artist should be designated a "national treasure" and I am surprised that she did not get this sort of recognition for the kind of work she produces ! I would kill to have a chance to meet this artist and even participate in a demo painting with her as I actually do Chinese painting myself. What a pity !!
This video was so interesting to watch and I loved seeing you both trying your hand at painting. She is such a talented lady and so sweet and welcoming. I loved seeing all her artwork and caligraphy.
Being a Taiwanese, students have mandatory calligraphy classes in the elementary school (when I was a kid. Nowadays calligraphy classes aren't mandatory in some schools), and I had to bring a inkstone to school. I do like the smell of the ink, too. 😊 Thank you for this lovely interview that got us know more about the master that made the wonderful art pieces. ❤
Yeah, Kyuho did it too at one point! And it was also one of my classes when I studied abroad in Japan for a summer semester. We still both suck though 😅
A very interesting look into the life of an artist, what inspired her, how she achieved success. I will never look at another Korean/Chinese painting and calligraphy the same again. Thank you for this 🙂
This was so interesting to watch, even her voice tone seemed so sweet. So beautiful On a side note i also thought the water was for the paint 😂 have a good week guys!

This video was so fascinating, thank you for doing it & especially to Jawon, her work is so beautiful! And appreciate the effort it must have taken for Kyuho to do all the subtitles! 😁
This was amazing! Have they ever thought about doing things like small 3-4 person Airbnb Experience class or something along the lines of that? I am a travel advisor and I 100% think this would be something clients would be interested in. Whenever my clients take classes with locals doing something traditional it is always the thing they say was the best thing they did on their trip, and I can see this being no different! And usually 3-4 hour classes range anywhere from $75-$150 USD per person for a 3-4 hour experience. Could be a way for her to not only get some financial gain from her art, but she can have her art and books on display to sell. Just a thought for her as it's so clear the passion she has for what she does and it's those experiences that leave lasting memories for travelers!
You guys are so incredible! This video was a piece of art on its own and your story telling, the portray of this incredible artist, I felt like i was in the room with you! This was so thoughtful I am in awe!
Han drives Jawon to commit physically and emotionally to her art for hundreds of hours. It is Jung that brought her back full circle to her art after pressure from her family to purse a more practical occupation; At 70 that Jung still drives her.

loveed this video!!!!.. and i will love to hear Sarah speaked only Korean, and for her tell us how long she studied it, and when she started her journey learning japanese and korean :D :D
HI guys! My husband and I were in Seoul a few weeks ago and visited Gyeongbokgung Palace. Really, most of the hanbok we saw being worn there were just as you said - quite cheap looking. I kept thinking of the hanbok I've seen on your channel, from your wedding photos to the great video with Jun and Maria, quite a different class altogether!
Jun and Maria’s hanbok are absolutely a whole different class-you definitely can’t unsee it once you know the difference between more authentic hanbok and the costumey ones 😅
Thank you so much for doing this interview with Jun’s Aunt! Her artwork is absolutely amazing, the talent she shows and the dedication is stunning. Please let her know that she has an admirer in Texas! Have a wonderful week. With respect and admiration from Austin, Tx….. and she has a lovely smile, that’s shows her joy in her artwork.
This was a wonderfully relaxing & fascinating video! Thank you for making plans to go back and interview 자원 선생님. Her work is beautiful, and hearing her talk about it is such a treat~ 🌺 Is there a place she sells her work offline, for friends who live in Seoul?
Thank for sharing- it was so therapeutic to watch her paint ❤ and all her beautiful art pieces. I’m also appreciative of your dining recommendations 😊 brought my family to Doma and it was a fantastic experience (including my 1st time using the queue app)! We bought their ‘magic’ herb salt home 😂
Wow this is so nice and I love the features.. May the tradition keeps going❤ and aww it seems like yesterday is the month of May hehe I want to visit them too when I come back to Korea on my birthday again on May😄 let's have a nice week ahead kyuho & sarah❤❤❤, more than 4 years of spending Sunday nights with u😄❤️
I got my Rosetta Stone membership. I decided I needed to try it. I'm doing ok with the 1:1 lessons I do, but I figured why not try another way and see how much it will help.
What an amazingly talented lady. Thank you for highlighting her wonderful artwork and calligraphy, I'd love to buy her book. What platform can it be purchased from ?
I need to watch this again. I would love to visit there. I'm the least artistic person ever but I have been thinking of how could I get something in Korea like what you painted and safely get it back to the US with me.
5:40 oh, thzts a painting of the eight immortals crossing the sea (at least thats how the Chinese interpret it) coz i see the 8ight of them in this painting......
Beautiful video Thank you for letting us vicariously experience Korean culture through your experience. One of the comments below mentioned the desire to buy Jawon's book. I'd love to buy one too and am very willing to pay for shipping costs. Any ideas about how it could happen?
I'm not sure if you're familiar but this is my grandfather: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Ki-chang. He's also a Korean painter that has a museum out in Chungju.
Do you have any more details on where to buy Jawon’s artwork or how much it costs? My boyfriend and I are visiting Korea next year and would love to buy one of her pieces while we’re there!
Hi, Kyuho and Sarah. Been a viewer for years. I was so excited to buy Sarah's Ana Louisa earrings last year. They were my daily earrings until I sadly lost them a couple of months ago. Devastating! I've searched online for months to find a new pair to buy new or secondhand, but I can't find them anywhere. Do you happen to know of anywhere I could still purchase a pair? Thanks so much :)
Ohhhh, I’m so sorry, but they completely sold out a couple of months ago and are no longer available 😢 I really appreciate that you loved them so much 🥹❤️
Thanks for the response - bummed they’re all sold out, but will remain hopeful my lost pair shows up somewhere soon. I’m convinced they’re hiding in some corner of my home. Loved today’s video - made me want to visit to take a class with Jun’s Aunt!
She is so talented! Do you happen to know if she sells internationally? I live in Canada and would love to try this, but I don't think I can buy these things here.
Kyuho's face structure or size changed.. compared to past videos.. 😭😭is it just me noticing it or he hasn't changed anything but maybe I am being weird 🙈

