I think it’s perfect that my video about Galena falls on Canada Day! Even though my specimens aren’t Canadian we do have plenty of Galena in our beautiful country; even here in Ontario! I was inspired to make this video after seeing a few Galena cubes being misidentified as Pyrite. They certainly share a similar cubic shape, they are both metallic, but unlike Pyrite which is a brassy gold, Galena is a super reflective dark silver colour! I absolutely love it!

Very interesting video. I'm going to check out your other videos. I collect minerals in my spare time from old mines. I have some beautiful galena, and even some argentiferous galena that is iridescent.

It is certainly not harming you sitting in your collection. You’d have to pulverize it and inhale it for it to be dangerous. Like all mineral samples, wash your hands after handling. 😊
Just subbed! Nice channel, with some great close up shots. I'm a miner (hard rock and placer) and I've found some great pieces of Galena from both the California and Nevada desert mountains over the years. One day I'll make a video crushing it and melting it into both lead and silver bars.....one day, lol!

Galena is a pure mineral, not a rock, not Granite. 😊
