I go through this any time I talk about Madonna with my husband. I was a teen in the early ‘80s, and he was a teen 15 years earlier. He doesn’t "get" anything from the ‘80s. It drives me crazy. Michael Jackson will come on and he’ll ask if it’s Madonna. Prince will come on and he’ll ask if it’s Madonna. I’ll be like "bitch, no, nobody’s Madonna except Madonna because she’s like a virgin causing a commotion in the material world."
Then his favorite music will come on and I’ll ask him if that singer’s dead. The answer is yes about 80% of the time… 😈
My husband was a teenager in the 90s. Now he's telling me about Stevie Nicks and Patty Smith... But one day I caught him listening Like A Prayer

Great stuff. Madonna was one of the first pop stars I really got into when I was a kid; I did love 'Express Yourself' and 'Like a Prayer'. The album had a few experimental moments that my 8-year-old self didn't really get, still Queen though!

Agreed. Frozen and Hung Up were fire but I do wish she left Material Girl alone. There is no saving that terrible song no matter how you remix it. I’m surprised she went there because it’s been pretty obvious she hates that song and hates that that nickname has followed her for her whole career. Definitely one of her worst singles, but the video is iconic.
