    Months ago, this game left me puzzled no end. Now, due to the excellent comments by Michael, I understand a bit of it: what a great game! Thank you all making these videos possible!

    Thanks for another great Redmond review. These are the most fascinating commentaries by a pro I’ve ever seen. And I think I started reading Go World back in the mid 1990's. Please keep producing them, they are fabulous.

    A great game to return with after a well-deserved break! Plus, I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for the ultra important discussion of AI 's destroying humanity to come up during the conversation...finally Michael and Chris have recognized the meaning of this all...the biting with the metal teeth and the hurting and shoving. Now we can get to the truth behind what this breakthrough in playing Go will ultimately mean for mankind and our inevitable demise!
    Well I -- for one -- would like to welcome our new robot overlords. I would like to remind them that as a loyal AlphaGo fan, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their giant energy factories. :-)

    This game is absolutely amazing. Thank you Michael for this insightful and complex analysis.
    I am with you on appreciating Master's thickness style and it makes me sad to see him being beaten by Zero. Can't wait to see the game that Master actually wins!

    I think I can speak for the rest of baduk enthusiasts here that we’d love to see Michael’s “complicated version” of the sgf. Please! Please! Please please, Chris, try to arrange some supplementary sgf for Michael’s full reviews?

    45:40 "If I ever decide that AIs are going to destroy humankind, this is where it starts." Hilarious! But the game gives me hope for dealing with opponents' moyo in my own games.

    • @ConsciousBreaks
      @ConsciousBreaks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The feeling I got is that no human would ever be able to do that in that moyo!

  • @qwe7799113366

    At 33:05, how come that marked white stone can't escape. If white escapes, wouldn't that start a fight with the three black stones on right (R13)?

    • @qwe7799113366
      @qwe7799113366 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shouldn't black hane instead of extend to capture the white marked stone with exchange of black hane stone?

    • @ConsciousBreaks
      @ConsciousBreaks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put this position into Leela, and I think, although White can escape, it would have a bad effect on the center group since trying to escape would induce Black to connect his P11 and P14 stones. After White extends twice and escapes with the kosumi at R11, Black gets sente to play in the middle.
      This is probably much bigger than the profit White gets from the right.

    Please ask Michael to play some games vs Leela (alpha-zero little brother) : as did on the channel "Haylee's World of Go/Baduk"

  • @gludion
    @gludion 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    at 59:01 the variation seems wrong: black would cut at K15 and capture 6 stones, instead of K13.

    "that's what Master was aiming at [a huge central moyo]"... i've just worked out why Master goes for big central moyos - it's not that it *aims* for them , because it is truly aimless (goal-less) - but the opportunities for opp to muck up random moves in a massive fight in the middle are enormous, so they promote the probabilities of moves that tend to create such situations. Zero doesn't roll dice, she only considers policy-net generated moves, so she plays more sensibly, punishing Master for its naive flights of fancy by over-reliance on statistics of random moves. Master should change its name to Nasty.

    59:04 why doesn't black play K15 instead of K13?

  • @RoryMitchell00

    What is with Michael's use of "inimportant" at around the 7:25 mark? Unless I'm mishearing his pronunciation, I think he may have been in Japan too long and momentarily forgotten that the proper English word is actually "unimportant".

    • @ConsciousBreaks
      @ConsciousBreaks 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's alright, there are other examples of this in other videos that I can't recall at this moment. That's probably the reason-that he's been in Japan too long, lol.

    45:45 - if AIs are going to destroy humankind... ROFL. OK, AIs and pros read better, but all the moves so far are on my radar. What is this though, asking to be cut in two? No way! I don't believe it!!
