That's a pretty common woodworking tecnique. He's eyeballing the measurements, but by holding his finger against the wood and applying a good amount of pressure, he's able to draw a straight line. Try it yourself! It's not very hard and could save you a lot of time on your next project :) Hold the pencil in your thumb and index finger, supporting it with your middle finger. Then, put your middle finger on the side of the wood next to where you want to draw a line. Then, simply pull the pencil toward you, and voila! straight line.
@@ryoreina I wouldn't expect to travel with it because the whole set would be pretty heavy but it would certainly work as a space-saving piece of furniture
@@jackmcslay Apologies. I didn't really mean like travelling. I just couldn't think of the word in my language and its equal in English. It's more like delivery and stuff...
I'll bet your little girl adored it! And best of all, it will have sentimental value to her when she is older because her daddy made it for her himself. 👏🏻
I have to say sir I enjoy your videos. One of the things that I appreciate about your videos is that you're willing to make mistakes and not leave them out of your video. By leaving them in your video you're giving us the opportunity to feel it's okay to make mistakes and recover from it. Well done sir
Love your imagination and how ”scrapwood” really isn’t scrap, but beautiful wood that can turn into a personal gift for the love of your life. Great vids man!👍
That’s incredible. I wouldn’t have thought that you could get so many pieces out of a chunk of wood that size. Great project and it turned out beautifully.
i have two of these slightly different, one was my dads as a child and the other was mine. so awesome to see how they are made, thank you for the great video. I am going to try and make my daughters one now!
Oml I could see the kids in my family playing with that for a while! Especially if they become experts at putting these back together and ocd moms enjoying the compact storage... I could see barbies and smaller dolls enjoying their new furniture... I mean my nieces not me or living dolls ;) freaking awesome
How handy for real life furniture: it would make moving house a lot easier! Could you/anyone/someone make chests of drawers or wardrobes and cupboards along the same lines, I wonder? Both as a toy and life size? I'm intrigued! Love how the finish you put on them brought out the grain: beautiful warm rich colours. Thanks for sharing!
That was really neat. I wondered how they made them. I had one when I was a child. I had so much fun playing with it. The one I had was not as big nor did it have as many parts but it was fun.
You are amazingly fast when using your block plane. 😉 and your band saw skills and those of Jimmy Diresta are unparalleled. Thanks again for sharing your projects with us (me).
thats so cute ! I'm going to try and make one for my goddaughter one of these days (shes only 1 year old, so I have plenty of time to make many tries ! ^^)
Pask, Thanks so much for including the mistakes. Now I don’t feel so bad. Cool little toy! Ending with you sitting on one was GREAT! Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!!
Your facility with the bandsaw and those little curves is wonderful. Absolutely adorable exercise and result. Thank you as always. You're a hell of a gift giver.
Admiration .. lots of !! Admire you honest mistakes.. shows your human like the rest of us. Beginning to look forward to more of your vids. Cheers & thks.
Thks not needed. It's me who thks you and people like you who take the time and effort to put these vids out there. The tv here in the uk is naff anyhow .lol .. prefer to watch and learn something constructive !!
Now if I had a bandsaw...maybe this time next year?? Oh...who am I kidding? My wife will never see this post and I don't have enough room in my garage. But I definitely love this project!
Very nice toy, I really like it. Thank you for all the enjoyable moments I spent watching your videos. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
It's beautifully done and I appreciate the quality of your tools! Many times I just dream to have all these beautiful tools !! (Of course I Know I Can't afford these😊😊😊)
Now that was ingenious! I will do this one for an interesting Christmas gift. Your Scrapwood Challenge is always delightful and I love listening to your accent.
Another super treat of a vid, I love all your clever little touches that make them such fun. Thanks for all your efforts mate. And a very happy Christmas to you all there.
Prior to TH-cam, I had this design from an old magazine. I tried to make it on my band saw but I could never get it or any other project to work right. Blades always broke and I couldn't get a straight cut ever. The manual was no help and no one I knew had one to tell me what was wrong. Thought the blades were too loose but then they would break when tightened, tried different blade bands sizes, teeth and companies and still the blades broke. Finally Isold it to someone who never ended up using it.
For anyone that's interested I added free plans to my website paskmakes.com/plans/
Pask Makes aaahahaha that ending is wonderful. Thanks for the plans, too!
That was just genius! I always loved jigsaw puzzles, but that’s something that would make a hell of a gift for my niece!
Thanks Sebastian - glad you liked it! :)
No worries Will - glad you liked it mate! :)
OMG you are a legend, thank you for adding the plans. Now all us can play along at home :)
"I'm just eyeballing it"
> Draws perfectly straight line
right? 'I'm short on time'...*cuts wood block into small pieces, glues pieces back together*
He said it the same time I read this

@@rosly_yt hence the `rule of thumb` ??
@SmashPortal: yeah, every time I see him doing that... green with envy. 😠 (but then green). 😄
Just a simple video, last minute idea, scrap wood - so humble, yet so not humble at all! Love it!
This would actually seem handy in full scale
Yeah, it's very efficient and compact in regards to storage or travelling with it.

Love the ending brother!!! Bet it took some time playin in post, but so worth it !!!!
Thanks! It actually went pretty easy, didn't take too long. It's not perfect though, I could've spent longer but I was happy enough with it! :)
HAHAHAHA ! Best greenscreen ever at the end !
Everytime i see the finished product I'm so jealous of how beautiful that "SCRAP WOOD" looks .
Glad you liked it mate! :)
My grandparents had one of these that we used to play with growing up. Brings back memories.

Thanks for another great and very cool video. I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow now. And my daughter will be thankful too.