Thank you for this post. Love that cat with the butterfly and hydrangea painting!
Maria is quite the artist herself!
looovvvveed this video! Would not mind seeing more of these type videos 🤭

Absolutely agree! She deserves it ❤️

So glad to hear you enjoyed it :)

Han drives Jawon to commit physically and emotionally to her art for hundreds of hours. It is Jung that brought her back full circle to her art after pressure from her family to purse a more practical occupation; At 70 that Jung still drives her.
This was such a beautiful and informative video! Your content was excellent! Thanks so much for sharing this lovely ladies talent and story!

Wow, beautiful! I really enjoyed this, very interesting!
If Jun’s aunt sells her artwork, I would love to pick some up and have them framed as artwork
I got my Rosetta Stone membership. I decided I needed to try it. I'm doing ok with the 1:1 lessons I do, but I figured why not try another way and see how much it will help.
Ohhh, nice! And yesss! Every little bit helps :)
What an amazingly talented lady. Thank you for highlighting her wonderful artwork and calligraphy, I'd love to buy her book. What platform can it be purchased from ?
A piece of art 🎉❤
OMG i was jus practising my chinese calligraphy right before stopping to watch yr video! Wat a coincidence
No way!!
@ haha! And your guest is such a Master in her craft 🩵🩵🩵
Ahh.. mi encanta! The color panel behind her is absolutely stunning. Is it wrong to want an ikea version? 😅
Thank you for sharing. I also would love to buy her book if she would put it up for sale.
No word yet on the availability of her book abroad, but we’ll update everyone if we hear differently :)

Wow! 😮
@@2hearts1seoul If you check out his museum he actually illustrated the person on the Korean won. :)
Do you have any more details on where to buy Jawon’s artwork or how much it costs? My boyfriend and I are visiting Korea next year and would love to buy one of her pieces while we’re there!
We don’t 🥲 But if you contacted Jun via his instagram account @studiokjd_official he’d be able to give you more info.
No word yet on the availability of her book abroad, but we’ll update everyone if we hear differently :)
@2hearts1seoul Awesome, thank you so much ^^
the art work painting of black cat and hydrangers ..
That is real Hanbok. Calm and not 사치
Kyuho's face structure or size changed.. compared to past videos.. 😭😭is it just me noticing it or he hasn't changed anything but maybe I am being weird 🙈
He grew out the sides of his hair-it used to be totally shaved on the sides 🪒
